Chapter 6: A gift to the Devil
The people of inkwell were gathered in Elder Kettle's hut, they all heard what happened to Cuphead. Elder Kettle held the teddy bear from the other night, blood stained the bear's little bow tie. He had feared it belonged to Cuphead- but he was wrong (Thankfully)- he did not know it belonged to the culprit.
"Don't worry, we'll find Cuppy and bring him back to you" Baroness Von Bon Bon said patting his shoulder.
"Yeah- we'll find out who took him, then we'll make him pay!" Hilda angrily vowed.
"Yeah!" The others agreed.
"B-but we'll need help," Weepy said quietly, "I-I don't know if we can d-do it alone,"
"What do you suggest we do?" Elder Kettle asked.
"I? NO! We'll handle it!" Moe Tato corrected.
"It's the least we can do," Psycarrot added.
"No! I can't just let you guys do this alone- Cuphead's everything to me, and I won't stop until he's safe," Elder Kettle said standing up as he placed the little bear on the couch. He walked over to a sword hanging on the wall, taking it down, "Let's get Cuphead back, and I know just the person that can help us out-
-Buckle up guys... we're paying a visit to the Devil"
(Meanwhile)
The Devil sat on his throne- bored out of his mind. The casino was closed for the day, and the Devil was beginning to regret it. He let everyone go home- except King Dice of course.
"Ugh! Dice!"
"Yes, Boss?" King Dice replied coming into the room.
"I feel like opening the Casino- you mind calling the employees?"
" Ok, then," King Dice said about to reach for the casino phone.
"No! Go out- and call them." The Devil growled.
"Why do you want me to do That?"
"Because it's more amusing that way," The Devil replied, "Honestly- I feel like changing my mind about opening after you've brought everyone- just so I can waist your time"
King Dice sighed annoyed, then headed to the exit, "Can't you find another way to amuse yourself?"
"Nope. Can't figure out a better way to spend my time... then wasting yours,"
"Typical Devil- alright, I need fresh air anyway," King Dice laughed
"Ahahaha! Where ya going? Inkwell?" The Devil cackled.
"Actually, I might- better than staying in this rat-infested place,"
"It is not rat-infested!"
"Tch- whatever you say, Boss~" King Dice chuckled as he left the casino.
As he stepped out he noticed Maurice dragging a cage- him gasping for air, "Damn! your a bit heavy for a little Cup," he said to Cuphead.
Cuphead giggled, "I'm not heavy- your just weak~" Cuphead teased crossing his legs.
"Say that to my face!" Maurice yelled angrily.
"I did- you were just too busy acting weak~"
"Why you little-"
"Hey, what do you think you're doing here?" A voice said in back of Maurice.
He turned around, jumping a bit. "Mr Dice!!! Greetings, I just came to drop this off for the Devil." Maurice said, kicking the cage- making Cuphead fallback.
"Is that so... come on in."
(Time Skip)
The Devil, Dice, and Maurice stood staring at the cage, Cuphead staring back. "So... what your saying is.... you're... giving me the person I hate the most... why? An Inkwellion giving the Devil- their hero. I don't get it. Is there some sort of... catch?" The Devil asked, looking at Maurice confused.
"Nope."
"You sure?"
"Yep."
"You know I can take your soul right now if your bluffing."
"What? You don't want my gift? I'll just slide him into a lava pit if you're not interested." Maurice said, crossing his arms.
"No! I wanna do that--- but the thing is, I already have a mug. A small mug that said no one in the Mug Village would hire him on Mug Island. He came looking for a job. If he came asking the Devil- he's gotta be desperate." The Devils said, shrugging, "Right, Dice?"
"Yeah, he practically begged Boss to hire him. He's a lot less... kinder? Than any mugs we've met." he replied, nodding.
"Probably a hybrid?" The Devil suggested, crossing his arms.
"Yeah, I figured that too."
Maurice sighed, annoyed, and impatient. "Well- just because you have one doesn't mean you can't get another~" he smiled widely, motioning towards Cuphead.
"You really want me to accept your gift.... fine. I'll keep him or whatever." The Devil said as Maurice's eyes lit up.
"One thing before I leave-" he said, turning to face Cuphead. "If you come back to Inkwell and go anywhere near my Mugman- I'll shatter you myself. So stay away from him."
"Wait- why?" Dice asked suddenly, walking over and inspecting Cuphead.
"It's a Cup, Mr Dice. I don't trust him for a second."
"Why is his arm broken?" the Dice headed man asked, noticing Cuphead holding his arm.
"My wife tossed him down the stairs."
"Is the blood all over his mouth yours?"
"Yep."
"Hm... why would you separate him from Mugman, thought? Aren't they... inseparable or something like that?" Kind Dice asked.
"Not anymore~" Maurice chuckled, crossing his arms, "Look, I want to go take a nap- I need rest badly," he said looking down at the bandages around his arm. "And you." he said walking over to Cuphead- making him turn away from Kind Dice and towards Maurice out of fear. "I'm serious when I say... stay the fuck away from my son." he whispered, point on the bottom on Cuphead's chin, "Did I make myself clear...?"
"Y-Yeah..." he replied as the tip of Maurice's finger glowed.
He pulled away standing up, "Good- and don't forget~ You're worth so much less than your told~ Have a shitty life~" Maurice smiled, turning and walking out of the casino, his hands behind his back. "Make him suffer Devil!"
He and Mr Dice watched as Maurice left than down at the shaking cup. "How's that Mugman's father???" The Devil asked, twice as confused.
"I definitely don't wanna get on his bad side."
