Part 6

Virgil sighed, tapping in the counter of the coffee? He thought that's what they called it. He remembered his Ma drinking something similar, but that was not- what this stuff was. Coffee shop, that's where he worked, a coffee shop. It was boring, and Janus couldn't come around, he was stuck to wander the streets or stay at the inn. Neither a lot of fun. Virgil smiled to a costumer, glancing down at his note pad.

"Hello! Welcome to Lava Java! What can I get for you today?" Virgil greeted cheerfully. The customer nodded, Virgil thanked the fact his the language of angels still worked for him, the language of angels just meant any angel could speak their chosen language, and it would sound like whatever language they needed it to.

"Can I get a large black coffee?" Virgil was thankful for that too. Being able to understand any language. Being an angel had its perks. He nodded, writing it down. Now that... was not something angels were taught. He had to struggle through it. He wrote what he hoped looked like large black coffee, smiling.

"That will be $4.27" They nodded, giving Virgil the amount, thankfully exactly. Virgil didn't have to struggle. He honestly shouldn't of gotten this job. He set the notepad down, turning to the person who made pretty good coffee. "Large black coffee" Matt, Virgil believed it was, nodded.

Virgil sighed, rustling his hair a little. He watched the dark streets around him carefully, watching as a red haired fellow locked eyes with him. He quickly looked away, walking a little fast. He noticed how the other fell in step behind him. Virgil turned down alleyways and streets, trying to lose them.

"Hey" they said, right next to Virgil now. Virgil panicked, running into a dark alley and hiding in his pure black wings. "I just wanted to say hi... I did come off strong though... I think?" The person continued down the street, sighing slightly. Virgil breathed a sigh of relief, letting his wings vanish again before getting up and walking back to the inn where Janus laid on the beds, most definitely not asleep.

"Hey Jan..." Virgil mumbled. Janus waved, still face down in the covers. "You tired?" Janus whined. Virgil chuckled lightly, locking the door and flopping on the bed next to him. "Come 'ere Jan..." Virgil whispered, letting out his wings and wrapping them around Janus. "It's ok... sleep for now..." Janus nodded, leaning into Virgil and passing out.

Virgil stared at the ceiling, looking over at Janus who shifted before bolting up.

"What's wrong? Are you ok?" Janus panted, covering his mouth.

"Something bad is gonna happen to us... we can't stop it- I- I might lose you-" Janus whimpered, biting his inner cheek hard enough to bleed. Virgil quickly wrapped him up in his wings, hugging his.

"I'm not going anywhere, we've changed the future once... we can do it again.. it's okay Jan" Janus nodded, breaking away from Virgil's hold to spit out the blood. Virgil looked towards Janus in the washroom with worry. "Let's go for a walk.. how bout that?" Janus nodded.
