Part 12

"So.... how'd you die?" Janus flinched away, closing his eyes tightly.

"I dunno..." Janus whispered. He screamed as his arm felt like it was breaking. "Stop! Stop stop stop!" Janus yelled, sobbing. "I'm sorry! Stop it! Please! I'm sorry!" Janus cried, holding his arm. The pain suddenly vanished, and Janus sobbed in relief.

"Tell me! That's all you have to do, tell me how you and your brother died" Remus growled. Janus flinched back.

"I don't know! As an angel, our memories are taken away from the day we die! So I don't know!" Janus cried. "I don't know" Janus whispered. Remus quirked a brow.

"Memories are never truly forgotten, only repressed" Remus said with a grin.

Virgil shivered lightly, watching as Roman paced the room.

"Is it hot in here? I think it's hot in here. Are you hot?" Roman said loudly, looking at Virgil as he stopped. Virgil flinched back, shaking his head, watching the flames lick at Romans hair and arms, he clenched his eyes shut, his wings holding him tightly. Roman seemed to paused, at least from his rambling, and Virgil listened as Roman left the room.

Janus held his arms tightly, wanting his brother. His eyes drooped close for a moment, before he bolted up. He rubbed his eyes a little, backing up into a corner quickly as the door opened. However, it wasn't the normal slamming open as Remus would do, it was quiet, calculated, and plus the door was glowing blue, all of that leading to the fact that this wasn't anyone Janus knew. A head peered in, their eyes glowing blue. Janus perked up, knowing who it was.

"Logan?" Janus whispered. He knew this man from his visions. Logan paused with a confused frown before he nodded and stepped into the room, closing the door behind him.

"Yes, your Virgil's brother correct?" Janus nodded, relaxing slightly before a smell hit his nose, he backed up quickly.

"You smell like smoke" Janus said in a slightly panicked tone. Logan nodded.

"Yes, I apologize for that, Roman is... never mind, I need you to follow me alright?" Janus bit his lip lightly, but nodded. He knew Logan was here to help, he had to have been. He raised his handcuffed hands, showing them to Logan. Logan nodded, and the cuffs, along with Logan's eyes flashed blue before a soft click was heard and Janus was free.

"Thank you" Janus whispered, rubbing at his eyes again. Logan nodded, opening the door silently once more.

"Let's go, be quiet, and please don't make me have to knock you out" Janus flinched a little, nodding regardless.

"I'm bored, and hungry... are you hungry? I can cook really well, do you want food? I'll go get you whatever you want. Whatca want to eat?" Roman rambled as he walked in again. Virgil flinched back into the corner, holding the pencil tightly just in case. Virgil's stomach growled, much to his dismay. "You are! So, what do you wanna eat? I'm sure I can make whatever you want." Roman rambled lightly. Virgil whimpered a little at the boldness, holding himself. Roman seemed to notice, and sat down a good ways away. "Am I begin to forward?" Virgil nodded. "Okay... let's start over. Are you hungry?" Virgil shyly nodded. "Okay..." Roman muttered. "Anything specific?" Virgil shook his head lightly, his eyes focused on the ground right in front of Roman. "Do you like spicy things?" Virgil shrugged lightly, and Roman frowned. "Alright! I'll make you something okay?" Virgil held the pencil tightly, nodding. He watched as Romans shadow left the room, only then letting out a shaky breath, slowly getting up, and with silent feet, grabbing the pillow and large blanket off the bed before scurrying back to his corner. He quickly made up a little bed like thing, settling the pillow in the corner before settling into the surprisingly comfortable makeshift bed. He wrapped the blanket Logan had given him around himself, melting into the slight warmth. He shivered again, still cold. He almost whined, before fluffing his wings up to try and make more heat. It didn't work.

"Hey! I made food! You want some? It's just some chicken noodle soup! I can leave it right here and leave if you want, but I can stay too, whatever you want!" Roman smiled, holding the bowl out to Virgil. Virgil shivered again,  hesitantly taking the bowl full of soup. Virgil glanced at Roman, taking a small bite. You could see his eyes like up.

"This tastes like Ma's recipe!" Virgil said cheerfully, a large smile covering his face. "How'd you do it?" Virgil whispered amazed before realizing what he did and curling back into himself. Roman smiled softly, shrugging.

"Enjoy" Roman said with a grin. "Do you want me to leave the room and let you be?" Virgil bit his lip. With Roman around, the room was warmer, but he knew that was from Romans fire power, and he didn't want to be around that.

"I... I don't like your fire, but you make the room warm.." Virgil's aid softly, explaining his thoughts a little. Roman laughed lightly.

"I won't use my fire power things if you don't want me to, I can also get you another blanket if it's make you feel better? Or turn up the heat?" Virgil furrowed his brow, looking up.

"Could... could you just like.. back up a like and stay there?" Virgil mumbled. Roman nodded, going to sit against the wall opposite of Virgil. Virgil nodded lightly, relaxing into the corner.

Janus panicked, running ahead of Logan, doing as he was told, his wings flapping uselessly as he ran. He wiped at the tears in his eyes, tripping over his own feet. He sobbed as someone grabbed him, his wings beating against the person.

"Janus!" Logan said harshly. Janus gasped lightly, folding his wings and curling into Logan, sobbing. The images flashing in his head furthering him into this spiral he was in. "It's alright... calm yourself, look at me Janus" Logan muttered softly, carrying Janus as he began to walk back. Janus looked up, sniffling a little. "Your okay, and Roman is watching over Virgil. As much as he is an idiot, he wouldn't let him get hurt you hear me?" Janus nodded lightly, wiping harshly at his eyes, Logan shook his head with a small scoff. "Your hands are covered in dirt" Logan mentioned, wiping Janus' tears away with a clean cloth he had in his coat. Janus sobbed a little, taking the cloth from Logan and wiping at his eyes.

"I'm sorry" Janus whispered.

"For what? You didn't do anything" Janus mumbled something, looking down. "What was that?"

"I tripped and made lots of noise" Janus said, pausing to yawn loudly, rubbing at his eyes again.

"You were fine, that wasn't your fault." Logan explained. "Rest Janus. You need it"

"Can't.." Janus muttered, leaning his head on Logan. Logan quirked a brow. "V... isn't here...." Janus muttered, falling asleep for a solid minute on Logan's shoulder before bolting up again. He rubbed at his eyes.

Virgil hummed in content, setting the now half empty bowl down, watching as Roman finished his off completely. Virgil snuggled into his blanket a little more, frowning as he realized how long it had been since he had seen Janus.

"Where is.."

"V!" Virgil's head shot up, looking over to the door, seeing Janus barreling towards him. "Virgil!" Janus giggled. Virgil sat in shock for a moment before swiftly taking him under his wings, putting the blanket back over the two. "I missed you... and I'm sleepy" Janus muttered, his excitement wearing off quickly.

"Go to bed Jan..." Virgil muttered, holding him tightly. "I'm not going anywhere this time, I promise" Janus nodded sleepily, curling into Virgil.

"G'night... tell people's... night..." Janus mumbled falling asleep mid sentence. Virgil glanced around at Logan and Roman, frowning lightly and holding Janus impossibly closer out of habit. Logan took the hint, his eyes glowing blue as he made the half empty soup bowl float over to him.

"Let's go Roman" Logan muttered, nodding to the door.
