Joshua

Joshua had always envisioned himself as someone else, someone more noticed and admired. Turning into a lion was not what he meant by that. Just as Joshua was coming in for the kill, teeth bared with Alexa cornered, something in his mind snapped back into reality. What am I doing? Just because this girl makes my life miserable everyday doesn't mean I have to kill her! Joshua halted a foot away from a cowering Alexa and rushed back into the lavatory. Luckily, no one had decided to use the restrooms in the small period of time and he bolted into a handicap stall, allowing his lion-self to take up all the necessary space. Suddenly realisation came at him all at once. Anger. Lion. Alexa. Joshua's back legs buckled underneath him due to the entire scenario. He laid his mane against the cool tiled floor. Though it was probably germ-infested, he wished nothing more than to relax and breathe out the remaining turmoil and adrenaline that had been pumping in his veins but a moment ago. Almost instantaneously, a tingling sensation shot up through his right side, making him wince, shutting his eyes. It was not that he was in any pain, it was just that it was a similar sensation of being tickled, succumbing to any resistance and biting your lip, so that it doesn't seem to feel as unpleasant. The tingling sensation filled his entire right half and then began to transition to his right, starting with his left leg. Joshua writhed, trying to shake off the sensation in any way possible. The tingling snaked up his right leg, encasing it in the most horrid torture, known demand. Finally, after what felt like a minute, he opened his eyes, already preparing himself yet again to stare at his fur-infested body. But familiar slightly-tanned skin lined his body in its place. A deranged chuckled escaped his throat, sounding more like a mix between a petrified cat and horse neighing. Footsteps suddenly sounded from the entrance of the lavatory. The door of the stall he had been wincing in, swung open to reveal a tall rugged-looking guy.

"I know the bathroom floors also make good beds, but I seriously need to go, so hurry up, dude," he said.

Joshua climbed into bed, still somewhat shaky from the day he had endured through. He recalled climbing out of the restroom, spotting Alexa at the corner of his eye, leaving with her group of minions, following her at her heels as if nothing had ever happened. Afterwards, he had to come down to the conclusion that he had a mere hallucination. Not that he felt any better yet, knowing that it was a hallucination. If he was starting to go insane, then what did that make him? A lunatic? And that anger that had suddenly befallen upon him. Was he suffering from anger issues as well as hallucinations? All these questions seemed to be endless, but only unconvincing answers replied in return. Okay, well, say for a moment that it wasn't a hallucination. How could something as inconceivable ever happened? Turning into a lion only happens in dreams. Something suddenly arose from the back of his mind. What was it with that fortune cookie? Everything that has happened since has happened after the fortune cookie. Was it drugged? Was that it? Yes, that must be it; I'll get checked out tomorrow, he thought and with that, he fell sound asleep, his hand atop his fortune from the cookie.
