Although you didn't look too much different since becoming a fae, it did take some getting used to yourself again. Everything felt just slightly different enough that you were struggling to function in your newfound body. Rhys was caring to you, trying to make sure you were getting your footing in the new life whilst also keeping hold of what had made you the human that he fell for.

Your main self-conscious thoughts had always been based on that he was out of your league due to being a fae, but it only got worse since you had become one yourself. Even if he said he loved you, you felt lesser than him due to seemingly being a lesser form. You had hoped that would change when you were on a level footing as fae's, but it only lost you the excuse that the differences were due to you being a human. Now you were on an even playing field and it only made you feel worse about yourself, expecting Rhys to begin to see you in the same light that you did.

Rhysand had noticed you acting a bit more awkwardly than normal, but as you started to lose your smile and sparkle that had first intrigued him, that's when he begun to get concerned.

"What's going on with you?" He questioned, raising your chin to force you to look him in the eye.

"Nothing," you whispered, a false smile on your face.

He inspected your expression, looking through your fake happiness to see your true nature of nerves and panic on top of your self-loathing.

"Do not lie to me, Y/N," he said softly. "I cannot help you if I do not know what is wrong."

You didn't want to tell him the truth, but you knew it would only make things worse if you continued to be dishonest with the person that you loved so dearly.

"I do not feel worthy of you," you whispered. "You are perfection, I am nothing."

Rhys shook his head, moving his hand up past your jaw to cup your cheek. He leaned down to rest his forehead to yours, establishing the closeness and compassion that he hoped he always expressed to you.

"You are my everything," he stated. "There is no one I want in my life more than you. You are my person and I'm going to love you forever."

His lips gently pressed to yours as though to seal the truth of his words.
