Since returning to the Spring Court, you had done everything you could to keep up your mental shield up in your head to keep everyone out, especially Rhysand. You wanted to find happiness in the home you had formed at Rosehall and knew that the High Lord of the Night Court could pry as he pleased and learn more about your time there than you ever wanted anyone to see of your mind. For the first time, you had torn down the shield; taken away everything you could to make your mind as open to the High Fae who had forced a bond between you.

You never thought that you would see the day that you would be desperate for him to come to your aid, but you were grateful when he did arrive to break down the barrier that Tamlin had surrounded the manor with. You practically threw yourself out of the door, finally able to escape the building that you had been locked within. Your body was shaking as you tried to stay on your feet and for once appreciated the closeness of Rhys when he held you up, stopping you from tumbling to the ground.

"What happened?" He asked. "Since you've learnt to shield, your thoughts are not anywhere nearly that loud."

"Please just get me out of here," you begged. "Please."

It wasn't hard for him to see the sincerity in your voice. You had done your best to find a way out of the deal you had with him, keep him away from you as much as possible but now it was far from that, far from the person he had known you to be in the time you had known one another.

He didn't argue. He didn't make it a habit to do as he was told but he agreed to listen to you and get you away from the Spring Court, not knowing what had happened to cause you to wish to flee but wanting to make sure you were safe.

Your breathing was erratic. You didn't care what Tamlin would say, what anyone would say to you seeking refuge in the Night Court; all you cared about was getting away from the prison that was once your home and were somewhere, anywhere that felt remotely safe and currently that was going to be far from there.
