Amren- Necklace (c)

You were back in your bedroom, trying to tidy up after the mess you had ended up in when you heard a knock at your door. You had barely cleaned the dirt and blood from your face, but you headed to the door, expecting it to be Rhys there to tell you off for your reckless behaviour, when out of the group, you were hardly the most reckless. It wasn't Rhys though, it was Amren. Her dark hair was dishevelled and her tanned skin tainted in the same manner as yours, coated in the blood of the fools that started the fight and dirt coating nearly every inch of her. Her silver eyes were still a mystery, no expression upon her face.

"Amren," you said with a gentle nod, never knowing how to brace the beginning of a conversation with her. You may have been friends for years, but she was still as illusive and mysterious as she ever had been.

"For you," she stated thrusting a box into your hand.

You were confused. You opened the small box to reveal a shining necklace, jewels of bright green and the metal as clear and beautiful as the silver of Amren's eyes. You looked up from the necklace to smile at the High Fae before you.

"You saved me out there," she stated. "It's not often I need saving and I don't like feeling like I owe anyone anything or that I am reliant on them. I am grateful for you saving me."

"Those bastards didn't think it through. I know you could have taken them without me, but I wasn't going to let them have a whole army try to take down a single female," you shrugged. "You don't owe me anything for standing up for a friend."

Her jaw locked as she let out a deep breath through her nose, trying to formulate her thoughts and how to say them. The act in itself was meaningful, Amren rarely thought of her words before saying them, caring little for others reactions.

"Keep the necklace. I got it before you were even born, and it has been a prized part of my collection but I believe that it will suit you well and be a gesture of gratitude."

You looked down once again before closing the box and smiling warmly to her, not wanting to let your grimy hands taint the bright and shiny metal.

"Thank you," you said. "It means a lot from you."
