Upon making it to the rooftop of the cathedral, he sees the mysterious stranger covered in an ethereal glow. Y/N carefully made his way across the breaking roof, some of the slates he was walking on would end up sliding off and falling into the dilapidated structure.

Entering the tower-like area, the mysterious stranger let out a light chuckle. For someone claiming to be old, he had the voice of a young man.

Mysterious Stranger: Well done. Now, then...the time has come to show you who I truly am. I was Prince Marth of Altea. I was...the 5th king of Archanea. Hello, old friend.

Y/N was confused as to what he meant by "old friend." But he covers his eyes as the mysterious stranger, now known as Marth, begun to glow an ethereal blue. The light dies down and Y/N uncovers his eyes. Marth was now adorned with a fairly fancy raiment, adorned with a dark blue cape and golden engravings on some of the armor plating. The blue-eyed man in front of him also had dark blue hair, him having a golden circlet upon his head.

Marth: The War of Heroes was a merciless event...many thousands of years ago, those who were once allies, had turned enemy against each other. I, for one, knew as such because I was there. But, I did not lose my life then. But still, I have remained in spirit form, watching the land. (turns to look at Halidom) When I first saw you, I didn't think it was wise to overwhelm you while your memory was still fragile, and it still is. So rather than that, I thought it was best to assume a temporary form. Forgive me. But I think you are now ready. Ready to hear what happened, many years ago.

As I once said, the War of Heroes was a merciless event. After the War of Shadows, peace was brought to the once land of Archanea, as it is now known as Ylisse today. A dear friend of mine, Hardin, had become the Emperor of Archanea and married his dear beloved, Nyna, while I returned to my homeland Altea to wed my wife, Caeda. The land was prosperous and we were in a time of peace, until an old enemy of mine had come back, Gharnef.

Gharnef was a sorcerer and posed himself as a merchant to get close to Hardin. Hardin had found out that Nyna never loved him, simply doing her obligation to marry him as the last of the royal family. The dark sorcerer used this as an advantage to manipulate him. And, he was successful, with the use of a dark relic known as the Darksphere, which slowly corrupted Hardin's mind. Now under the influence of the Darksphere, Hardin sought to conquer the world. Before, he promised prosperity to all, but that would soon turn to ash. Many would oppose his campaign...I was one of them. During this campaign of ours, our army and I had came across a plateau and we looked up in the sky. We saw two figures, one of them was a woman, and the other was a man. These were a strange pair, but we quickly accepted them as they wished to help our cause.

They were from another world, one of them was a princess who supposedly had a sacred power, and with a loyal knight with a sacred sword to seal the darkness. With their help, we were able to eliminate Hardin...I was the one who took his life. Hardin had expressed his gratitude for freeing him from the shackles of the Darksphere and asked me to tell Nyna that he loved her with all her heart and how he asked for forgiveness. And I did...but our goal for peace was not over yet. Gharnef's true intention was to revive an old enemy...an enemy in the previous war, the War of Shadows.

Gharnef was successful, the dark sorcerer had revived the Earth Dragon, Medeus. I had drew the sacred blade Falchion once more to aid me in the crisis, along with the loyal knight of the princess that had come to help us. And finally, we had ended Gharnef and Medeus for good, we all thought peace and prosperity would finally come as I was selected to be the 5th King of Archanea. But it was then what came next...there were these creatures that had suddenly appeared and started attacking our borders and outskirts. Villages that had settled there were subject to these attacks. The princess had told us that these creatures had come from her world.

But, it seemed we had a saving grace upon us. These great moving structures and mechanical autonomous warriors that had suddenly appeared started to push these mysterious enemies back. The autonomous soldiers were known as the Guardians. And these giant mechanical wonders were what the princess called "Divine Beasts," and they were not alone. Aboard these Divine Beasts were their pilots, skilled individuals that came from their world that they called Champions. They had told us of a great evil was coming...something we weren't expecting. They called this evil "Calamity Ganon." But to understand what Calamity Ganon was, we had to delve deeper into the history of the evil's origins.

The land was called Hyrule, where these six individuals hailed from. There were stories of Ganon being sealed away, passed down from generation to generation in the form of legends and fairy tales. But there was also...a prophecy. The mechanical wonders that were in their possession were created by the princess's distant ancestors. With these relics, the princess's sacred power, and the knight's sword that seals the darkness, we thought we were sure to be able to seal away this great evil.

But our preparations were all for naught. When we first saw Calamity Ganon...it was truly a terrifying sight to see. Ganon had come up with a plan that none of us had ever saw. He had erupted from the skies, his Malice corrupting those that stood in it's path. Ganon had seized control of the Divine Beasts and the Guardians, turning them against us. The Champions had lost their lives...but those who escaped...were now on the run. Archanea had fallen into ruins...and the loyal knight to the princess was gravely wounded. He collapsed while defending us and his princess. Our land had been devastated. However, the princess and I had survived. I had instructed my wife Caeda and the rest of our allies to hide themselves away, while the princess and I had come to face Ganon alone.

The years would pass, and one thousand years before now...descent of my family would come to seal away another great evil. A dragon by the name of Grima. Since then, Grima and Ganon had started to work together, the Calamity going into a deep slumber alongside Grima when he was first slain by the First Exalt. Peace would soon come and this devastated land of Archanea would then become known as Ylisse, splitting itself into countries. The country of Ylisse with the neighboring countries of Plegia and Ferox. However, these two great evils would soon arise again.

Marth: ...That princess...that princess of Hyrule was known as Zelda. I had fallen in battle while protecting her...and yet...I never got to see my family...not even once. Since then, I have waited for many years in spirit form. And the courageous knight that had protected us right up to the very end... (looks to Y/N) That knight was none other than you, Y/N.

The blonde grunts slightly at this revelation. He was the so-called knight that had fallen many years ago. So much time had passed and he was stuck in a long slumber in that chamber.

Marth: You fought valiantly when your fate took an unfortunate turn. And then, you were taken to that Shrine of Resurrection, something that had been recreated from your realm. Here you now stand, revitalized after a very long slumber. I have lost count over the years. Those words of guidance that you have been hearing since your awakening are from Princess Zelda herself. Even now, as she works to restrain Ganon from gods knows where, she calls out for your help. However, her power will soon be exhausted. Once that happens, Ganon and Grima will freely regenerate themselves and nothing will stop them from consuming the land. Considering I could not save my kingdom, no, the whole continent, I have no right to ask this of you, Y/N... (clenches fist) But I am powerless here...please old friend...you must save her...save this world...save Zelda and this world's inhabitants. And do whatever it takes to annihilate Ganon and Grima.

Y/N closes his eyes and begins to ponder of what he had just heard. He then remembered the flash of that smile he had seen when he first entered and stared upon the statue of the holy being. Zelda's smile. Opening his eyes, he nods determinedly.

Marth: Thank you, my friend. Somehow, Ganon has maintained control over all four Divine Beasts, as which they are scattered across the land. Vah Naboris in Plegia, Vah Medoh in Ferox, and both Vah Rudania and Vah Ruta are in the continent of Valm. As for the Guardians, well, they are scattered around the world, roaming the land. Some have been inactive for quite some time, but should you draw near them, they may reactivate themselves. I believe it would be quite reckless if you were to search for Ganon and Grima. No one knows where they are slumbering. For what I suggest, I suggest you head for Regna Ferox to receive training. I have no doubt of your skills, but considering you have been asleep for quite a while, I suggest you head there to regain your skills. To get there, head further north of here as south leads to Ylisstol, the capital of Ylisse. If you keep following the road north, you will come across the Longfort. Do beware of the temperature as Ferox can tend to be quite cold. The map on your Sheikah Slate will show you the way, should you get lost.

The former blue-haired king sighs as he puts his ethereal hand on Y/N's shoulder. Y/N looked at it for a moment before he looks back to Marth, a small smile on the king's face.

Marth: This will be the last time we may see each other, old friend. I do wish we had more time to talk, but I'm afraid your journey starts now. And before you go, please take this. It was something that once belonged to you. Now, I'm simply returning it.

Something appeared in Y/N's hands. It was a paraglider, a handy item that allows the user to sail safely through the skies.

Marth: With your paraglider back, you should be able to descend safely down the plateau. I believe...I believe that's it. I've told you everything I can...or at least, everything I know. Y/N...you must...save this world...goodbye...old friend...

The old Archanean king begins to glow an ethereal blue, now disappearing from sight. But, Y/N didn't forget that smile Marth had. It was then, it piqued in his mind.

An early memory from before he fell. When he first landed here, a hand had extended towards him. As soon as he looked up, it was Marth, him having that same smile as he introduced himself. Looking to the north, he sees the road leading up to a mountainous region. It was where Marth had suggested him to go.

Looking back to the entrance of where he had woken up, he took a deep breath before looking north once more. Descending down the temple, he goes towards the edge of the plateau. It was a long drop, one that would kill him if he simply jumped off. Taking a few steps back, he took a running start before jumping off, quickly taking out his paraglider as he begins to slowly descend down through the air.

Y/N's journey had begun.
