Mirror Mirror

Most days in Grimmauld Place, Sirius would sit alone at the table with an open bottle of Fire Whisky and a mirror in front of him. He'd stare at the mirror for hours. No one really understood why he did that, not until Remus noticed what the mirror was.

"Damn it, Moony! Why won't he contact me?" Sirius cried. He was sitting in the basement as usual, only this time Remus was with him.

"Sirius, you can't keep on expecting him to contact you. He has school and Umbridge to avoid. Harry'll talk to when he wants to." Remus sighed.

"It's been nearly six months, Remus." Sirius said dryly. "He doesn't want anything to do with me, does he?"

"Of course he does, Sirius. It's just tough at Hogwarts at the moment. You'll see him soon."

"I want to see him now! And I can't use it incase someone else finds it and discovers that Harry knows where I am." Sirius said, hitting his head off the table repeatedly. "I'm a terrible godfather. I barely even talked to him when he was here!"

"Well-"

"He probably thinks I only see him as James, not him! What if he's scared that I don't like him because he isn't his dad?! Maybe h-"

Sirius was going to continue ranting, but Remus had slapped across the face, hard. Sirius looked startled and held a hand to his face, rubbing the area that got hit.

"For the love of Merlin, Sirius. I love you and all, but you're giving me a bloody headache with your constant whining." Remus said. "Now, I know it's torture for you to stay here. But moping around and feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to change anything. Trust me, Harry loves you and does want to speak to you, just it's too risky for him. You don't want him in serious trouble, do you?"

Sirius looked down at his hands and shook his head.

"Sorry for such an ass." Sirius sighed, his grey eyes finding Remus's green ones.

"I'm used to it by now." Remus chuckled. "Now, I don't know about you, but this basement is extremely cold. Care to join me somewhere warmer?"

Remus stood up and held his hand out for Sirius to take, a mischievous smile on his face and twinkle in his eyes.

"That sounds delightful." Sirius said smirking, taking Remus's hand and following him upstairs.

It's fair to say that the mirror didn't trouble Sirius for the rest of the day ... and night, in fact.
