Howl on Christmas

"It's Christmas! It's Christmas! IIIIT'S CHRIIIIISTMAAAAAS!" Sirius yelled as he jumped on Remus.

Remus, who had been ignoring Sirius' loud cries of joy for the past half an hour, lazily picked up his wand, aimed it at Sirius, and silence fell. Sirius sat down on their bed, feeling insulted that his partner wasn't as excited as he was.

Poke ... poke ... poke ...  po .... poke poke poke

"Alright!" Remus groaned irratedly as Sirius was about to poke his  bare ribs again. Lifting the silencing spell he awaited the stabbing pains in his head caused by the excited puppy.

"Hey, Rem, get out of bed." Sirius said softly, resting his head on Remus' shoulder. Remus groaned pitifuly in reply.

"Look, I know it's a full moon tonight, but that gives you more of a reason to enjoy today." Sirius said, now sitting and playing with his boyfriends messy hair. "And anyway, James and Lily are coming round with Harry in a couple of hours, you don't want to miss seeing them, do you?"

Sighing, Remus finally turned to face Sirius, from the soft light streaming in through the curtains he saw the concern on his face.

"Alright, I'm getting up. Just give me time, I feel awful." He groaned. He shuffled so he was on his back, the tired and drained werewolf sat up and dragged himself out of bed.

"Of course. Come through soon though, to have breakfast." Sirius said. And after gently kissing his partners forhead, he left to go make them both breakfast.

Of course that had been the plan anyway; drag the tires werewolf out of bed, stuff him full of chocolate, and give him a happiness potion for when the Potters turn up. However, Sirius only managed one out of the three tasks he had set out to do. After a sickening chocolate breakfast, the two of them sat in their living room, laughing at the odd and yet really needed gifts they got from each other. It's safe to say that Sirius had enough dogs chew toys to last him twelve years, and Remus had enough fluffy, 'wonderfully' decorated socks to last him a lifetime.

At the back of three there was a loud knock on the door. Sirius had a, well, serious expression on his face as he drew his wand, and crept up to the door.

"Who is it?" He said in a voice that sounded nothing like his usual. Remus shook his head with embarrassment, of course he'd be dating the odd one.

"Bloody hell Pads is that you? Merlins beard I don't want to know what's been happening behind that door." A man said with a slightly disgust in his tone.

"For the love of Merlin, James. It's us, Lily Potter, her tosspot of a husband James Potter and our little trouble maker Harry Potter." Lily said. "Now can you let us in, Harry wants to see you two and it's bloody freezing."

Knowing everything was fine, Sirius opened the door to let his family in. The Potters had transported all their presents there so the group could open them together.

"Hey, Moony, d'you know where Peter is?" James asked as he unwrapped a badly wrapped present from the absent man.

"Yeah, he's with his mum today, she isn't well and it is Christmas so he didn't want her to be alone." Remus replied.

"Fair enough."

"Mo-monom" Harry said happily, playing with a ribbon.

"He still hasn't said anything coherent yet." Lily sighed. "Soon though, hopefully."

"Lily he's six months old, does he even have the ability to talk yet?" Remus asked.

"I dunno, James?"

"Honestly, I have no idea Moony." James laughed.

"Mo. Mon. Monee. Moony. Moony." Harry laughed.

All the adults stopped what they were doing, looked down at the happy little boy, then looked up at Remus, who had a rather surprised look on his face.

"He said mummy-" Remus started

"No he didn't." Lily said, cutting him. "At least you were his first word, instead of the colourful few his father likes to blurt out."

"I don't know what the fuck you're on about Lils." James laughed. "Sirius, mate, are you alright.?" He had seen a slightly angry expression on his friends face.

"No, I am not alright. Your child is broken, Prongs, Lily. Harry needs to sort his priorities. Padfoot, or his adorable baby gargle of an attempt would have been peachy. But no, it's bloody moon moon who is the chosen one." Sirius said quickly, as he crossed his arms in a huff. His three friends burst out laughing. It would seem, that Sirius' drama queen tendencies hadn't lessened as the years had gone by.

That's how the rest of their day passes. Lots of laughter, more drama queen outbursts, and fun with the presents. But as the sun was going to set and the full moon was going to rise, it was time for the Potters to head home to safety, and time for Remus to head out for his transformation.

"Good luck tonight." James had said before he'd followed Lily with a sleeping Harry in her arms out the door. With a weak, empty smile of thanks, Remus shut the door and sighed. Already he could feel the wolf within itching to get out.

"It's time for me to go. I'll see you tomorrow." Remus sighed. He hugged Sirius tightly before taking off his clothes and handing them to him. "I don't want to rip another jumper, I like this one."

Sirius smiled, understanding completely, and with a final wave, he watched Remus walk out into the woods behind their house. It wasn't long until the howls started.

As the night wore on, Sirius sat on the windowsill of their bedroom, looking up at the moon, and wondering if a certain werewolf was looking at it too.
