7- Inuyasha×Moonlight

"Wait Kagome where are you going!!" Moonlight shouted towards her friend. It seems like her voice fell to deaf ears as she chased the raven-haired girl. It was a wonder to the brunette where her friend was running off to. She tried to reach for Kagome's hand but failed to do so, and noticed that she was falling into a well along with Kagome.

"M-Moonlight what are you-" Kagome tried to say but was interrupted by the bright lights that came to be after they reached the bottom of the well.

"Kagome, what's going on??!!!"

Moonlight looked around and noticed that the lights had faded. The sound of forest critters filled her ears as she looked up above.

"Oh no, what have I done??!!" Kagome talked to herself as she started pacing around and around. "M-Moonlight, please don't panic, but-"

"It's okay Kagome, just tell me brief."

"Ok, well, you see-"

Again the young girls were interrupted by the loud roar of an unknown beast.

"We have no time to explain. Quick, follow me, we have to find a safer place!" Kagome ordered while climbing up the vines that were growing down into the well. Moonlight followed suite, and couldn't help but feel nervous about the ruckus occurring above. It was then that she started hearing shouts far in the distance.

"OOOIII SHIPPO, DO YOU KNOW WHERE KAGOME WENT???!!!! WE NEED HER TO HELP US FIND THE SACRED JEWEL PIECE HIDDEN IN THIS DEMON!!"

"I DON'T KNOW, LET ME GO CHECK!!" Once Moonlight was close to the surface, she spotted what appeared to be a very small child with a fluffy tail. Moonlight couldn't help but squeal and think, he's so cute! The child appeared to be looking for something, or someone, and his eyes widened when they landed on Kagome. "KAGOME!!! COME QUICK!!! WE NEED YOU TO FIND THE SACRED JEWEL!!!" Kagome quickly jumped out of the well, and looked back to offer a hand to Moonlight. "Moon-chan, grab my hand!! I have to take you to someplace safe and fast!!" Trusting her friend, the brunette took Kagome's hand and ran behind her. Moonlight craned her neck towards the approaching stomps of the beast and gasped at its height. She saw a blur of red and white fighting the monstrosity and slashing at its various arms with a brilliant and large sword. The sword managed to slice through some arms, a dark black substance oozing from the injured areas. To Moonlight's surprise, however, the detached limbs flew back to the body of the creature and again it tried to swat at the red blur. The creature's bulging yellow eyes met Moonlight's own eyes and it soon drew a hand close to her.

"Moonlight watch out!"

The hand seized the said girl from the ground, causing her to scream.

"OI YOU BEAST, LET HER GO!!" Moonlight looked over to the male voice who shouted and got a better view of the figure she had initially seen as a blur. It was a young boy how looked to be about her age with long silvery white hair and....dog ears? She had no time to think since the boy slashed his sword by the monster's arm and caught her. Moonlight gasped, and met the golden brown eyes of the boy, who in return looked back at her and appeared to have a hint of pink dusting his cheeks.

"H-Hey girl, what are ya lookin' at?" The boy said to the brunette still in his arms. Moonlight shook her head and then realized that they had already landed. She also noticed that the boy was carrying her bridal style and her face flushed red.

"What's the matter?" The yellow eyed boy asked, but his attention soon returned to the demon he was fighting.

"Don't leave your enemy unsupervised you half demon," the creature spat at the boy. Half demon? Moonlight questioned in her mind.

"Heh, I don't need to pay much attention to a weak pathetic excuse of a demon like you," the boy answered back with a smirk. The demon became enraged and shouted, "How dare a mere half breed of a demon think that it could be stronger than I!" It tried slashing at the confident boy who merely jumped backwards with the pink eyed girl.

"Hey, Kagome!!! Do me a favor and tell me where the Sacred Jewel fragment is, I'd really appreciate that!"

Moonlight wondered what the boy was talking about and only looked at the demon to see something glow within its center.

"I see something glowing in the middle of that thing," Moonlight murmured. Her words reached the boy's ears, and was about to say something before he heard his friend yell.

"Inuyasha!! Aim for the center of the beast!" Kagome shouted clearly for the named half demon.

"Now we're talking!"

Inuyasha turned to look at Moonlight and said, "Stay here behind this tree and don't move. I don't want you getting hurt or something." He placed the girl back on the ground and dashed towards the roaring demon and unsheathed his sword and stabbed the monster smack in the middle. The demon started shriveling up and soon fell and tumbled to the ground, moving no more.

Inuyasha walked over to the remains of the demon and bent down to obtain a shining piece of what Moonlight predicted to be the Sacred Jewel that she's been hearing them talk about.

"We've got another Jewel piece!" the small voice belonging to the small fox like child cheered as he got closer to the demon boy. Moonlight decided that the coast was clear and came out of the tree she was hiding behind. She decided that she couldn't contain herself and went to hug the small child. "You're so cute!!" She cooed.

"Oi lady I'm not a small toy!! I-I'd appreciate it if you let me go," the small child stammered while blushing. He secretly didn't mind the attention he was receiving from the girl.

"Sorry, I couldn't help it," Moonlight apologized and placed the boy on the ground.

"Who are you anyway?" Inuyasha questioned while scratching his neck. He got closer to the girl to inspect her, causing Moonlight to blush from the close contact.

"SIT!"

At those words, the white haired boy faceplanted down to the ground. It definitely looked painful. "Oh dear, are you alright?!" Moonlight asked as she kneeled down to help Inuyasha get up. "Curse that Kagome!" Inuyasha muttered under his breath.

"Inuyasha, you should be a little nicer to people you don't know,"Kagome lectured as she came closer.

"Geez, you could have said that instead of saying that command," Inuyasha complained as he rubbed his face. Moonlight noticed a cut on his face and moved closer to his face. "You have a cut on your face!" She touched the exact spot and Inuyasha tensed, backing away, and noticed how warm her touch was. His face turned slightly pink, and he averted his eyes saying, "I'm fine."

"Are you sure? Here, let me see," Moonlight insisted. When Inuyasha turned to look at her again, the mark she saw was gone, leaving no trace of it behind. "I-It healed."

"Which is exactly why you don't have to worry about me," Inuyasha explained, though he touched the spot that was healed. It did heal quicker than it normally does, and it already heals pretty quickly, Inuyasha noticed.

"Woah, that's so cool!" Moonlight exclaimed and Inuyasha blushed slightly, lifting his chin high, and said, "That's just a little something that comes with being a half-demon."

"Then are you half human too?"

"E-Er, sorta yeah... though I belong to neither group." Inuyasha's demeanor fell, and Moonlight felt bad. "Sorry if that brought up anything you don't want to remember."

"It's fine, I'm no weakling that's for sure! What do you take me for eh?"

Moonlight giggled at Inuyasha's change in attitude. Kagome looked at Inuyasha and thought to herself, he's already grown since the first time I met him...

"Hey Kagome?" Moonlight waved in front of the raven haired girl's face. "I think you've got some explaining to do," said Moonlight as she crossed her arms.

Kagome shook her head as she smiled at her friend. "Then let's take a seat somewhere."

Kagome explained everything to Moonlight from start to finish, including how she was the reincarnation of a powerful priestess named Kikyo and of the whole ordeal with the Sacred Jewel. Moonlight could only hearken with much awe. It was until Kagome explained how she could see the fragments of the powerful gem that Moonlight interrupted her.

"Um, Kagome, I think I might be able to do that as well."

"What?!" The group shouted in a flabbergasted manner. "Earlier, I saw something bright shining in the monster," Moonlight continued. "At first I thought that it was probably just the way the demon looked, but then you pointed at that exact spot and with what you've told me, I'd say that I'm also able to see them."

"Well now we have two girls who can find and sense the jewel pieces," Shippo stated while jumping into the air. "Yeah, now we don't have to always rely on Kagome," Inuyasha commented, causing the normally cheery girl to become aggravated.

"Oh yeah, and what's that supposed to mean eh?" Kagome challenged, getting up and poking Inuyasha's chest.

"Oh nothing, just that sometimes you just barely pull through," Inuyasha replied with a hint of a growl. Immediately the two started arguing while the fox demon and the other human girl tried separating them. In a matter of seconds the two huffed and walked their separate ways.

"Kagome!!" Shippo cried out to the girl who stomped away.

Moonlight looked both ways, and ultimately went to follow Inuyasha, his loud stomps being a clear indication of his whereabouts.

When she finally caught up to him, she saw the long haired boy sitting by a lake, his back facing her.

Moonlight walked silently behind Inuyasha and flinched when she heard him say, "I can hear your footsteps from a mile a way. There's no need to be trying to act sneaky."

Moonlight dropped her foot and walked swiftly over to Inuyasha and plopped down beside him. "Are you alright Inuyasha?"

"S-Sure, I just need to cool off for a bit." Inuyasha wasn't sure why he was being so inhibitant around the pink eyed girl. He shifted slightly away, which resulted in him slipping into the clear lake. He reached the surface and spat the water in his mouth only to hear a couple of cute giggles. He blushed furiously, and saw the brunette look at him weirdly while laughing. "What's so funny eh???!!!"

"So-Sorry, but you just tumbling into the water was just so random, I-I can't-" Moonlight tried to say but stopped since she started having a laughing fit. Inuyasha's ear twitched as he felt a twinge of annoyance, but sighed, and joined her laughter. An idea flickered into his brain, and he smirked as he grabbed Moonlight's hand and pulled her into the lake with him. Moonlight squeaked and shivered immediately, and pouted as she saw Inuyasha laugh. She decided that she would splash some of the cool liquid over to Inuyasha, who retaliated, and the two commenced a water fight. Of course, the fighting wasn't too serious; the two were having a blast! The two finally grew tired after what seemed like an hour of having fun splashing water. Inuyasha pulled Moonlight out of the water gently, and then got out himself. "Blagh, my clothes are sticking to me," Inuyasha muttered to himself as he inspected himself. Moonlight looked over to see what Inuyasha meant, and blushed at the sight. Inuyasha decided to take his top off, exposing his chest. He looked very well built, and Moonlight felt her face burning, the fact being that she couldn't keep her eyes away. Inuyasha turned around and placed his red shirt over a branch so the sun would hopefully dry it off. He turned back to see the brunette girl and looked questioningly at her. "Hey why's your face so red?" He walked closer to her and went to inspect her face. If possible her face grew even more scarlet, and Inuyasha shrugged and sat next to Moonlight. Aghhh, what do I say? Moonlight kept repeating to herself in her mind. She was suddenly brought into consciousness when she heard Inuyasha mumble something.

"W-What was that?"

"I said thanks," Inuyasha repeated louder this time and blushed while averting his gaze. "You helped me relax, and not really worry about Kagome for a while. I don't really know what to say. I don't really understand my own feelings, and it's just confusing for me. But, you seem different from Kagome and this other girl I know." Inuyasha's eyes lowered as he stared off into space. Moonlight wondered how she could help the white haired boy, and placed her hand over his. "Well, just follow what your heart is saying. Listen to what it says. And don't forget that you should at least try to talk things out with someone, and remember that emotions can really confuse you, and they take time. I'm not sure what's really going on, but I'd rather you not hurt my friend's heart and just be gentle with whatever you do."

Inuyasha looked over to Moonlight, being taken aback by her words. "Talking stuff out isn't really my thing, but to be honest, I'm not sure why but I feel like I can trust you a lot. It's weird though, because I used to never trust anyone, and I only met you today. I can't wrap my head around it."

Moonlight smiled, and hugged Inuyasha. He slowly rose his arms up and hugged Moonlight, and felt his heart beat rapidly. He wasn't sure what was going to happen in the future, but his heart is telling him that all will make sense soon.

Time did pass, and Inuyasha found that he was understanding his emotions more and more. He realized that Kikyo, his first love wasn't going to ever be fixed into the state it once had been. The resentment that Kikyo felt for him was too strong, a resentment created by one of Naraku's many tricks. He didn't think he wanted to hurt his friends anymore because of her. He also started to notice his heart loved someone else. It definitely wasn't Kagome; the more and more he thought about the feelings he thought he had for her, the more he convinced himself that he saw her as a sister that he wanted to see happy and protected, a sister he never had. He didn't understand this feeling due to the fact that he always fought with his own half-brother, Sesshomaru. But he concluded that his heart belongs to Moonlight. She had only joined their adventures helping them find the Sacred Jewels a while ago, but with the time they spent together at night, and the close moments they had, he became convinced that Moonlight was his new love. He decided that he would at least try to confess to the brunette.

He hopped from tree to tree searching for the pink-eyed girl, allowing his nose to lead the way. He spotted her training with both a demon-slaying sword and some arrows. She was progressing a lot faster as an archer than Kagome, and during one of their adventures she found a sword that was made to kill demons, as she had been informed by Sango, and decided to teach her.

Moonlight felt the presence of Inuyasha, and turned to the tree he was perching on. "Hey Inuyasha!" Moonlight chirped, waving. Inuyasha smiled and jumped down from the tree. "Moonlight, I kinda wanna talk to you about something." Moonlight cocked her head to the side, curious as to what Inuyasha was going to say, and nodded, picking her sword up at least and walked over to him. "It's best to not be unarmed," Moonlight commented.

"You've got nothing to worry about! You know that I'll be able to protect you, right?"

Moonlight blushed, nodding. "Yeah, but it's best that I don't leave my sword. It can always fall into the wrong hands if something happens."

Inuyasha rolled his eyes and said, "Yeah, yeah. Just follow me."

Inuyasha and Moonlight walked side by side, the brunette keeping close to Inuyasha as he led her to someplace. They walked for a few minutes. Moonlight noticed that the trees were thinning and that they were arriving to a cliff. "What is it that you want to talk about?"

Inuyasha looked at Moonlight, and found himself glancing at her lips from time to time. "Remember when we first met, sorta?"

Moonlight grinned, and replied, "Yup, it was when I first came to the Feudal Era, and you were fighting a demon."

"Yeah, but remember that conversation we had, about me being confused with my feelings?"

"Yeah?" Moonlight looked at Inuyasha, her heart's speed picking up. She remembered everything like it was yesterday. For her, it was the day she started falling in love for the half demon.

"Well, I'm no longer confused about them. You're right, I listened to my heart, and I was able to figure out what I felt for Kagome and Kikyo. I was able to figure out who I really love."

Moonlight felt herself start becoming depressed. She thought that she was going to have a chance against the two girls who also held feelings for the boy. She was about to turn to leave until Inuyasha grasped her shoulders and turned her back, grabbing her chin and bringing her face close to his.

"The truth is, I really love you, Moonlight. I don't love Kagome, nor do I love Kikyo. You've caught my heart. It belongs to you."

Inuyasha destroyed the space left between himself and the girl, and kissed Moonlight passionately, his love flowing through this kiss. Moonlight was surprised but soon reciprocated the kiss. Their hearts beated rapidly, each beat creating a song between the two. It was their own love song, a song that described all of their love for each other, their desires, their need for the other. It was a beautiful feeling. Their need for air broke the connection, but only for a moment as they continued kissing each other under the red sun. In that moment that they had broken apart, Moonlight breathed out, "I love you too Inuyasha."

Awwws, what a nice way to end this one-shot. What did you think, Moon-chan? I hope that this was to your liking, and that no one was that OOC. I really like how this turned out, and I hope you do too Moonlight123345 :3
