10- Moonlight×Inuyasha~~
"Argh, dammit, where's Kagome??" Inuyasha whined impatiently while tapping his foot, his arms crossed.
"From the looks of it, she's still in her own world. It's been a while since Kagome-san has been here," said Miroku while he rubbed his chin.
"Yeah, she said something about preparing for a test," Shippo informes the group while he licked a lollipop given to him by the raven-haired girl.
"Well there's no time to wait for her to come back by herself, we need her now," Inuyasha exasperated. He walked promptly to the well that joined the two eras together and hopped into it, ignoring the cries of his comrades. The usual blue and purple colors of the time traveling background took place, and soon faded as Inuyasha arrived to the present time. He jumped out of the well, and ran out of the shrine that hid the time traveling device.
It was broad daylight outside of the shrine. He slightly rose his arm to shield his eyes from the blazing sun. Once his eyes readjusted to the great contrast in light, he started sniffing the air, and suddenly caught a whiff of Kagome's scent, even if it was a very light smell mixed in with the rest of the other scents.
While jumping towards the place Kagome was most likely located in, Inuyasha couldn't help but smell what appeared to be to different smells that smelled like Kagome. He decided to break from his route and check to make sure he wasn't confusing their smells.
Meanwhile somewhere in Saotome Academy a girl named Moonlight was busy paying attention to her lecture. It was just one of those days where they were watching some films of old idols and studying them, causing the brunette to yawn a bit. She looked at the bell and noticed that the bell rang, signaling the end of classes. She shot up from her seat along with her peers and practically flew out of the classroom.
She thought that she would spend the rest of her afternoon outside while reading her book. She walked outside and was met with a nice cool breeze.
While looking at the clear blue sky, she couldn't help but notice a tiny red dot, a dot which seemed to grow larger and larger. What...?? Moonlight thought as she noticed the dot turn into a figure, and realized that something, or someone was falling! She squealed and crouched down while covering her head, and then heard a thump. She looked and was definitely surprised by the being in front of her. A boy with long white hair was standing in front of her dressed in a red kimono while wearing a weird necklace of sorts, a sword by his waist. He was barefoot, and a pair of white dog-like ears adorned his head.
Moonlight blushed as she tried to describe the boy. She concluded that he was a mixture of being handsome and adorable, half of each if you will.
The boy leaned in close to the brunette, which worsened her blush. "Hey, why do you smell like Kagome?" The boy muttered as he took another whiff.
"E-Excuse me?" Moonlight questioned.
The boy shook his head and was about to leave before Moonlight called out to him.
"Hold up, who are you???"
The white haired boy turned around and smirked, pointed to his chest and said, "I'm Inuyasha. Though I've got to go now, so see ya!"
Moonlight couldn't get the boy out of her mind. She saw him bounce in and out of her life like a basketball. He definitely didn't seem like a human, to her at least. She noticed how his ears twitched and the length of his sharp nails which looked more like claws. She hoped to see him again someday, even though it's been a while since she's seen the boy.
Going window shopping, she couldn't help but notice a beautiful necklace that was on sale. It was a crystal butterfly with a circular amethyst stone in the center. She immediately went into the store to buy it, and came out of that store, wearing the long necklace around her neck. She clutched it in her hand and opened her hand, getting a closer look at it. She noticed her reflection in it, and smiled. "The color of the butterfly reminds me of Inuyasha's eyes. I wish I could go see him again."
The butterfly glowed, and soon Moonlight was also shining. She gasped as she noticed her surroundings warp into a mix of colors, mainly purple and pink. She closed her eyes and heard the sound of something flapping.
Her eyelids fluttered open and she held her breath. She was flying on a golden butterfly! Moonlight looked down and saw that she still had her butterfly necklace but noticed that the gem was gleaming. The place where the brunette was sitting on was also shining brightly, and Moonlight reasoned in her mind that she was controlling the butterfly through the necklace.
"I wonder where it's taking me," she muttered to no one in particular.
She peered over the butterfly and noticed the vast plains and green forests as well as the mountainous regions.
I wonder where I am, Moonlight thought to herself.
She relaxed the tension she had in her muscles earlier and then tensed up when she felt the butterfly swoop down dangerously close to the land. It was then that she finally saw the boy she longed to see again. The breeze blew and combed through Inuyasha's long silvery strands, and his ears picked up a peculiar noise, signaling that there was someone nearby. He turned his head and looked up to see a giant butterfly coming his way along with a familiar looking girl.
His arm involuntarily reached for his sword but stopped midway when he made eye contact with the pink eyed girl. He noticed how the wind blew her hair away from her face and seemed to float in mid air.
The golden butterfly landed on the ground and laid down one wing for Moonlight to slide down on. She slid down and fell, her tush hitting the ground. She got herself up and rubbed her tush, and dusted herself off.
"Hey you! You're that girl from Kagome's world aren't you?" Inuyasha walked over to the girl and eyed her up and down.
"Yeah, I am! It looks like you remember me, Inuyasha," Moonlight noted, a grin tugging at her lips.
Inuyasha said, "Of course! I don't forget faces, plus you smell kinda like Kagome, a friend of mine."
A little ginger-haired boy eating a bag of chips popped up behind Inuyasha. "Cripes, Inuyasha, you know this girl?"
Inuyasha nodded, and suddenly became infuriated.
"Hey, Shippo, don't eat my chips you darn kid."
Inuyasha punched the smaller boy's head and grabbed the bag of chips.
"Hey, Inuyasha, you didn't have to do that to the poor kid," Moonlight said while reaching out and carrying the kid in her arms. The child noticed how Moonlight was taking his side and sniffled, allowing tears to fall down his face.
"Miiiissss, please don't let him hit meeee, I only wanted some chips," the child whimpered, burying his face into her chest.
Moonlight had an idea and fished out a blue lollipop from her pocket and handed it to the boy. "Here you go, you can have this lollipop."
The small child's eyes lit up and with much gusto took the small candy and removed the wrapper, popping the delicate treat into his mouth. "Thank you very much Miss?"
"Moonlight, my name is Moonlight," the brunette answered while giggling at the child's joyful expression.
"And I'm Shippo! I'm a fox cub demon," the said child introduced himself while gesturing to himself.
Moonlight heard a "humph!" and looked to see Inuyasha frowning while crossing his arms over his chest.
"What's the matter?" Moonlight questioned as she neared the white-haired boy.
Shippo jumped out of Moonlight's arms and looked at Inuyasha. "I think Inuyasha looks jealous," the ginger-haired boy observed. Inuyasha growled and clenched his fist, showing it menacingly to Shippo. Shippo squeaked and hid behind Moonlight, hugging her leg tightly. Inuyasha let his fist fall and shifted away from the brunette, murmuring, "Shaddup."
Three figures approached the trio, three people Inuyasha and Shippo immediately recognized.
"Oi, Miroku, what took you three so long to find a place to stay. Normally you always get a place by lying through your teeth about some miasma or evil density plaguing the place," Inuyasha bickered.
"Actually, we did find a demon roaming their home," said a raven-haired girl Moonlight recognized. She couldn't put her finger on it though
"For once the lecherous monk was right, though he was convinced even more to take that village because of the girls," the dark brown-haired girl said while glaring at the monk who sweat dropped. He rose his hands up defensively and said, "Now, now, at least we have a place to stay for the night." Moonlight caught the monk's attention, and quickly he approached the girl while holding her hands in both of his own.
"I'm Miroku and who might you be, beautiful?" Miroku asked suggestively. A chill ran up Moonlight's spine. Inuyasha growled and quickly separated the two. "Don't get near her and start with your "will you bear my children?" antics you idiot," Inuyasha spat while standing in front of Moonlight protectively. Moonlight appeared perplexed from what Inuyasha said. She of course was flattered by how protective he was acting, but the part about baring children made her face pale and as a result she felt uncomfortable. Kagome noticed this and went over to hopefully relax the brunette.
"Don't worry about it, Miroku is a nice guy when you get used to him, despite his perverse nature," Kagome explained while laughing nervously. Sango went over as well and said, "Yeah, like Kagome-chan said, he's not that bad once you get to know him. Just don't listen to him when he asks that question."
"Alright, if you say so," Moonlight responded while sighing.
The group went over to the village and invited Moonlight to join them. They explained to her what they did and told her of both their misadventures and adventures.
"Hey Moonlight, from the looks of it, you're not exactly from here," Sango said finally when the conversation was starting to dissipate.
"She isn't. I saw her over back in Kagome's world," Inuyasha said while munching on an apple that he took from the food they were offered.
"Really? What school do you go to?" Kagome asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Moonlight smiled, and said, "I go to Saotome Academy."
"Oh!! Your school is near mine. I think I've actually seen you before!" Kagome exclaimed. That's when Moonlight's memory flickered onto a memory of when she bumped into someone on the way to school.
"Oh yeah, I bumped into you once. You seemed to be in a rush while I was heading back to my campus," Moonlight recalled. "Plus you said your name was Kagome, right?" The raven haired girl nodded.
"I remember hearing rumors about you always being sick and falling ill of some of the most allegedly random diseases. I guess I now know where you've been," Moonlight said while watching the girl's shoulders slump.
"Oh no, now I've become a part of rumors," Kagome said in a depressed tone.
"Oh don't worry about it Kagome, you've got a really good reason for missing school," Moonlight tried to say in order to cheer up the girl.
"Thanks Moonlight, in a way it is a cover up for what I have to do," said Kagome when she looked up at Moonlight and gave her a faint smile.
"Though I don't know how Inuyasha met you," Miroku interrupted.
Inuyasha jumped up, and said "She smelled sort of like Kagome, and just to be safe, I checked to make sure it wasn't Kagome. Though don't ask me why she smells like her. And I left quickly, so nothing happened just so you know." He crossed his arms, secretly nervous of what remarks they might make from his last sentence.
"Smells like her? I wonder why," Sango wondered. "Could she have spiritual powers like Kagome?" Shippo said. "Don't be stu- wait, that might be it," Inuyasha said, thinking about how Moonlight was on a golden butterfly.
"Spiritual powers? I have them?" Moonlight asked, both surprised and amazed at the discovered fact. She looked straight down at her necklace and saw it gleam. "That could be why I managed to get here, with this necklace," she said while holding up the necklace that was around her neck. Everyone looked at the butterfly necklace and Miroku got closer to inspect it. "This looks like one of those jewelries that are given to priestesses with the animal that protects them and helps fight with them against demons," Miroku said, presenting the information he knew about the necklace on Moonlight.
"It seems to have chosen you Moonlight," said Miroku, smiling at the pink-eyed girl. "You're a priestess."
"A-A priestess?" Moonlight queried, pointing at herself.
"Yup, this necklace is proof of that."
Moonlight let that sink in. "Well, I think we should sleep now," Kagome said, figuring that Moonlight would probably like some time to think that over. Everyone got ready for bed, and Moonlight slept on her own futon. She shivered slightly, not having worn something warm, and saw something red fall over her. She looked up into the eyes of Inuyasha, who said, "Here, take that. That'll warm you right up." He returned back to his spot by the window, and Moonlight whispered, "Thank you Inuyasha." She blushed as she put on the upper part of his kimono and snuggled into the warmth it had to offer. Inuyasha looked back to find Moonlight fast asleep. He debated on what he was about to do, and took the risk and pecked the girl on the lips. He blushed furiously. Then he felt someone poke him. He turned around and met Kagome's gaze. "Y-You saw nothing!!!" Inuyasha whisper shouted, trying his best not to awaken the rest of the group. Kagome smiled softly, already knowing what was happening. "It's okay Inuyasha, I know you're falling for her. When you came for me, I saw that you changed a bit. I know the reason why now. Plus I saw how you looked at her and stole glances at her."
Inuyasha looked away, and humphed, but thought about his feelings. After seeing the girl, he found that he couldn't stop thinking about her. It was as if he was destined to be with her. He decided that he would confess to her by tomorrow.
When the sun rose, Inuyasha was the first to wake up, and he looked over and saw that Moonlight was waking up slowly. He thought that it was best to make it quick and wanted to get it over with. He tip toed swiftly over to the brunette, trying not to wake anyone else up. He saw Moonlight's eyes flutter open, her beautiful rose colored eyes looking around before finding his approaching figure. "Inuyasha?" Moonlight questioned, her voice still having the sleepy undertones.
"I want to say something," Inuyasha whispered hesitantly, taking quick glances at the sleeping faces. Moonlight nodded, now fully awake.
Inuyasha finally sighed and took a deep breath. "I think I'm in love with you. I just can't stop thinking about you. You caught my eye from the moment we met back in your world. Will you stay with our group, and be mine?"
Moonlight felt her cheeks flush, and she too confessed. "I feel the same way. I also never missed a day thinking about you and wanting to see you again. Of course I'll be yours!"
Inuyasha felt euphoric, and quickly brought Moonlight close and gave her a quick kiss. He separated from her when he heard a couple of "awwws!" and both heads turned to see everyone awake.
"You guys are now together, yay!" Shippo cheered.
"That was so adorable," Sango and Kagome cooed.
"That was very well done," Miroku praised Inuyasha.
Inuyasha looked like he was about to explode. "Will you guys shaddup!!!!!!"
Moonlight giggled while her face also flushed from the slight embarrassment. She felt her arm get tugged by Inuyasha and she quickly stood to her feet and walked outside with Inuyasha to flee the seeing eyes of his companions, and looked for a quieter isolated place to share another kiss.
