Dance Lessons (40s Stucky)
Stucky:
(Bucky teaching steve to dance)
'We need to go out and do something! I know we don't have much money, but,' Bucky stopped to think for a moment, 'going dancing is free! And fun!'.
Steve backed away a couple steps and shook his head rapidly. Muttering. Bucky couldn't quite hear it. 'What is it Stevie? Are you okay?' He asked, placing his hands on Steve's small shoulders. Steve shook his head again.
'I-I don't want to go out dancing.' He admitted. Bucky laughed, a small smirk on his face.
'Why? Don't you want to meet some bird? Have a little fun?' Bucky asked lightheartedly, but he had hopes for what Steve would say. It was not going to happen. Steve wasn't even that way inclined. He was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he missed Steve's quiet response. 'What did you say?'
'Buck! I can't dance! Besides, no one wants me on a dance floor. They'll step on me.' Steve chuckled, his tone self-deprecating.
'Drive it in the hanger Steve! I'll teach you.' Bucky smirked, dashing over to their cheap radio. Hopefully there would be something with some decent swing. To his luck, there was! Sing Sing Sing, one of his favourites.
He grabbed Steve's arms, ignoring his protests. 'Alright. I'll show you how to lead, then we'll swap.' He chuckled. Steve sighed but tried to copy Bucky's footwork as best he could. He stepped on Bucky's feet a couple times, but neither of them really minded.
The song ended. After another crackle, another similar swing tune filled the room.
'Your turn Stevie!' Bucky smiled.
Steve reluctantly pulled him in, his steps a little more confident. They were having too much fun once the beat started. They swung each other around the small living room, spinning inwards, outwards, enjoying the music and the steps now that they both knew how to do it. Steve was enjoying leading, it was different, pulling Bucky this way and that.
As the music continued, Bucky and Steve attempted a leg lock, causing Bucky to stumble. He regained his balance, laughing off Steve's apologies. Then it was Steve's turn to stumble, stepping on Bucky's feet and sending them both of balance.
Bucky tightened his grip on Steve's shoulders, hoping that he wouldn't hit the deck. Luckily for him, they didn't fall. Instead, in the rush to regain their balance and continue dancing, Steve's lips collided with Bucky's.
They stepped away, both bashfully not looking each other in the eye. Hopefully none of the neighbours looking through their windows had seen it.
'Sorry!' Steve exclaimed.
'Don't be.' Bucky tried to brush it off. Steve let out a small smile and took Bucky's hand. Sure, they'd been holding hands before, but this felt different. Bucky pulled Steve in just as another song started. Swaying to the music, he took an unexpected step forward, purposefully kissing Steve again. They broke apart for air, the surprise gone. 'You know Stevie?'
'Yeah Buck?'
'I'd say that wasn't half bad. What do you say we try again?'
'I'd like that, a lot.' Steve admitted.
