Closet for too long (Stucky)
Steve was wringing his hands. The others in the room were shocked. Some of them sat in disbelief. By some, he noticed it was mostly just Tony. Natasha blinked but didn't look overly surprised. She had probably figured it out months ago. Bucky sat calmly next to Steve on the couch, looking as if nothing unusual had happened.
'So... yeah.' he trailed off. What were you supposed to say after admitting that you were bisexual after making a gay joke unexpectedly.
'With that hair, I'm surprised that you guys didn't pick up on it sooner. And what, tight t-shirts and the occasional flannel? How blind are you guys?' Nat added bluntly, causing half of the room to laugh. Tony still sat gaping like a fish, now defending his poor observation skills.
'Still. He's the pretty boy, the American Star! The poster boy of the 40s!' Tony protested, whilst Bucky snorted. From what he remembered, Steve was hardly any of those things. 'Am I wrong!?' Tony continued, looking around for support and justification to his disbelief.
The others just looked at him like he was stupid. Steve was right, almost everyone else had probably figured it out earlier. It wasn't his fault that he didn't get social cues.
After another good natured chuckle, the others dispersed, leaving him and Bucky on the couch. He was almost lost in his own thoughts. What if he had made a mistake? Was Tony not okay with it, is that why he was in disbelief?
Bucky placed his cool metal hand on Steve's shoulder, the cold seeping through Steve's t-shirt. He waited patiently for Steve to say something, just like when he was the one needing clarity. He understood the overwhelming emotions that kept flicking across Steve's face.
'Did I make a mistake?'
'In doing what Steve?' Bucky asked calmly.
'Outing myself. Tony didn't seem to believe it and -'
'Steve. The others, they're all supportive. Don't worry.' He moved his flesh hand to Steve's cheek, causing the blond to look up. Even though his face was more chiseled, his eyes were still the same. It was like looking into a clear memory that made sense, before the war, before the winter soldier bullshit. Bucky smiled a little, his eyes glossing over.
Steve was a little confused for a moment. Why did Bucky look so lost?
'I'm gay Stevie.' He whispered. He had known for a while, known the word for a while. But the joy on Steve's face was contagious. 'Will you?'
'Will I what?'
'Kiss me, maybe?' Bucky clarified dryly. Steve let out a small laugh before leaning in.
