Chapter 3
'In the loving memory of Mary Janet Fairchild, the brightest star in our lives."
"She doesn't deserve this. Pathetic!"
"Now, now lets not throw a fit. Finally we'll get our justice. An eye for an eye, a son for a son."
"In this case daughter, darling."
Holly was lost reminiscing about her past in town. Old memories followed by a taste of mixed emotions was what she felt at Landon's. The wooden tables and dusky decor hadn't changed a bit. Neither had Molly, the bartender, who'd gone to school with them. Dressed in her signature tank top and fitted jeans with sneakers, she come up to say her condolences and then proceeded to ogle at what she called the ' new meat' at the bar. Ah! The man was probably in his mid twenties and definitely from mot around here. He had an a city air around him.
And he was walking towards her.
As soon as the petite blonde in a tight black dress entered the bar, Jason knew her by sight ' Holly Karen Fairchild', the victims sister and the only one with a solid alibi. She had been in New York during the estimated time of murder attending a press conference which made it impossible for her to even be a suspect.
He'd seen enough pictures of her to admit that she was pretty and the way numerous eyes had cast appreciative glances her way which she deftly ignored, she knew it too. But it was the way she stood apart like a foreigner in her own hometown that made him walk towards the outcast.
" Jason Walker. Sorry about your sister," he greeted, thrusting his hand forwards. Holly gingerly clasped it with her tiny hand and dryly remarked " Oh please Detective..." Her hands though delicate has callouses on them " Don't look so surprised. I do observe a thing or too and you do stick out like a sore thumb." She added with a giggle. Her almost lost grey eyes now held a sharp streak of intelligence. " I would've been impressed by this act if I didn't know you Holls."
