Everyone had noticed how much Dotty was glued to her phone texting when she wasn't working and how much she was even distancing from them all, including Fionn. No one knew why or if they had done anything but they all knew that when she said that she couldn't do something with them off of set because she' had work to do' was utter bullshit.
Everytime someone brought it up, she would claim she was talking to 'nobody' and that caused Fionn to become paranoid. He was scared that she had already gone off of him. The boys had all told him to just talk to her, corner her or do something but Fionn was Fionn and simply tugged at his hair and left it.
However, Dotty didn't realise she was distancing herself that much. She was spending a lot of time talking to Anna but she was also working on a new book she had begun to write back in Ireland. She had already written one and this was the sequel and lately, she had been struck with so many ideas she was writing them on napkins, her hand, her phone, even one point the top of her thigh. As soon as she had the time she continued writing the chapters and transferring her notes to the little notebook she kept in her bag.
It was a Saturday night and the production had only been continuing for the past six days, this was the first day of the first weekend off in Irk and the last night she knew the lads had come back bladdered. Thankfully, when Fionn joined her that evening in her hotel room, he was sober and less sick-feeling than he was at breakfast that morning. He lounged on her bed with his shoes on the floor and his phone in his hand whilst she was sat at the small desk with her laptop typing away at her new chapter, the pair silent over than the taps of Dotty's fingers on the keyboard. They had been sat like that for the two hours previously, they didn't even say a word to each other as she let him in.
Tom:
Just TALK to her! x
Jack:
Ye mate, just ask her about it x
Aneurin:
START TALKING! x
Fionn:
Fine...
Fionn dropped his phone beside him on the bed and stood up plodding over to his girlfriend who he wasn't even sure was still on this side of reality. Wrapping his arms around her shoulders he rested his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes, breathing in the smell of her body wash she had used an hour before he had come to her room. The sound her typing seized and her hands held onto his arms, her head pressing back into his body.
"Hello." She said quietly, the first word either of them had said in the whole of the time they were in each other's presence. "What's up?"
"What's going on with you?" He muttered into the crook of her neck, his breath causing goosebumps to litter her skin.
"What do you mean?"
Fionn retracted his arms and spun her chair around so that she was facing him, picking her hands up and playing with the rings on her fingers. "You are acting distant, is everything okay?"
Dotty frowned, "I am? I didn't realise I was so caught up with work, writing and talking to Anna that I didn't even notice, I'm sorry." She told him.
"Anna? You're talking to Anna?"
Dotty nodded, "She apologised and things. She's okay now."
Fionn sighed, he could already tell she was making a huge mistake but was going to support her decision nonetheless, "Alright, whatever you want to do, but promise me that if she even starts saying the word bitch or any other names, or asks you for anything you'll be out of it?" Dotty held up her pinky finger with a wide grin and chuckling, Fionn looped his pinky finger with hers. "Anyway, what are you working on?" He nodded towards her laptop.
Dotty spun around and pushed her chair backwards slightly, guiding Fionn to stand beside her and she pulled his arm sharply, him falling onto her lap. "My sequel." She replied as Fionn adjusted himself so that his weight was spread evenly and not crushing her entirely, his face crimson at what she had just done without warning.
"Sequel?" Fionn questioned, "You have already written a full book?"
"I have written several, however, this is the first sequel I have ever started, I have been getting so many ideas that's why I have spent most nights this week writing." Dotty smiled saving her work, "I would let you read it but it's only the fourth chapter and I..erm... I don't really-"
"It's fine, Dot, another time maybe, but it would probably be better starting with the first one." Fionn told her, "But not unless you want me to."
"I can send it to you if you want." Dotty smiled loading her emails.
"Only if you are sure you want me to read it, I don't want you to do it just because I want to read it."
Dotty nodded, "I'm sure." She let Fionn type in his email and then she hit send turning the chair, painfully slowly, as she couldn't move her legs much because of Fionn on her. "What do you want to do?"
Fionn stood up and pulled Dotty up after him leading her to the bed and falling onto it so that they were cuddling. They shuffled their bodies so that they were resting against the headboard and kept their arms around each other. "Do you only write books?" Fionn asked Dotty as he twiddled a section of her hair around his fingers.
"I have written other things but I am most proud and confident that they are at least sort of good with my books." She replied trailing the outline of the word 'wow' on his top.
"What other things? Poems? articles, blog posts, songs?" Dotty looked down, "You have written songs?!"
"They are horrible, I just was bored and a few lyrics came to me, nothing special!" She quickly cried, her head falling into Fionn's chest in embarrassment, I wrote most of them when I was fifteen and obsessed with romance books."
"I didn't take you as much of a romance book lover."
"That's because I'm not, I read them from time to time, but I don't go out of my way anymore to read them, I cringe a lot." Dotty laughed, "Are you a romantic?"
"That depends, books? Yes. Movies? Sometimes. You? Always."
"After all this time?! ALWAYS!"Dotty cried clutching her chest, "Sorry, that was sweet, I can't help but do that when someone says always, it's a habit."
Fionn rolled his eyes in amusement, "I meant it, I like romance books, I like some romance movies and I will try my hardest to be romantic with you but I may be a massive flop."
"I don't care whether you are a Bridget Jones when it comes to dating or whether you are so loved-up you recite Shakespeare, I couldn't care less. You are Fionn Whitehead. That's all that matters, right?"
When you think the time is right just do it...
Fionn moved his hand from her hair and cupped her cheek, he leaned his head closer and did it. He captured her slightly chapped lips on his and kept his eyes closed, his thumb running softly across her cheek. Dotty's eyes fell close automatically and despite her not knowing what to do, it was then that she realised that the feeling that people described in books and films about fireworks and butterflies came true. The sensation was unexplainable, she didn't think anything could feel so good; so amazing!
Fionn pulled away moments later, even though he would rather not and that it felt like longer, his forehead rested on hers and their eyes remained closed. Dotty bit her lower lip, the feeling of his lips still on hers and her body felt tingly all over.
Dotty Nolan had just had her first kiss.
With Fionn Whitehead.
Her boyfriend.
Holy moly....
