Staring at your phone a few days later, you hovered over the group chat you'd had with the group. No one had messaged in it since the day you'd broken up, but every now and again you would check to see if they were still talking. Of course, it was most likely that had a new group chat now to complain about how much of a bitch you'd been.
Since seeing them at the awards a couple of days ago, it was all that you could think about and it was starting to send you a little crazy with need. Here you were ready to type a message to see if anyone wanted to meet up for a coffee. Yet, the message never got sent as you flopped on the bed sighing as you stared at the ceiling.
"Why am I so pathetic...I broke up with them to protect them," clenching your pillow, you pushed it over your face into the softness to let out a scream of frustration but not to alarm anyone that may be passing by your room at the moment. Deciding to take your mind off them, you got dressed and headed towards the kitchen to see if anyone needed help with anything now that your dad was still in the hospital.
As soon as Sebastian heard your footsteps, he turned to look at you with a smile, but you looked annoyed. It was clear what you were preoccupied thinking about and had been since the night of the party.
"Ah Miss Yagi, what can I help with?" the butler sounded as if stunned to see the girl.
"Hey Seb, wondered if anyone needed a hand with anything?" pouting, you crossed your arms across your chest.
"Hmm not that I'm aware of. I'm also popping out this afternoon," the black-haired butler commented before smiling, "You could always come and help if you like? Just a little bit of charity work I like to do when I have free time," that caught you off guard, sure, your house butler was simply one hell of a butler with you and your family, but he wasn't concerned about anyone else that didn't impact your lives. The curiosity caught the better of you, wanting to know exactly what type of charity work the man did.
"Sure thing...what time? Do I need to bring anything?" the man hadn't given you much clue as he shook his head.
"Nope, just make sure you wear warm clothes. It is winter after all. We'll be leaving in about an hour. Plenty of time to get some lunch and we can head out," with that the two of you went off doing your own business before you met the man outside.
Having no clue where or what you were doing, it was only right Sebastian drove the two of you in one of the cars. The two of you didn't really speak much on the way to your destination, mostly due to you looking out the window trying to work out where exactly you were going. Sebastian, however, could tell that you were pining which was exactly what the masterminds behind the plan had hoped for.
Pulling into the car park, you actually chuckled as now it made sense what charity work Sebastian would do. The one true thing apart from Grell that the man absolutely loved: Cats. The serious man always turned to putty when it came to the furry felines.
"So, I have to ask what you do here?" glancing at the man he smirked.
"Well I show the cats they're loved of course," in other words, he came to stroke, brush and play with the cats. There were worst things that you could be wasting your Sunday doing, you were actually relieved that this would take your mind off the ten who you missed so much.
Going into the rescue centre, the woman practically swooned when she saw the handsome man with you, walk-in. "Sebastian you came back again," the woman squealed, the image of Grell, killing the woman came to mind if she were here. It could not be more of a vivid image that you couldn't help but giggle, making the woman's gaze turn to you.
At first, she felt threatened by your presence and Sebastian could tell as he turned a deadly gaze to the woman. At the moment you'd not noticed her looking at you, too busy laughing to yourself.
"This is my employer's daughter, I'm sure you know who she is and she has come to help me with my charity work today," his words caught up to you as you looked up.
"Ohh apologies, I'm (f/n). I'd love to help out with the kitties," holding a hand out, the woman took it.
"I'm Patricia, that's great. I'll get you both to it. Sebastian, just do what you usually do. I'll set (f/n) on a different task for the cats," the woman smiled sweetly as if butter wouldn't melt, but jealousy is a cruel son of a bitch. Since the task you'd been set with was clearing the cat litter trays and then you would be allowed to cuddle the cats.
"You know how to change cat litter right? We expect you to clean them as well before putting in new litter," the woman smirked as you just glared daggers at her. It was clear the woman thought you didn't know how to do dirty work.
"Yeh of course I do," snapping a little annoyed at the cockiness of the woman.
"Great. I'll go help with the grooming," the woman smirked before heading straight to where you could hear Sebastian complementing how elegant some cat looked. Sighing in defeat, you went to changing the cat litter trays from each cage, making sure that the cats and kittens in question didn't escape.
It took an hour or so to do all of them, that when you finally put the last one in you sighed and saw the kitten sat on its own staring at you. A fluffy little black cat, the biggest blue eyes that it surprised you that it hadn't been adopted yet.
"Hey there, do you want a cuddle?" holding a hand to the little fluff ball, it was cautious before smelling your hand and then rubbing its tiny face against it. "See I'm not so scary...unlike Patricia. I understand why you're scared," you giggle to yourself, the tiny cat looking at you but obviously not understanding you.
Stroking its head one more time, you felt it best to check in with Sebastian to see if he were done with whatever the hell he'd been up to. However, the tiny cat wasn't done with snuggle as when you went to walk out, it crawled up your leg. It's tiny, needle like claws sticking in your leg and making bite your lip in pain.
"Ok ok. A Little longer," sighing, you sat on the floor with the tiny cat snuggled into your chest. Something in you was being to let loose as you clung to the kitten, also with the need of being wanted. Of course, you were wanted but you felt that those that did shouldn't want you for the way you'd acted.
The longer you sat there, the longer you thought about the action you'd done. It had been selfish; you knew in your heart of hearts that it should have been a discussion and not a decision that you should have made on your own. No matter how much you believed you were protecting them from some invisible threat in your mind. After everything they had been through with you, it was disrespectful of you to be that way.
The more the little bundle slept in your arms, you spoke it, talking about your problems as if saying them out loud somehow made you feel better. When in true fact, it was making you miss the people you loved even more.
Whilst you sat there, a family pulled up to the shelter to collect the little kitten in your arms. As they walked to the reception, there was no one there at first. Then the familiar form of Patricia popped up after hearing the bell on the door.
"We're here to pick up our kitten," a tiny girl all excited to get her new pet, her red eyes shimmering in excitement as her older brother stood looking board, but there was an excitement in his purple eyes. However, there was a different type of kitten he was hoping to see.
"Let me see can I take you name please," Patricia looked to the tired looking adult with onyx eyes, with messy black hair.
"Aizawa," the man commented, no feeling the desire to deal with the woman at the desk but dying to get the cat home and out of the centre. "Can they go ahead to the kitten whilst we finish the paperwork?" Aizawa looked at the woman and then gave a knowing look to his adopted son, Hitoshi.
"Sure thing. You know where the little lady is?" the woman looked to the tall purple haired boy, who just nodded. Of course, he knew where the kitten was for Eri, but he would take the long way round. The reason for that, he knew you were there today and knew that you had come along with Sebastian.
This was Hitoshi Shinso part of the plan. It had been planned for a while, as his family were already planning to get Eri a kitten for Christmas. When Hitoshi made your Gramps aware of this, it set the perfect plan into motion with a little help from the boy's family. The only one in the dark was Eri since she'd never met you.
Eri luckily didn't know what her new kitten looked like, giving them the perfect excuse to walk around the cat section. Yet, it didn't take Hitoshi long to spot the black-haired butler fawning over a group of cats. The man himself glanced at Hitoshi a knowing gleam in his eyes, as a smirked graced his lips.
"I believe you're looking for the little black kitten," was all the man said to Shinso, making him aware of exactly where you currently were. As not to seem eager, he just nodded and began walking in that direction with Eri's hand in his, his heart racing so much he felt it was going to come out of his chest. Although to look at him, he looked like his normal tired self.
As the rounded the corner, you hadn't yet sensed anyone as you sat on the floor with the tiny fluffy cutie in your arms talking to them.
"What do you think? Do you think I should have spoken to them? Yeh you're probably right...I'm such an idiot!" a groan left your lips, making the blue eyes of the kitten glance up at you in annoyance that you had woken it up.
"Don't look at me like that...you're too cute," giggling you finally sensed people looking at you.
"Oshiiii is that our kitten?" a little girl made both you and the kitten jump that it didn't mean to catch your face.
"Eri, you need to calm. Look you scared her," it wasn't aimed at the kitten, it was aimed at you as your eyes went wide looking up to one of the people you were madly in love with stood in front of you, in the flesh.
"I'm sorry. Sorry lady. I didn't mean to scare you," the second voice made you look down to the girl, then back to Hitoshi confused.
"Surprise, Eri!" The guys eyes ran over you as the kitten popped its head now out of its bed it had run to.
"Thank you for looking after my kitten," the white-haired girls smile was huge as you stood stunned. All you could do was nod as the two opened the door, closing the door behind them. The little girl Eri went straight to the kitten, whereas Hitoshi came straight to you. Towering over you, his large, rough thumb rubbed across the small scratch on your cheek. Without meaning to, as if on muscle memory, you nuzzled your cheek into his hand.
"Hey Kitten, I came to collect you," he husk voice whispered next to your ear, his hot breath a comfort you'd missed but all you could do was stand frozen to the spot, your eyes glancing to the side of his face as he kissed your ear.
