Chapter 5: Non-Romantic Date
**Possible Triggers for Bullying. It does not take place in the chapter, but is discussed from the past. **
T'Mar was alone at the library, engrossed in a book. Paper back, just how she liked to read them. Not really digital; she avoided that when possible.
"T'Mar, I would like to ask you if you would like to meet me at my quarters and go one what humans would consider as a date, only not romantically. Just to discuss terms seeing as we might want to try to be more aquatinted with our similar physiology." Spock asked, walking up to T'Mar. She slapped the book down, her eyes widening.
"Did you just ask me out..?" She asked, slowly standing up.
"Yes I believe I did. Is that a yes?" Spock asked, his eyebrow arching like it usually did when he was asking a question or being sassy.
"Oh, uh, Spock. Wow. Just wow. Um, sure. We might as well get to know each other a little more." T'Mar shrugged, smiling at Spock. Spock relaxed in his form and nodded.
"Remember, this is not a romantic gesture. I will see you tonight at 5:00 at my quarters? Just dinner." Spock cleared up, handing T'Mar a slip of paper with the time and address. T'Mar nodded and smiled.
"See you then Spock. And yes, not romantically. Just to get to know each other better." T'Mar agreed. Internally she knew that Spock had a romantic interest in her, he just refused to admit it yet. And T'Mar felt the same way.
That night T'Mar went to his quarters. Spock had prepared pasta for T'Mar and just a salad for him.
"This looks wonderful, thank you." T'Mar said, taking a seat across from Spock. Spock only nodded and went on with it. Female species always baffled him.
"So, what was your childhood like?" Spock asked, taking a bite of salad he had. T'Mar froze, looking down at her food and setting the fork down.
"I was called a freak, a monster, a mut. I was told I should crawl back to the freakish cave from which I came. Coen was the only nice person to me that wasn't in my family or any teacher..." T'Mar muttered, looking down at her feet. "When I got older the taunts got a bit more generic, I would be taunted when I couldn't figure something out or that I was fat or ugly."
"Well I can assure you you are neither of those things." Spock said, his eyes becoming soft and sympathetic. T'Mar smiled a little and wiped tears from her face.
"Thank you Spock, what about you?" T'Mar said, looking up and plastering a smile on her face. Spock nodded and sighed.
"I had a very similar childhood as you did, many taunts and teasings." Spock said, taking a bite of his food before taking T'Mar's hand across the table. "This is not a romantic gathering, but I felt as though I should express sympathy to you."
"Thank you, Spock." T'Mar said, smiling more and more. For a none romantic date, this was very nice.

Sorry if this wasn't very good and that it was short, I kinda have writers block for this book at the moment and I have tons of stuff going on. If anyone has an idea feel free to comment or message me, I'd love to use others ideas in this story. You will get credit too btw.
