Perfect
"Well you see mommy and daddy have very important jobs and really love them, we have a lot of people who wait for Daddy's songs and a lot of people who wait for new episodes of my tv show to come out. We would love to stay home but we have a lot of people who need us" I explained,
"That's ok" Lucy yawned as I tucked her into my old bed and gave her a kiss on the forehead. "Could you or Daddy quit?" She asked tiredly,
"No, that would disappoint a lot of people" I laughed as I turned on her night light and off the main light, I tiptoed down the stairs of my parents house and joined them downstairs but of course they had to be watching 'The Clock Strikes'
"Turn it off" I laughed as my face appeared on the screen, "we will certainly not" my dad chuckled as he switched off the television and stood up to say goodbye, "you know the whole point of them staying here is so that you can have a break" he smiled, "I know but it's hard" I smiled as salty tears stung my eyes. "Can I stay here tonight?" I asked, wiping my eyes before any tears could fall, "you're always welcome" my mom said, getting a bed ready for me but I insisted that I just sleep with Lucy.
I got dressed into a pair of old pajamas that were still in my drawer and lay next to Lucy who was already asleep, a cot was perched against the wall where my dresser used to be, beneath a BTS poster which made me laugh every time I saw it. The only reason the cot was there is because Tommy and I stayed here for a bout a week when we moved from the apartment to the house and my parents won't take it down because we sleep over too often.
I lay my head against the soft pillow and closed my heavy eyelids, memories already racing away from me, I'm not certain what I'd forgotten because every single detail had been pulled away, it happens occasionally especially with anniversaries and birthdays.
I felt Lucy stirring in her sleep and begin to cry but I couldn't move, my body stayed still as she grabbed my limp hand and held it close, hoping I'd awake and soothe her but it wasn't working. I heard my bedroom door open and my mother creep in, she sat next to Lucy and cuddled her for a minute before reading her a short story to fall back asleep. I felt horrible, if I were normal I would have woken up instantly but my mom probably thinks I didn't care and Lucy would soon forget about it but with each second I listened in on their conversations my head cramped up with too much information, I wasn't capable of knowing too much at once, I didn't have the mental capacity.
I didn't have much to sort so I arose at around 5:45 which was acceptable, I tiptoed downstairs and poured myself a bowl of fruit loops and began eating, scrolling through Twitter. Pictures were released of tommy and I getting into the argument before getting into the car at the supermarket, pictures were also taken of me leaving the car in frustration that I honestly didn't care about because it wasn't gonna affect me in any way.
My mom had left for work and my dad and Lucy were both still asleep but Robyn was fully awake and screaming every two seconds. "Roby stop" I warned, pointing my finger at her but she continued to scream just to annoy me,
"Robyn Anika Young What is the matter with you?" I asked in frustration as I picked her out of her high chair and walked outside into the bright glaring sun, "let's play outside, huh?" I smiled as she began waddling across the grass. I wouldn't let her near the patio in case she fell which meant I had to sit on the dew ridden grass and get all wet.
Robyn eventually grew bored and decided she wanted to sit on my lap while we were on the grass, "should we take a picture?" I asked as if she'd respond, I pulled out my phone as she began laughing, "what are you laughing about?" I smiled, tickling her and leaving my phone down which made her laugh more.
We lay on the grass for about an hour, playing with a plastic ball I found in the shed until eventually she began to grow tired. "Early nap time?" I asked as she yawned, "guess so" I whispered as I picked her up and brought her inside, I cradled her until we reached my bedroom where she had already fallen asleep.
I glanced at Lucy who was surprisingly still sound asleep, 11:37, I shook her awake but she was resentful, "I don't wanna get up" she howled, kicking the duvets off the bed making herself cold, "come on" I smiled as I picked up the blanket from the floor and folded it up, "grandpa's downstairs making pancakes" I persuaded as she instantly bolted upright, "I'm not tired anymore!" She screamed as I got her dressed and she ran downstairs.
I received a text on my phone from Dad, pictures he had taken, I opened them up and immediately smiled, he must have seen me putting my phone away to play with Robyn and took photos because they were taken on his professional camera, zoomed in of the both of us laughing, Robyn half in the air from laughing and me reacting to how silly she was acting, now that was good enough to be framed.
The day went slow and uneventful, I spent time with my daughters and my dad, doing all sorts of things like arts and crafts to bored games, just fun stuff.
I continued to glance at my phone, 28 missed calls from 'Tommy❤️' I ordered Dad not to pick up anything he received from Tommy, he tried talking me out of it but Tommy needed to learn a lesson.
"Vanessa" he whispered over Lucy bossing Robyn around about what colors she should and shouldn't use in her drawing, he nudged his head towards the office, indicating he wanted to talk.
"Come on Dad, you would do the same if it happened with Mom and her reversed" I complained as he tried convincing me to forgive him easily.
"Vanessa you have a lot to appreciate in life" he sighed, "look at your sister for example, after the big YouTube scam you were both left with little money and you went in the same direction. You got the job, the husband, two kids and the good pay while she got an ex boyfriend, a kid and an apartment on the outskirts of town working in an office, who has it better?" He asked, raising his eyebrow.
"What does that have to do with anything?" I asked, beginning to leave but he pulled me back, "all I'm saying is that you're taking it for granted, Veronica had a very valid excuse to not let Chance back into her life whereas you and Tommy have it perfect, talk it out" he explained as I stopped to think, sadly he was right. Veronica didn't think twice about letting Chance back into her life even though he never offered once, she did what she had to do to raise her son as a single parent even if that meant having a job she never wanted, living an hour and a half away from everyone else and worst of all facing it all on her own.
(Finally building up to the good part!😜)
