"I'm telling you...we don't have to go." I complained.
"We can just have breakfast and go into town! Or go explore something...somewhere.." I pout, hugging one of the pillows while I lay in bed.

"Edith that is rude, you weren't raised like this. And don't forget that they're the only neighbors we have around, so do remind me; for how long are we going to be here? We need to make a good impression." Ruth argued, as she continued making the bed I was currently laying on, but that didn't stop her and just like that I was off the bed.

"I mean, I don't have to go? You can go on my behalf! Tell them I'm busy or something.."

She paused and gave me a look of disapproval. "Dear, we are going and it is over." She insisted and continued to finish making the bed. "Now go shower and get dressed, I'll go prepare breakfast."

Once again, I just give up arguing with her. I wonder sometimes why do I even listen to her...
But then I remember she's like the big sister I never had, and I'm grateful for her for so many things...like that time she caught me sneaking out and stopped me from getting a tattoo during my Johnny Depp phase because I thought they looked cool on him.

After I was done with my morning routine, the best part of the day came; which is picking an outfit. I packed a lot of new dresses I bought just for this summer, that is what I'm going for which is being comfortable and I cannot wait to wear them all.
"Let's see....this one." For today I picked this tie-shoulder ditsy floral light blue midi dress, it had this cute little ribbon over the bust and I paired it with a simple gold bracelet, keeping in mind I can wear a hat with it later, and for now I just brushed my black hair behind my ears. "There, all set."

"Ruth, it smells amazing! As always!~ " I announced as I walked downstairs with the smell of the breakfast Ruth have prepared already blessing my nostrils. I was greeted by a smiling face as I walked into the kitchen.

"Billy!" I smiled and sat next to him. "You are already here?~"

"Found him watering the plants outside on the porch, took me a lot to get him inside." Ruth commented.

Billy chuckled. "Mrs. Molina I promise you I already had breakfast an hour ago!"

I nudged him gently. "Don't even try, it's useless! There's no winning an argument against Ruth!" I giggled. "Besides you have to join us anyway, from now if you're here during meals you're joining us, and you have all day if you want to work on something." I add.

"All right- oh! My father sends both his greetings and condolences...I'm sorry I wasn't aware that Mr.Beckett have passed away I-.." his tone changed and he became all nervous.

I sighed a bit at the mention of my father's death but patted his shoulder regardless.
"Thank you for your kind words, and thank your father for me." The boy smiled a bit and nodded.

Breakfast lasted longer than I thought, it was probably because the three of us spent half of it talking about the estate, and Billy went on about the town and all the things we can do during our stay.

"Promise it is not to be missed! Almost everyone will be going." Billy said as he took his plate to the sink.

"Town fair you say? Okay I'm sold!~" I get up taking my plate to the sink as well.

"I'm more interested in the farmer's market, fresh groceries are always preferred." Ruth added.

Soon after breakfast, Ruth took care of the dishes while I joined Billy outside as he watered some plants, and sat on one of the porch chairs.
"I gotta say, I was expecting to see more animals around." I mumbled.

"Yeah there's no use for animals around here if you're not in the business, and I believe Mr. Beckett...may he Rest In Peace, wasn't planning on moving on with the family's old business..since he sold all the livestock after he left.." Billy said back.

I hummed in response. "I guess I don't know what I was expecting really, just hoping to see some cows heh.." I laughed a bit.

Billy glanced at me with a smile before turning his attention back to the plants. "Well, the neighbors got some cows and other animals, you'll get to see at least from afar later.." he said.

"Oh don't remind me, if you couldn't tell I'm not so thrilled to meet them...I was before, but not after I almost— wait. Tell me, did you find out which one is the jerk who almost killed me last night?" I ask him, and he shrugged.

"Not really, I did ask however..Mr.Callan said he'd clear things up later today." He shrugged.

I crossed my arms with a frown on my face, maybe I do need to go over there and demand an explanation with a better apology, especially from whoever it was last night with the rifle.
Until then, I decided to go make a list of the things I'd like to do while staying here. which going to be for almost 4 weeks, so almost a month, unless I got bored by then....we will see.

After grabbing a notebook, I made my way back outside and took a seat on the porch.
"Let's see..." I started planning our stay here, and It wasn't going to be any different from our different lifestyle, except instead of getting up extra early to make my way to the park, I have all of this space for my workouts, in the extra fresh- weird but fresh air.

I believe my Spanish lessons are only going to get better since I'm stuck alone here with Ruth, and I can practice with her at any time. Speaking of, maybe I should hold a get-together with my friends later, once I'm used to the place more.

I know I'm probably not going to Check any of these ideas or touch this notebook again, but it is good to keep them in mind. Along with practicing Spanish, I thought maybe I can try and learn another language like Turkish, I always liked how it sounds in tv shows.
I thought of different hobbies I can pick up this summer, but I know deep down I'll end up dropping them and waste my time reading the books I brought, I brought with me enough trilogies to last me the whole summer.

One thing I almost forgot about is my surprise for Ruth. Well, I didn't forget about it but just didn't make up my mind on how to execute it. I still haven't made up my mind if I want to fly her back or fly Maria here.
Ruth's daughter Maria, would either join us with her husband during the summer or Ruth would leave us for a while to spend time with her. This summer, I thought I'll invite her over to join us with her husband here, but the problem is..she is pregnant. Like heavily, pregnant.
Is she even allowed to fly? I have no idea, but I can check with her later and come up with something, like flying Ruth back instead. Because she deserves time with her own family, and I can't have all to myself all summer.

That means I might have to be all alone here, and I don't think I like this idea.
My eyes fell on Billy who's working on some plants not too far away from where I'm sitting.
"Hey, Billy?"

He raised his head and looked back at me. "Yeah?"

"You're not going anywhere right?" I asked.
He seemed confused at my sudden question.

"What? Where?...... Umm no?" he responded unsure.

"Okay!~" I smile looking back down at my notebook, which is now filled with random doodles. If Billy's gonna be around, then I think I'll be good.

"I'll go start the car." Ruth announced as she walked outside, Once we were done with lunch we decided it was time to go into town and finally explore. I grabbed my white hat from upstairs and my bag before heading outside.

Luckily, the drive from and to town was less than 30 minutes.
I suggested that we stop at yesterday's coffee shop and grab us some coffee before walking around town, which is what we are doing now.
As I walked into the shop, I was greeted by the same girl from yesterday.

"It's you! I hope you reached your destination with no trouble?" She said.

"Yes, all thanks to you..." my eyes glanced at her name tag and I smiled at her. "Abby!"

"That's my name, hahah." She laughed. "So what can I get for you today?"

"Oh I'm Edith by the way, and I'll get one iced latte and another hot." I ordered.

As there wasn't anyone coming into the store, I continued standing there at the counter, chatting with Abby as she prepared our coffee.
"If you don't mind me asking, yesterday you said you're a Beckett?.." she asked.

"Yeah, Liam Beckett's my father."
"Oh." Was her only response, and I couldn't help but wonder about it.

"May I ask why you sound almost taken back?" I asked.
She turned back to me eyes widen and placed my order in front of me.

"Oh no, I just...how should I say this, Um nobody's been there in years like I said yesterday, and well everyone around here knows that Liam Beckett packed up and left one day out of the blue," she shrugged. "So it's kind odd he's back after all these years..."

I couldn't help but smile, it was out of nervousness.
I stood there for a minute, not knowing what to say when the words just jumped out of my lips.
"Well, he's not back. My father passed away last year." I mumbled.

That seemed to surprise her as her expression changed right away.
"O-oh... I- I'm sorry for your loss .." she shuttered. "I just thought that.."

"It's fine, really.." I smiled a bit and changed the subject.

I joined Ruth who took a seat on the table with the street view, after asking Abby About things to do around here. She said that there wasn't a lot to do around here, but suggested visiting the different stores, which I was planning to do anyways.
"Here You go." I hand Ruth her coffee and sat across her. "I have no idea how can you drink a hot coffee in this heat!" I said, taking a sip of my iced latte.

"Would you suggest I have an iced drink? You know anything cold gives me a headache." she mumbled while scrolling on her iPad, which she carries around everywhere.

We spent some time inside the coffee shop before we started walking around town.
As we walked around arm in arm, I took in the stores around us and the people.
"Okay, I don't know if I'm used to the crowded streets, or is this street too quiet?" I chuckled.

"I very much prefer this over the crowded streets." Ruth blurted.
"Hmm, you just don't like people." I laughed as I pulled us into one of the stores.

After an hour of walking around and exploring the different stores, it was clear it was time to go back since we had an afternoon tea to attend. I thought about trying to convince Ruth to stay in town longer but I gotta admit we were both getting tired of carrying the bags, filled with random things we bought.

As we made it back, Ruth decided to stab me in the back.

"What do you mean you're not coming with me? I'm not going there alone!?" I gasped, eyes popping open. "No Ruth you can make me go there alone! This wasn't the deal—-"

Ruth rolled her eyes and sighed as she turned to face me. "There is no deal, someone needs to put all of this away." She pointed at the stuff we bought.
"And I need to prepare dinner later, you'll be just fine—-"

"No, I won't! I don't know these people! And I don't want to be there alone.." I argued.

"You've been always good with meeting new people, What changed now? Oh Edith," she threw her hands up and shook her head. "Do as you please. But if you'd listen to me, then I advise you to go over at least this once. Keep in mind we are staying here for a while and what would they think  if we run into them after you've rudely rejected their invitation?" She ranted.

That's a good question, but the thing is, who freaking cares about what they think?
"So? It's not like we are going to be living next to them for the next 10 years, personally, I don't give a fuck—"

"Language." she warned.

"CARE, what they think." I sneered.

"Again Dear, do as you wish." She announced as she started going through the bags. "Now go do whatever, I have to put these away."

I ended up walking away defeated. Yes, of course, I can do whatever I want but I know she'll only be mad at me after, which I would like to avoid.
So, I decided that Yes, I'm going over there and getting my apology.

Once I was done changing into a different Dress, a middle-length Floral V-neck with puffy sleeves, and a Corset Waist. It looked more formal and suited the occasion. I paired it with simple earrings and I thought for a second about styling my hair into a bun, but I liked how it looked down, and with a touch of my favorite perfume, I was now ready.
At least that's what I thought, but I realized something was missing.

I made my way back downstairs and rushed into the kitchen.
"Ruth!" I yelled as I walked in.

"What is it— oh you changed?" She turned to me and smiled. "So you decided to go?"

"Yes, yes but we have a problem! I can't go Empty handed.."

"Oh dear," she laughed and walked over to the fridge. "You think I'd send you over empty-handed?" She took out a lovely-looking plate filled with tarts. "Apple tarts."

I jumped up and down for a moment in excitement before giving her a quick hug.
"Of course you had something prepared, but when did you—"

"I made them this morning, here you go~" she handed me the plate and went on to fix my hair.

"Now if you are going, then better go now. You don't want to be late." She added.

"Fine, but if I don't make it back—-" I started joking and she ended up kicking me out of the kitchen.

I walked outside with the plate of tarts and started making my way to the neighbor's with only one thought in mind, I better see some cows.
