Chapter 5
Hiccup
Ever since I become a Night Fury and discovering I was a Dragon Prince, it has some harsh reality to me.
I begin to have different feelings that I never experience before. I guess it has to be the way of a dragon's point of view.
As I was in the Great Hall, I see Astrid and the other teens sitting in their usual table. It sort of making me uncomfortable, mostly because I knew that the Night Fury inside of me was trying to control me, wanting to kill them on sight.
I honestly don't know what to do.
"Hiccup, is something bothering you, dear?" I turned to see Chief Agnes. She knew me better than the rest of the teens.
"I'm just feeling uneasy about you know, being the Chief of Berk and all." I lied, mostly thinking about the future ahead.
"Hiccup, you don't have to be worried about being the heir. I think that you will be a great leader one day." She said, trying to make me feel better.
Me? Be a leader? The others laughed at me ever since I can remember. How would anyone follow me if the whole village thought I was a disgrace to them?
As I thought about what Chief Agnes said, I noticed a woman who was going to kill an innocent child.
"You will pay for what you did." She said, as she was pulling a pocket knife towards the child.
My dragon instincts kicked in as I hear the sound of the knife.
My talons came to life as I killed the woman uncontrollably.
As I saw what I had done, I panicked and run before anyone sees me.
Panting with sweat, I was scared.
Emily
I see Hiccup, in sweat and was terrified. He didn't even had a good night sleep, considering that I discovered that he was a Night Fury only by night.
"Hiccup?" I asked the young Viking. His eyes were scared like a lost Hatchling without his mother guiding his way.
"Emily, I did something terrible." I heard him whisper.
I used my wings to comfort him. I was totally afraid of his well being and I wanted to make sure that whatever had happened back at the village, we can handle it together.
"Tell me what happened, Hic. When I saw you, you looked like you seen a ghost." I asked him gently. I don't want him to be that overwhelmed.
"I... I was in the Great Hall, talking to Chief Agnes, who always treat me like as her own child, and I saw a woman was going to kill an innocent child and my Night Fury self burst out, using the talons... I -" He didn't need to say it, mostly because it terrify him, remembering.
"Hey, I get it. You lost control of yourself when it happened. I remember when I lost control of my actions when I was a Hatchling." I said, cheering my friend up.
"You did? What did you do?" He asks curiously.
I said, blushing, "I kind of fight with one of my brothers for a fish. I nearly killed my brother because of it."
"Gee, that's embarrassing." He said, laughing, then he realizes that he hasn't laughed in a while.
"Wow. I haven't that laugh for a long time." He sighs.
"Why didn't you? It seems like you changed since we met." I asked him.
"I guess that is because I had anger inside of me for long as I can remember." He replies.
"Oh." I said, understanding. It must've not be easy for him.
"Hiccup, just you know, I'll always be there for you." I told him.
He looks at the sky. "I wonder what is to be like to fly."
"Well, I think that can be arranged. Use your wings!"
His back transforms into two black wings sprout out in each side.
"Uh... Emily, are you sure this is a good idea? I mean what if someone sees a boy with black wings flying through the sky?" Hiccup asks me with worried expression.
"Now, Hiccup Haddock the Third, don't tell me that you're scared are you?" I asked, sarcastically.
Hiccup said, "What? Who, me? Nah, that's quite a silly question. But what about we check your wing first before we go?"
Hiccup
I can't believe that Emily suggest I should fly! I mean, when the Night Fury inside my body knows how, but me? I'm just a boy who couldn't handle of impressing a girl or carry an axe!
I said, "What, Who? Me? Nah, that's a silly question. But what about we check your wing first before we go?"
I unwrapped the cloth and it appears to be a scar now.
"Well, seeing it now, I think you'll be able to fly now. But just take it slowly." I said, seriously.
"Yea, I get it, Hiccup. You're just trying to protect me. Now for your lesson for flying. I have a place."
We walked towards the hillside which the breeze was relaxing.
I looked down and it gave me a scary feeling.
"Uh, are you sure this is a good idea, Emily?" I asked, totally unconvinced of this idea.
The Night Fury laughed in my mind.
"Hiccup, you don't be afraid. You'll be fine." He said.
I replied, "This is your idea of pay back, isn't?"
He didn't reply back.
I took a deep breath, as I let the wind took control of my wings.
"Whoa!" I said, trying to adjust the weight of the wings on my back.
"Hiccup, calm yourself! Just lean into the direction you want to go." Emily instructs me.
I nod at the Nadder's instructions and after a while, I got the hang of it.
"This... This is amazing!" I said, laughing.
But the tricky part was the landing.
I tripped over my feet as I landed and my Night Fury wings disappeared.
"Hiccup, you all right?" Emily said, running towards me.
I rubbed sheepishly, "I'm fine, Emily. Just the landing hurts."
"You'll get the hang of it soon enough, Hic. It was your first time." Emily suggested.
I looked up and I knew the moon was about to rise, and I heard a familiar voice.
"Hiccup? You in here?"
Oh, no. Astrid. She can't see me transform!
She approaches me.
"Hiccup, there you are!" She said, relief.
"Astrid! P-Please stay away from me!" I said, in a growling voice.
"Hiccup, what's wrong with you? I will get Gothi..." Astrid begins to say as my transformation started.
