Wodahs POV
It was surprisingly easy to fit in and rise to the ranks. Yosaflame and Ciel were correct about being confident in me, I was able even to fool the other two angel champions. Sherbet and Rigatona. Though out of cross-examination, neither knew anyone acting suspiciously just like Ciel had said before, she had highly doubted the other two champions would be the traitor. I grumbled as I grabbed my swords and attached them to my belt. "You sound like you wanna kill someone about now," the gruff and tired tone came from behind me as I turned around. Speak of the sly angel and he appears. Great.
Sherbet stood in the door frame with arms crossed and a weary smile playing on his lips. The champion angel before me came closer, the shadows no longer dulling the features. Sherbet's features include short messy light yellowish-green hair, raceless white skin, and blue eyes with bags underneath them. The dark gray scarf with a gray cross print due to always being cold, and the scarf itself seemingly capable of floating around him. A black belt, white gloves, light gray pants, and black dress shoes held his signature of the gray coat.
He kept with the color scheme of grey and white and couldn't say much about the other two champions, Rigatona and Ciel, though. "So whatcha sighing about this time, kid?" Sherbet asked his voice low and tired, "Nerves getting to ya' scared about this big announcement Lord Etihw gots?" I looked back at my reflection before turning back towards the other angel.
"You could conclude that," I started before taking a few steps towards the door, "Yeah, I believe it is to be my nerves getting to me." Sherbet moved away from the doorframe and let me exit the room I was given.
"So," Sherbet whistled as he interlocked his fingers behind his head, "a newbie like yourself has gotten quite the praise lately." I looked at Sherbet as he unlocked his fingers and crossed his arms, "I bet it's something to do with your accomplishments, newbie." He chuckled as he kept his pace to match mine. Sighing I looked at the angel that would always harass Yosaflame. Frankly, I find him annoying as well. But he is one of the few I can trust in this force. A book flew from ahead of us as I ducked to the side and let it hit Sherbet, square in the face. I have experienced This typical wake-up call within the past few months. Rigatona came storming down the hallway next.
"SHERBET!!!!!" Rigatona's voice yelled making my ears ring. Oh, Yosaflame you were far from aware of how much Sherbet was a pervert. Rigatona came closer no longer a blur as she kicked Sherbet to be on the ground on his back. Shock fell over his face at first before his signature sly smile spread across his lips. Yosaflame called it his 'pervert face' but even that did not do it justice. I looked up to Rigatona, her light brown hair tied into twin tails and red narrowed eyes. She wore somewhat of a military uniform held by a black belt, I had no idea how it fit into the White God's uniforms but no one else questioned it, with a big two-toned red and green bows on the back, a pair of white gloves, red diamond-pattern stockings, and high-heeled black boots.
"What did he do this time," I asked out of habit as another sigh escaped my lips, "surely it had to be bad enough for both the book and kicking him to the ground, Rigatona?" She growled out before she pressed her heeled boot into Sherbet's chest. "This pervert had set up a trap at the door for anyone walking out of the bathhouse to be soaked in clothing-eating liquid. Already have about 20 or so victims and here is the perp acting all innocent and hanging with the newbie, thinking he has gotten away from the consequence of his little stunt of a prank."
I guess Yosaflame was right about this angel. It's easily readable but annoying with the big siding of pervertedness and creepy helping. Frowning I looked back at Rigatona to see her brow crease and become more agitated. Oh boy, Sherbet I am not helping you even if you give me pleading eyes, looking at Sherbet out of curiosity to see what I expected from the perverted angel—nope, not helping him one bit. He put himself into this situation so now he can get himself out of it. "Shouldn't we be heading to the grand hall for Lady Etihw's announcement?" I turned my head to see Ciel coming from the other hallway. Her voice was soft and smooth as honey while she approached but I can tell she is also furious with Sherbet's actions.
You dug your own grave Sherbet, I frowned as I could only assume but Ciel's behavior is that she was one of said victims of his stunt. Sighing I only nodded my head feeling the ever-growing malice flowing from the two female angels. The three champions are what most call them. The top three of the high angels that were more than qualified were Lady Etihw, the White Gods, and Head Angel. But from the rumors that I had gathered, all three have denied the position saying that there was a better angel that fit the qualification more than them. I have to say they were more than honest about their standings. But then again I also heard there is more to the position of Head Angel than what is let on. Paperwork, attending all angels including the White God, and taking charge on the battlefield.
Most have tried for the position but none seem to want the other duties besides the taking of charge on the battlefield. They all seem pretty lazy to me, I can see why now Yosaflame keeps up his cold appearance as it takes a lot to even keep everyone in check. Humming as Rigatona walked away with a huff, Sherbet stood up and I merely walked next to Ciel as she walked ahead. "Any news from Yosaflame?" I whispered to Ciel as Sherbet ran ahead to catch up to Rigatona. Most likely to bother her more or come up with more excuses.
"He only comes and asks about how everything is going on," Ciel whispered back, "though he's more concerned about your well-being and agrees with what you send him. Though he has an idea of how to flush out the traitor faster now that he knows how things are run here in the White Castle due to your letters," Ciel seemed to quiet her voice even more as I looked at the large doors in front of us opening to reveal the large room with all the angels and the God of White at the front sitting on the throne on the raised floor, "this is one method that he mentioned though he had sent another letter through me to Lady Etihw."
My eyes widened, Yosaflame had sent a letter to Lady Etihw, themselves? When and how did this come into play? "All I can say is that try your hardest to draw the traitor out," Ciel whispered, "I don't want to fight this war any more than we have to, alright, Wodahs?" I looked back at her and nodded my head in understanding of what her words meant. Yosaflame and Lost were becoming wary of fighting. Lost was that way because of his love for Ciel and Yosaflame, well, it was so hard to tell but I could only assume his standing of an ideal morality. It seems that most of the Champions are like this now, but I also see it in Brother's eyes. He always seemed that he was growing wary but knowing him he was too stubborn to come to the middle grounds and discuss a truce or so.
Ciel motioned for me to follow her up to the front as she stood beside the raised platform pointed to the spot next to her and bowed her head. I looked in front of me to see Sherbet and Rigatona on the opposite side and bowing their heads as well. Doing the same I followed bowing my head as I heard the rustling of fabric signaled that the White God had stood from their throne as the clicking of heels came closer to the edge of the platform.
"Good morning everyone," Lady Etihw's voice announced across the room almost echoing, "I am sure you are all wondering why such an early morning gathering, after all, it is a rarity that I ever call forth everyone for a meeting," her tone held more warmth today, very uncharacteristic of her, did the letter she received change her tone today? "As it is painstakingly known the position of Head Angel has not been filled for a very long time, but good news I have a perfect angel in mind for the position. I know none of the champions wanted the position as they had all agreed with the one angel I do have in mind." Her voice was coming closer as the sound of clinking from her combat heels came closer, "Wodahs, child can you come here," my eyes shot open as I looked towards Lady Etihw.
Did she just call my name? I looked over to Ciel to see her gesture for me to move closer to the steps. My body was frozen in place as I put my focus on not reacting drastically. Slow and steady. I just need to approach with dignity and not show much emotion. After all, I have to play the part of a rookie who's been called up to the raised platform by the most powerful figure of the company of angels. Walking up onto the stage and standing next to Lady Etihw as they moved their arm to cross over in front of me as they began, "Wodahs here at the striking pace he pulled around here within the several months since recruitment has led us through several victories and reckons of many injuries and highly recommended by peers and the three champions alike has even I astounded with his quick thinking and strategies that I cannot simply ignore or let such talent go to waste. As of today, Everyone gives a warm welcome to my newly appointed Head Angel, Wodahs."
The loud cheering from the crowd startled me, so this is what Ciel was mentioning. So this is the next step in Yosaflame's plan then, the center of attention to draw out the traitor. Traitors will become jealous of the position that they so desperately wanted but didn't qualify for only for it to be taken by someone who was freshly recruited and promoted to such a high position. Sherbet was clapping as Rigatona nodded her head. "Now I must speak with the newly appointed Head Angel and the three champions, " Lady Etihw announced that everyone besides four could leave.
Everyone filed out of the hall before the doors closed leaving all of us alone. "Ciel," Lady Eithw's voice broke me out of focus as I looked over to Ciel as she walked up onto the stage along with the other two, "I am sure you also received a letter from our informant?"
"Yes, he said it was okay to advance to the next step which you did today," Ciel said as she stood at the edge of the stage.
"So about this informant that you two keep mentioning," Rigatona crossed her arms and huffed, "we sure can trust an informant on the other side to know the reason for Grora's disappearance and discovery along with recovery. Are you sure this is a smart move to get the newbie involved?"
"I am involved either way," I hummed as Ciel sighed as well and Lady Etihw sat down on their throne once more.
"Wodahs was sent by our informant to play the part to drag out the traitor," Lady Etihw sighed, "he's playing his part with full conscious that this game is very dangerous to play, by the way, Wodahs, sorry for the sudden call onto the stage, I had to get the most reaction like our informant recommended."
"That is alright," I spoke up as she directly asked me something, "If he wanted a show then I understand such actions after all he was my teacher and mentor for many years, from the moment I was young and able to walk I always learned from him." Sure I was practically giving it away I was never an angel to begin with how I am describing it. Lady Etihw nodded their head knowing fully well what I was insulating.
"So would this be traitoring from the other side or?" Sherbet began to ask before Rigatona hit him on the head, "Owie ~ I was merely asking 'cause it would appear the kiddo isn't an angel fully."
"That is true but the informant gave enough explanation in able for such things not to be considered as a traitorous act but more of an informant for each side," Lady Etihw sighed rubbing their forehead, "for now we observe in point out which one acts the most suspicious out of everyone else. If we find this traitor the quicker the faster we can settle differences and have peace come. I am growing weary of all this fighting."
"Understood," all of us said as they waved their hand dismissing us as they stood and walked to the other side of the room and opened a hidden door before they disappeared into another room. "Well, this is certainly entertaining. So newbie Head Angel how long do you think this traitor is going to remain silent?" Sherbet asked as he crossed his arms behind his head.
"With knowing what my teacher has informed me before I was given this task," I huffed as I looked over to the main doors, "I suspect that it won't be long now after all. If they happened to be vindictive with the position already being filled there's only a matter of patience until we start hearing mutters and rumors soon."
Sherbet chuckled as Ciel sighed and Rigatona crossed her arms. "So it's the waiting game then," Rigatona huffed as I nodded my head. She is more of the action type and not the sitting type. But I do understand why she is becoming impatient though. I do not like how slow this has been, gaining footing was the next step but something is certainly amiss. But I can't jump to conclusions or else everything that Yosaflame has set in motion falls apart. Keep focus and the traitor will come out of the blue and make their move.
Sighing as I walked down the corridor to my resting chambers when I heard the sudden clicking of heels behind me. Don't look behind just keep pace reach your quarters and act like you don't know that they are there. Catch them in the act, don't assume until you can prove it with evidence. Steady and act like you are heading to your room to rest. Catch them in the act of following. Coming upon my door into my chambers I stopped and faced the door, letting out a sigh before reaching for the door handle, the sounds of heels came closer, faster, now. I looked to my right to see the angel stop midrun and their eyes widened in shock.
"Is there something I could help with?" I asked, keeping my voice toned and leveled. They were still staring at me in shock. It's good that I caught them in the act, and they don't know how to proceed. Good, I got them where I want them, raising my eyebrow, "Is everything okay?"
"Everything is in good shape, sir?" the angel finally answered. They are fidgeting now, which is good. I nodded my head before speaking again: " Alright then. I am glad there is nothing amiss. If anything is amiss, I am sure to take care of it as the newly appointed Head Angel, solider -?" I set it up for them to give me their names. Come on, answer with your name.
"My name is Burian, Head Angel Wodahs," the angel answered. Got you now, I nodded my head as the angel Burian turned around and walked away, a speedy pace down the hallway before turning the corner and out of view. Good, I have the information that I've been waiting for now to report to both Lady Etihw and send a letter to Yosaflame. I got the traitor's name right from their own mouth.
