Once I set my eyes on the piece of black sprayed machine, my pace quickened. I trod quickly to my car, swiftly unlocking it and collapsing into the seat. All of a sudden, a throbbing pain formed in my head.
I rested my head against the hard steering wheel as anger rose in my chest. My breathing was unstable for a quick moment. I balled my sweaty palms into tight fists, my nails digging right into them.
The car started and I sped out of the large compound into the quiet streets. Huge houses, painted mostly in neutral colours, came in sight once again. Tall trees forming large shades, disallowed the sun from directly hitting the clean windscreen.
It was beautiful scenery and someway somehow, a wrath of calmness fell over me. I rubbed my temples with one hand, securely holding the steering wheel with the other. Out of nowhere, her raucous laughter rang severally in my head. A frown formed on my face as the sound continued.
I added my other hand on the steering wheel, tightening my grip. My knuckles turned slightly pale as my foot pushed the acceleration pedal. I felt my blood rush through every part of my body quickly. I locked my foot in place, pressing harder and harder, causing the machine to move at the topmost speed.
My heart pounded heavily in my chest. I moved my hands recklessly from side to side, causing the vehicle to do same. As my head ached, my hands also trembled vastly. Dizziness washed over me like a cold breeze as my grip loosened slowly but surely. I couldn't clearly envision anything before me. All I heard was a loud shriek and an enormous thump right before everything went black.
EVE'S POV
I staggered backwards as the whole room spun. The weather was averagely warm but I shivered slightly on the inside. Slight chills travelled down my spine from what i had just heard. My phone gradually fell from my sweaty palm, landing on the tiled floor. I couldn't fathom the information that seeped through my ears moments ago. It hit me like a planned punch, right in the chest. My breath hitched as I sobbed quietly.
"No, no, this can't be happening. No," My shaky fingers brushed through my hair roughly as I shook my head. I shook the thought of getting ready for class out of my head and instead, grabbed my car keys and the device from the ground and hastily walked out of the room.
As I pushed my way vigorously past the crowd in the hallway, deadly glares were shot at me while indistinct words came to my notice. I paid no mind to them but rather, sprinted as fast as I could to the petite vehicle, sitting in the compound.
"Leave the road, people," I hooted the horn at a small crowd obscuring my view. I quickly reversed the car and drove speedily through the large gates. "Silver Gardens Hospital, Silver Gardens Hospital..." These words could not stop pouring out of my mouth as I drove quickly to the said location.
"No way, no freaking way!" Why would the red light only show up when you're in a total hurry?
I tried to stop the tears, but they uncontrollably fell from my eyes. I wiped my face and sighed, as I checked for any missed notification but there was none. I frustratingly threw my phone unto the seat and slammed my head against the uncomfortable head rest.
I looked at the light once again and got absolutely fed up. I sat in frustration and anxiousness. "You'll be fine, Nathan. I know it. I do," I couldn't stop gazing at the tall pole where the bright light shone. Loud hooting sounds erupted as the cars started to move again. I followed in my lane, heading to the hospital.
