A warm Sunday morning is what she woke up to. The bright light pierced through the thin curtains, causing her to squint as she sat up on the bed. She rubbed her eyes gently before they slowly got used to the sunlight.
After yawning slightly and stretching her body, she threw the heavy blanket off her body and walked quite sluggishly to the bathroom. She fumbled with the silver metal, before finally opening the door.
Standing in front of the mirror, she held both her palms firmly underneath the tap, receiving the cold water running rapidly from it. The cool liquid met her face, fully awakening her. She thoroughly wiped her face and went back to the bed.
She sighed deeply and sat down on the messy bed, grabbing her phone on the table beside it. With a swift gesture, she unlocked the device and scrolled through the numerous notifications.
She tapped quickly on one from Emma and smiled as she saw the picture she had sent her. 'My mood for the details. Will come over today!' was the text beneath the image. Eve replied with a face palm emoticon after which she added one, depicting laughter.
She opened Nathan's which read, 'Good morning beautiful. Hope you slept well.' Her fingers typed a response quickly as a blush crawled up her cheeks. 'Good morning. I did. How about you?' She tapped 'send' and shut her phone, placing it back on the wooden structure.
Considering Eve to not being a morning person, someway somehow, she managed to get through this morning successfully. From making her messy bed to taking a long shower, she did it all.
She slammed herself unto the bed, turning on the small television set, after which she opened a packet of dark chocolate. A random program caught her attention before she heard a knock on her door.
The familiar knock made her jump from the bed, heading towards the door to open it. She wasn't surprised to see her best friend standing at her door. Emma made her way into the place like she owned it. Eve simply shook her head and shut the door.
"Which normal human being knocks twice instead of thrice?" Eve stood in front of Emma, whose body was buried into the bed she took time to make.
"I just woke up in a bad mood, Eve. Josh is out at work. Hopefully, you can cheer me up," She stared at Eve while she spoke.
"Are you going to be fine?" Eve asked her. She nodded briefly and sighed afterwards. "Em, are you sure? Talk to..."
"Eve... I'll be fine. Spill the tea, I'm listening," She sat back up on the bed and smiled. Eve joined her on the bouncy bed and cleared her throat.
"Well, yesterday was one of the best," She proceeded and unfolded to Emma, everything that happened last night with Nathan. "That kiss was different; a good type of different though," Emma stayed silent the entire time. A faint tear travelled across her face slowly. "Em, are you crying?"
She quickly wiped the liquid off her cheeks and smiled. "We've known each other for only God knows how long. I've always known you to be happy but those past three to four months, you weren't yourself; you weren't happy. I'm glad you are now Eve, honestly." Her words made Eve teary.
"Emma... Thank you," She wrapped Emma's body in her embrace and tightened her grip. Emma patted her hair slowly as Eve spoke.
Emma suddenly pulled apart. "Enough of the emotional stuff. You got some food? Your home girl is starving!" She dramatically exclaimed, causing both of us to laugh.
Eve picked the half eaten bar of chocolate and offered it to Emma, giggling. "I was eating this before but you can have it," Emma practically rolled her eyes to the back of her head before hitting Eve slightly.
Emma snatched the snack from Eve and took a bite. Both of them laughed and shared a half devoured bar of chocolate, like the best of friends they were.
