EVE'S POV
My eyes were extremely heavy with sleep. Right after I had spoken to Nathan, I lay in my bed, drifting quickly into a deep slumber. As soon as both eyes shut, blurry images started to form and they became more vivid while sound followed.
It was a short day so I was eager to go and see him and with him, spend the rest of the day. I inserted the key into the door and unlocked it. I called his name severally but got no response in return. I made my way to the room and found him standing near the window and his back faced the door.
I tiptoed and hugged him tightly from behind with much enthusiasm. He turned around and looked at me blankly. I threw my bag on the couch and went closer to hug him.
"Hey babe, I missed you," I let go of him and stared at him since he didn't utter a word. "Is everything okay?" I asked him, worried.
"I need to talk to you, Eve." He had a serious look on his face and that's how I knew he wasn't joking. He stuck his hands in his pockets as he spoke. "I can't continue this anymore."
My heart shattered at the words he said. My head spun causing me to stumble a bit and I sat on the couch. I felt the salty liquid stream down my face and nearing my lips.
"Why?" That was the only word that managed to escape my lips as my head was in my shaky and wet palms. I wiped my tears and stood, facing him.
"Something just doesn't feel right Eve. Everything was okay in the beginning but now that we're almost at six months, something is missing," His arms flew about in the air as he spoke.
"What is missing? Tell me!" He infuriated me with what he said. I hit him severally on his rock hard chest and the tears came back, without my permission. My legs gave up on me just like he did, moments ago. I knelt on the floor, still crying bitterly.
He knelt beside me and wiped my tears. "I'm sorry Eve but I can't," I turned away from him and stared at the neatly arranged tiles. I threw his hands off my shoulders and remained silent, wiping the bits of tears left underneath my eyes.
After a moment of silence, I stood and grabbed my bag. I took his apartment key and threw it, purposely to hit him. The bunch of keys fell onto the floor and its sound filled the silent room. I sniffed while zipping my bag.
"I never thought this day would come but here it is. I was happy with you but you obviously didn't feel the same with me. I'll leave now."
He didn't say anything but stood there and looked at me while I spoke. I slung my bag over my weak shoulder and headed for the door. After I opened it, I looked back at him and bid him goodbye.
I run out of the apartment to my small car. I sat in quickly and gripped the steering wheel. I allowed my throbbing head to hit it constantly. Words came out of my mouth as whisperings as my nails dug deeper and deeper into the round object.
"No, no, no, no, NO!" I screamed the last word at the top of my voice and it echoed loudly.
"NO!" I rose from my bed and sat up right on it. Sweat trickled down my face and spine as the vivid pictures became indistinct.
It was all a dream; a dream about that dreadful day. This hasn't happened in weeks; why now?
I stared into the darkness that had taken over the room. I sighed and wiped away the liquid that steadily travelled across my face. I lay back on the soft pillow and rubbed my eyes.
At this time, I couldn't sleep anymore. I pulled the huge blanket over my legs as I lay there staring at nothing but darkness.
