Chapter Part 118
Chapter 118
Luke rides home, beside himself, thinking that Alana is making it work with Thomas, that she even went back to his bed. The thoughts in his mind, hurt his heart deeply. He just knows, he gave her no choice. He thinks about the child, is it his? Is it Thomas's? Then feels Thomas is too sure, it's his it must be.
He goes home, feeling empty knowing he let the best thing in his life go, and now it was too late. When he gets in the door, Whitney is in the kitchen making supper, waiting for him.
"Your home early, I am so glad to see you." Whitney says.
"Yea, your home early too. I had a long day, I just want to go to sleep." Luke answers.
"Well, I have something to share that will make you feel better, and get you out of this slump you have been in the last few months." Whitney comments.
"Oh really, and what is that?" Luke replies.
Whitney hands him a little plastic zip-lock bag with a pregnancy test inside of it.
"What is this?" Luke snaps.
"We are having a baby, we are finally starting our family," Whitney announces giving him a big hug and kiss.
Luke just stands there knowing now, it was really the end. They were both stuck in marriages they didn't any longer want, then he feels maybe Alana is happy with Thomas now, so I should be as well.
"Are you happy baby?" Whitney asks.
"Yea, just taken by surprise. It happened so fast. I thought we were going to wait a bit longer." Luke states.
"I stopped the pill thinking it would take months but it didn't. We were blessed right away. I can't wait to tell our parents." Whitney replies.
"Yea I bet they will be happy," Luke responds, taking a seat at the kitchen counter.
"You don't seem that happy baby," Whitney says.
"I am just tired. I am going to have dinner and head to bed." Luke comments.
"Ok, dinner is almost done." Whitney answers.
Luke just sits through dinner, not even very hungry, he got what he wanted, his wife's attention, and now even a family. He should be on cloud nine, and yet he felt miserable inside. If he was all honest, he didn't want a child. This was all her doing.
Thomas on the other hand drives back to work hoping that his little conversation with Luke will put some sense into him. He sees that Luke doesn't message Alana's phone. Thomas deletes his message and even puts him on block, then feels maybe it better to not even give her the phone back, make her think she lost it, and get her a new one, forgetting Luke entirely. Thomas wasn't taking any chances, he knew if he talked to Alana, she would tell him it was his child, they would make up, and it would be all over. Thomas has no faith when it came to this, he saw how Alana fell apart in front of him, because of Luke, and he saw that Luke cared deeply for her, just was stuck in a tough spot.
If Thomas was honest with himself they all were. He knew when Luke said he was living a lie, it was the truth. He was doing his best to put his family back together when she loved someone else and was carrying his child. Where they ever really going to get over this? Even if Luke went away for good, would Alana ever love him? She would have his child with her always, a piece of him, a reminder.
Thomas gets up from his chair, and goes to his fathers house, needing his guidance. He knew his father has had enough of it, but he needed someone to talk to, and he was the only one he could trust.
"Thomas its mid-afternoon, what are you doing here?" Sr. asks.
"I had a really rough morning, and I need someone to talk to, I took some beer," Thomas answers throwing his father a can.
"What happened now? I thought you two were working it out? All lovey-dovey?" Sr. asks.
"It's not her, he messaged her, wanting to see her, wanting her back. I just happened to get the message before her." Thomas admits.
"Oh fuck, so now what?" Sr. says.
"I played her and met him at the pier." Thomas answers.
"How did that go?" Sr. replies.
"I told him to stay away from her, to leave her alone that we are together now and happy and even having a baby. He through me a few digs. ones that hit home, how I wasn't enough for her, how she loved him, and never could love me that way. He knew where to hit." Thomas admits.
"Thing was he hit you with the truth, its why it stung so badly. Do you think he will stay away?" Sr. responds.
"I don't know. He didn't like it when I said I would tell and show his wife, so I think I may have a prayer. He admitted to being in love with her. He wanted her back, and if she would have gotten that message first she would have gone." Thomas says.
"If he stays away, it's a good thing if not I don't know what to tell you. Not only will she go back, she also knows, that you know the whole thing." Sr. replies.
"I didn't know what to do, I panicked. I think I should be good though, plus I am throwing her phone away and I will get her a new one. " Thomas confesses.
"That isn't going to fix this or make her not want him. He could always message her again, call her. he knows her number. Are you going to live like this your entire life? Is this what you want?" Sr. asks.
"No, I know once he is out of the picture things will be normal again. Everything is great, and I am going to keep it that way." Thomas says.
"If you say so, son." Sr. answers.
