Chapter 106

Chapter 106

The dinner goes well, without any fights. Thomas keeping his real thoughts in the back of his mind, and Alana doing the same. They both had their own agenda.

"Dinner was nice, maybe now we can take a walk? Maybe even a carriage ride?" Thomas says.

"That would be nice, what has gotten into you? I never saw you want to be romantic before. You never have done any of this before." Alana admits.

"I told you, I am changed. You want romance, the fairytale book stuff? The cheezy movies we watch. I paid attention, I can do that stuff, just never thought I really had to before. I thought we were over that, we were married, we were already each other's." Thomas confesses.

"That doesn't mean romance stops Thomas, not like you were much for it even before we married. There has to be a fire, a spark that stays to keep the marriage going, or want to keep going." Alana says.

"I see this now, I am learning from my mistakes," Thomas answers helping to put Alana's coat on.

"You do know it will take a lot for us to get back to where we were when we first got married. It's not going to happen overnight. One date can't fix it." Alana states.

"I know it can't. I told you that earlier, that we have a lot to work on, this was just the start. I think a romantic dinner, without any fights, was a good start." Thomas answers.

"Yes, it was," Alana replies.

Thomas takes her by the hand, remembering the pictures with Luke, how he would hold her hand and keep her close. Thomas wanted to do the same. He did learn a few things, it was just by watching Luke, not old books and movies.

Alana goes along with it, now a bit intrigued to see what Thomas would actually do. She figured to just let go and see where the night went.

Thomas flags down a horse n buggy. Helping Alana inside it, as he sits on the other side under the blanket. If Thomas was honest with himself this wasn't for him. It smelled of shit and was the bumpiest ride ever. He just doesn't admit that to her, he keeps his mouth closed, holding her hand and trying to get her close to him.

The Horse goes around the block giving them a quick ride, Thomas sees that Alana enjoys it, and it brings a smile to her face.

"I see you liked that?" Thomas asks.

"Yes very much, that was something we never experienced together before," Alana says.

"True, have you ever with anyone else?" Thomas asks.

"No, I haven't. It's our first with each other." Alana replies.

"Good, I like that." Thomas smiles.

Thomas helps Alana out of the carriage, picking her up into his arms, her body close to his. This is the closest he has gotten to her in over a year. He does have passion for her, it is inside of him, he just needs to let it out and show her.

He places her down gently, going for her hand again.

"Are you up for the hotel? Or do you want to go home?" Thomas asks wondering what she will choose. He doesn't have his hopes up knowing she may say no since she is still getting over the breakup. Plus he knows she doesn't really trust him in this department, he just figured he would ask.

She just looks at him, not knowing what to answer. What does she do? The night was very nice so far but could she go the distance?

Thomas sees she is quiet to his question.

"We can go home if you want, I don't want to rush you," Thomas says.

"I think going home would be best. Maybe just drive around a little before we do so?" Alana asks.

"Sure, we can do that. At least you want to spend time with me, I will take it." Thomas answers.

Alana just smiles at him, not sure what to answer. She just knows she can't make this go on that much longer. Her belly would grow and she wouldn't be able to hide it or explain.

Thomas and Alana drive around listening to the radio and chatting a bit more. Thomas stays peaceful and tries not to show any disappointment in her wanting to go home. Or dwell that it's because of her boyfriend that she doesn't want to be with him in that way. He just can't help it going through his mind.

He does know that tonight so far they have come a long way. They were alone and didn't fight. It was a start, she was trying and so was he. It had to count for something.
