Toushirou
Sighing Toushirou pushes away from his desk, shoving the unfinished paperwork to the side knowing he wouldn't be able to concentrate enough to finish it. Ever since their first meeting three months ago he found himself running into her wherever he went. The mall, the store, and concerts like the first one he met her at, it didn't matter, he say her wherever he went.
At first he wrote it off as a coincidence. It wasn't until he ran into her-literally-at a convenience store a few blocks from his apartment he had chosen specifically so he wouldn't, that he began to suspect it was something more. He wouldn't call it fate exactly-he prided himself for being above such superstitious beliefs-but it was definitely more than coincidence or mere chance.
Shaking his mead to clear such thoughts from his mind and grabbing his coat from its resting place on the back of his chair he tells his secretary Hinamori he'll be out of the office for a while, decides a walk might be enough to help clear his head.
His feet instinctively lead him to the one place on Earth he could be alone and think. To say he was surprised to see a figure already there leaning on the railing overlooking an old soccer field in his spot was an understatement. But even that couldn't compare to the shock and surprise he felt at who it was. It only lasts a moment though before he expertly masks his surprised expression behind one of cool detachment just the way he'd been taught.
Choosing to ignore the intruder he takes a place a few feet down from his normal spot staring out at the field. They stay like that for a while, each lost in their own thoughts with only the occasional bird overhead to break the silence. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence though, it surprised both of them at how companionable their silence was, neither feeling the normal need to fill it with unnecessary conversation like most people would. Maybe that's why it surprised them both when she finally broke it.
"How do you know about this place?" Karin asks turning to look at him, "Not many people in town do, let alone someone who just moved here."
Toushirou was quiet a moment glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. Her voice wasn't accusatory, just curious, something he hadn't heard from her before. Whenever they did happen to talk it was usually her yelling at him for some reason or another.
"I could ask you the same thing." he finally replied.
"That field down there is where I used to play soccer with my friends, plus I've lived here my entire life. I've thought about leaving before of course, I mean who doesn't? But I couldn't bring myself to leave my family." she says leaning on the rail, her black hair blowing in the breeze.
"Not that it's any of your business but I found this place upon exploration of the town when I moved here a year ago to take over my father's business. It was the only place in town that wasn't crowded with people and I could be alone and think." he answers, his pointed look clearly implying he wished he was.
Ignoring the look sent her way Karin casts her eyes across the field as the sun makes its way over the horizon, the reds and oranges giving way to the purples and blues of twilight. They stay quiet a moment as they watch the sun set, officially ending the day.
Pushing off the railing Karin turns back to him. "Well I better get home or my sister Yuzu will have a fit. I guess I'll see ya around Toushirou." She says before jogging off, waving at him over her shoulder.
As he heads back to his apartment Toushirou realizes a few things. Not only did his walk last longer than he planned but that he kept learning new things about Karin everytime he saw her. So far he'd learned that although she was a hotheaded brash girl with an attitude problem whose moods could go from hot to cool faster than he could keep track of, she had a soft spot for her family and soccer. He could see it in the way she'd talked about her sister and the rest of her family. While she could probably move away if she'd really wanted to she didn't. All because she could leave her family behind. She'd also had a similar look in her eyes when talking about soccer. It made him wonder why she'd stopped playing a sport she obviously loved.
What am I doing? Why am I even thinking about her? It's not like I like her. Mentally shaking himself Toushiou closes the door behind him, chastising himself for even thinking about her that way.
