After Jax, Carmen, Gary, and Melody finished dealing with the team Aqua and team Magma grunts by the Rusturf cave they made their way back to Rustboro city to return the goods that were stolen. The scientist was stunned that they got them back so quickly and easily. The scientist asked them to follow him so his boss can thank them properly. As they made their way into the building across from the gym. Jax looked around the floor to see a bunch of fossils.

Jax was astounded that the place had collected so many fossils. As they all made their way to the top they all saw a large desk with a very well dressed man. The scientist told the four trainers to wait while he went and talked to his boss. The scientist waved all of them over to the large desk. As they walked over the man introduced himself to as Mr. Stone. He thanked all of them for their help with his clumsy but hard working employee. He gave them each a small cell phone like device. He told them that it was called a pokenav and that it works similar to the pokegear in johto.

He told them that systems are compatible. He gave Gary a dark grey one. He gave Carmen a black and red one. Melody received a light purple and sky blue one. Jax received an odd one as he could see it was transparent. He said that they could transfer all the contacts and other functions from the pokegear to the pokenav with ease. Jax and the others quickly transferred everything over.

Jax decided to put his pokegear in his bag just in case he would need it again. Mr. Stone asked the group to deliver some stuff for him. Carmen replied by saying that she wasn't a delivery girl for some big company. Melody and Gary looked at her with angry expressions while Jax couldn't help but laugh at what he just heard. He walked up and took the parts while Melody grabbed the letter.

As soon as Carmen saw the letter she snatched it away from Melody and put it in her pocket. As they left the building melody began to fidget with her pokenav for some odd reason. Jax saw this and asked what she was doing. Melody said that Her pokenav had some sort of odd function on it. Jax took a look and noticed it was shaped weirdly then the rest of the groups pokenav's Jax decided that it would be a good idea for them to trade pokenav's for a bit. As soon as Jax tried to grab it it shocked him. They all looked in aww as Jax was pushed back. 

They decided to leave the pokenav with Melody. They made their way through petalburg woods. Jax felt faint traces of a powerful aura in the forest and began to smile knowing that it was still nearby. Jax continued on and walked even faster trying to hurry through the forest. The rest of the group kept up through the entire way until they reach Mr. Briney's seaside cabin.

Mr. Briney came out and asked if they were ready to go. Jax excitedly said yes as they got onto the boat. Jax could feel the strong aura following them but at a distance below them. Jax knew who it was. They drew closer to dewford the aura started to go in and out as if it was fighting something in the water.

Jax knew something was up and noticed that Asura, Carmen, and Dean could feel it too. The power of the battle began to shake the surface of the water. Soon they reached the shores of dewford town. Jax asked Carmen to bring out Dean and to follow him. Melody and Gary looked at each other confused on why he only asked Carmen and Dean to go with him. Jax looked at the two and tol'd them that he would explain later and walked off with Carmen and Dean following close behind.

Asura soon came out of her pokeball ready to meet up with her old ally and rival. Jax kept his smile as they walked to the beach shore north of dewford town. As they reached the shore Jax told Carmen to have Dean ready to battle. Carmen looked at them very confused. Jax told her that they are meeting an old friend and she likes to battle quite a lot.

Carmen and Dean got into a fighting stance. As they waited a figure began to rise from the water. As it came closer the figure had a long tail and it seemed to be some type of Pokemon. Before anything could happen a shadow ball was fired at Jax but was knocked away by Jax and Asura together. Jax told dean to fire an aura sphere when he said now. As Asura charged her aura sphere up dean did the same.

As another shadow ball was fired Jax yelled for the two lucario fired off their aura spheres and hit the Pokemon. The Pokemon tossed something to Jax. It was a pokeball. Carmen looked at the ball and noticed it was a dusk ball. She quickly asked what was going on. Jax explained that the Pokemon that attacked just now was his. He also explained that it was a gift to him from a powerful ally.

Jax returned the Pokemon to it's ball to rest. Jax began to explain that the Pokemon who attacked was once part of the group that gave him his powers. Carmen gasped at the fact that a Pokemon from that group became part of his team.

Jax offered to introduce her to it. She agreed and Jax threw the dusk ball to reveal a mewtwo who had its eyes closed as it would rather rely on its psychic abilities than it's eyes. Carmen's eyes grew wide at the sight of a legendary Pokemon. she noticed it was wearing a bracelet with a round indent.

Jax decided after introducing her to it he would head back to dewford for their gym battle.
