"Masato jun'ichi is the main antagonist of volume 2 [Toaru Kagaku no Code Vader] A Certain Scientific Code Vader. He was a former teacher of Tedashii Hamasaki and turned scientist. However he is revealed to be the one to have recurrent and pays TARDY to target espers before and during the Daihaseisai Festival as Li Mei Xiaodan as his main victim.

• Masato was originally supposed to appear in volume one of Code Vader hinting a foreshadowing prior to the events of volume 2, but Z removed his original appearance due to aiming to focus the arc on Akahana's origin while pushing for the first arc to be dark while volume two shows the bright side of the series with the daihaseisai seeming fitting.

Personality
Masato Jun'ichi was a calm gentle man, he's laidback and gets alone well with his students. In irony he fits in with his students more than the adults themselves. He has a tendency to embarrass himself when he tries to impress the ones around him. This includes woman, in a way he tries too hard and is the reason behind Hisoka passing on the title Simp Guru.

His bond with his students are both respectable and comedically disrespected, but in all this is only because his students are very comfortable around his presence.

When he's students don't pay attention in class he says something out of character, or an awkward question to pull his students attention.

However during the daihaseisai festival, he is shown regret of his actions even while pursuing in them as he believes it will make up after his plans succeed. He is shown as a hypocrite wishing students well but target some and harm them to pursue in his plans. Even annoying Kaneshiro as Kaneshario believes Masato habits of volume 2 is that of Munchausen Syndrome acting caring with guilt by his acts as he only wants to get his way in the end but doesn't want to get hated for it.

Relationships

Tedashii Hamasaki
Tedashii finds Masato annoying, however this could only mean that Masato is one of few characters that gotten passed the walls Tedashii put over his heart. He quickly noticed Tedashii's change in nature upon meeting again. After Tedashii found out Masato was merchant behind the schemes of Li Mei's kidnapped, Tedashii felt betrayed and began to hate Masato even tries to kill him alone with Tardy but was fortunately defeated and saved by Tardy stoping Tedashii's attacks in the end.

Li Mei Xiaodan
Masato is one of the few that influenced Li Mei's growth on her dream to become a level "5" like the rank three level "5" Mikoto Misaka. He help Li Mei as a therapist guiding to further control her over hyped emotions. Their friendship along with other hardworking achievements help her reach level "3". While using Li Mei as a pawn for his scheme he shed a strong ill of guilt wishing it was anyone else than her.

Hisoka Minori
Hisoka is one of the few students to give him hell, Masato is one of the few people that can tolerate Hisoka's shenanigans. One of his rough times with the student is when he embarrassed himself trying to impress the teacher of class b due to this event, Hisoka title him the nickname "Simp Guru"

Chronology

Background
Sometime before the start of the series Masato was the former Homeroom teacher teaching Tedashii Hamasaki's class. Considering how each of his students talks to him as if he's their age, shows how close and how much he bonded with his students. Masato eventually had a sudden earlier retirement, to progress as a scientist. He never told anyone why the sudden change.

Daihaseisai Royale Arc
Masato first appears approaching a desperate gambling Tedashii, and noted that he's surprised to see Tedashii gambling behind the Visitor Numbers stall. Within a short conversation he quickly tease Tedashii for not paying attention, and noticed that his nature seem different. Masato eventually ask Tedashii to no longer call him his sensei nor Professor as he is no longer his teacher. The two part ways as he plans to watch Tedashii's performances and show off his project in the halftime show. Kaneshiro suddenly appears before the group and offers a deal that Masato refuses. Masato is then heard over the phone when Kaneshiro (as Masato agent in disguise warns him of Tardy's next action in fighting Aura Storm. Kaneshiro feared the results and ask Masato to call it off as Masato refused. Kaneshiro enters the battle and defeats Aura Storm for Tardy.

Masato is later seen and revealed as the merchant all along as Tedashii and  Jeong-Min hid. Tedashii felt betrayed and lose control to his emotions and Accelerator's thought patterns. Tedashii attacks Masato and decides to kill him alongside Tardy. However Masato is fortunately Tedashiii is defeated by Tardy.
