Kihara Akuma is a character in the [Toaru Kagaku no Code Vader] A Certain Scientific Code Vader side stories. He is the primary antagonist of the Tree Diagram Arc. He was a past survival researcher of The Dark May Project, and serve as an arch nemesis to Tedashii Hamasaki. As an member of the Kihara Family, he displays a vicious nature just as the other members, Akuma could be considered one of the most evil out of the Kihara's in the series which earned his name as Scientific Devil.

Etymology

The akuma (悪魔) is a malevolent fire spirit in Japanese folklore. ... It is often translated to devil in English, or demon. Akuma is the name assigned to Satan in Japanese Christianity, and the Mara in Japanese Buddhism. This in a way compared to his nickname Scientific Devil, and Demonic son of a Bitch. Kihara Akuma first official appearance can also be a comparison as the dialogue is quoted "A malicious man appear from the shadows of death from hell appear before Tedashii Hamasaki, a flash from the past, a man of science. A certain scientific dark experiment, a certain scientific Kihara." This quote and scenario could be vision as a nightmare demon from the past, comes to hunt it's prey.

Kihara Akuma is a tall man who is in his late thirties, chestnut kept slicked back style with a stubby beard, who casually smile maliciously. He also has a golden chain necklace tangled around his neck. Kihara wears a business inner vest with a tie and luxury white business shirt. black slim pants with ebony berlin brogues shoes. With a Lab coat on.

In Aru shinwa no ōrasutōmu, he wears a luxury red business shirt with a black tie, black slim pants with ebony berlin brogues shoes and a black lab coat instead of white.

• Kihara Akuma design concept to Zzz-Awakening is that of a criminal gang lord leader with a lab coat on.
• His facial design ironically is basic off a mage from Fairy Tail's Gildarts.
• In chapter 4, Kihara quotes to Tedashii "give up on these shenanigans I'll get you what you truly want. And for the love of fucks stake don't stab me in the neck with a scalpel." This could be hinted that Tedashii presumably killed Akuma by stabbing him in the neck with a scalpel.
• Viewers tend to get Kihara Akuma confused with Kihara Amata. This could be due to both characters similarity personalities and naming. Akuma even dies a similar to Amata in chapter 6. This could hint Akuma's creation was somewhat inspired by Amata's. But Zzz-Awakening also confirms to each viewer that Kihara Akuma is a OC antagonist and not official. Z even joking express how his auto correct even changes Akuma to Amata typing some scripts on the mobile version of Wattpad.
• Z enjoyed writing Kihara Akuma's introduction, his ruthless and swearing Dialogue allowed Z to write the character's dialogue anyway fit. This could be considered Zzz-Awakening's favorite character due to his funny ruthless inhuman nature after mocking Tedashii for spending time with Akahana which he calls a sex bot while criticizing himself for not teaching Tedashii about sexual intercourse.
• Within a fight Between him and Tedashii he comments and states he was planning to let Tedashii pregnant his daughter to let him get into the Kihara name, this confirms he has a daughter.

Abilities

Just like Tedashii he is capable of similar techniques of hacking.

He is also shown capabilities in fire-arms. In close hand to hand combat Tedashii noted he isn't the best fighter, but Akuma display at least some skill landing a successful solid uppercut against Tedashii (but his close combat attacks on chapter 3 could have only succeeded due to the surprise attack from the Nano reality digital code-breaker program.)

As a last survival researcher of the Dark May Project he is capable of helping Espers improve their abilities with Accelerator's thought patterns.

An active program device created by Tedashii Hamasaki. With hateful attentions to destroy Espers this Hologram was planned to be use against powerful Espers mainly pacifically (Kakine Teitoku and his Dark Matter)

This program acts as holographic that is constructed into actual material itself. Basic off the variable options that Kakine Teitoku has with dark matter Tedashii created a cybernetic digitized matter that forms and summons any type of weapon that's already registered established, from metal gloves to firearms. It is even capable of creating light screen coding barriers.

However some time ago Tedashii must have given up on the program as Dark Matter is matter that does not exist and because of that, Kakine could just change the rules to his Dark Matter and crush his program.

Somehow this program ended up in Kihara Akuma's hands and now being use against him in a irony fateful twist.

In Chapter six of Code Vader Tedashii hack and highjack the program in their battle irony defeating Akuma with it.

Personally
Just as most of the Kihara family line, Akuma is ruthless and puts science over anything else. However he could be considered the one of the worst Kihara family line due to his destructive behavior for science. He doesn't even care for his own well being as long as the experiment can continue to improve then his death is meaningless to him. This is shown when he angrily expressed his feelings to the Bankruptcy of the Dark May Project due to Kuroyoru Umidori and Tedashii Hamasaki actions. Even going out his way seeking vengeance upon children but still plans and consider keeping (Tedashii alive to use him to revive the Dark May Project experiments after recovering and fixing the Tree Diagram. Akuma shows no limitations nor boundaries going so far to calling his subjects including Tedashii lab rats and guinea pigs, calling a now twelve year old Kuroyoru Umidori a whore and cunt for ruining the Dark May Project. And calls Akahana a sex bot for being a cyborg and for Tedashii actions for buying her clothes and food to further angering Tedashii. He doesn't care for formal language swearing with a lack of care in the world. He however somewhat show some kind of respect for hardworking scientific evolution to those who push for science just like him even attempting sacrifices, such as Tedashii desperate desire to become an Esper volunteering to take part of the Dark May Project. This is also idea to his hate for easily established experiments, this shows with his jealousy towards Kihara Amata who help Accelerator improve his abilities. As he sees Science as experimental journey for answers with rugged bridges. Which expects failures along the way.

Relationships

Tedashii Hamasaki
In crazy twist Akuma hate and loves Tedashii. He is obsessed with him claiming that Tedashii knows him better than anyone in Academy City while he believes he knows him more than anyone else in Academy City. He somewhat shows proof of this kind of bond by easily locating Tedashii, and even quickly realized he was Code Vader after he tried to hack the tree diagram along with having Akahana moments later, calming Tedashii is the type of person to aim big and after failure, moves forward with a new plan already in motion. This could be for that reason why he loves when Tedashii out smarts him. He even goes far to keeping Tedashii's secret as Code Vader from Musujime Awaki. He also considered him a possible candidate for the Kihara name, wanting to pass on his name to him in some kind of way. Treating him in some cruel twisted way like a son making fun of him for spending time with Akahana after ease dropping on them while criticizing himself for not teaching him sexual intercourse.
He still however sees Tedashii as disposable Calling him a entertaining star lab rat that will eventually burst and die off. After the Dark May Project attack he felt betrayed by Tedashii and sworn some form of vengeance towards him (But still be kept alive, if possible. and if does dies it wouldn't effect him in any other way.) This also contradicts the times he does tries to kill him.

Kuroyoru Umidori
Kuroyoru Umidori was considered a delinquent whose rebellious attitude pushed the program to bankruptcy. This spark hate within Akuma. Akuma always hated her before and since then for making the project a living hell. And even calls her out her name as a whore who needs attention like a baby, and a cunt. After she and Tedashii killed most of the researchers Akuma sworn absolutely vengeance promising to kill her once he sees her again.

Kihara Amata
Being the mentor of Accelerator and the one who gave Accelerator his abilities, Akuma despise Amata's fame and believes any one could have developed Accelerator. He considered Accelerator a build in success due to the incident of Accelerator being attacked by a army at a young age without being harmed. This spark jealousy that eventually grew into hate.

Chronology

Background

It is known that Kihara Akuma was a researcher of the Dark May Project and work to help Espers improve their abilities with Accelerator thought patterns. Despite how ruthless he is towards Tedashii his efforts of trying to get him to cooperate could hint that he had a positive relationship with him until the horrors of the experiments finally took place. He was eventually attacked and was a survival victim from Tedashii Hamasaki and Kuroyoru Umidori's assault. After surviving he hid in secret playing dead and depositing his clam life insurance after being in debt due to the Dark May Project and aim and scorn for vengeance.

Tree diagram Remnant Arc
Akuma first appears in this arc watching Tedashii and Akahana leaving being puzzled to why Tedashii is just casually watching with data mine he calls and tells the science Associate that he's ready. Once more continues to watch him as Tedashii take her to the walk, eager to hurt Tedashii he calls Musujime for assistance to allow him to target Tedashii with out any interruptions.

When Tedashii prepares to head out after buying a Akahana more clothing Akuma hack into the technology apply in the malls safety protocol lockdown and Musujime teleported everyone but Tedashii and Akahana.

"A malicious man appear from the shadows of death from hell appear before Tedashii Hamasaki, a flash from the past, a man of science. A certain scientific dark experiment, a certain scientific Kihara."

Musujime teleports the scientific devil into the mall in front of Tedashii and Akahana where Tedashii screams out in fear of the devil's return. Akuma laughs and saids "you thought you did" He brings up his hate anger to the one he trusted the most the one to ruining the dark may project as well as promising Tedashii he will kill Kuroyoru Umidori for being the mvp of the failure of the project. He calls his survival karma to Tedashii as he states for the wrongs he committed and laughs.

Tedashii angrily burst out biting his own lip while staring at Akuma with a murderous glare. Akuma tells Tedashii that this hatred for each other isn't well for their relationship and still wants him to be part of the Kihara name and claims by defeating Tedashii they can rekindle what they once had. Akuma charge at the two with an uppercut. Akahana prepares to counter but Tedashii interrupts her and tells her to run. He tells her he can handle his own because Akuma isn't that well of a skill fighter. Preparing to counter Akuma actives the Nano reality digital code-breaker program and a metal glove forms in his fist successfully uppercutting Tedashii. Tedashii flings into the air trying to rebalance only to just get overwhelmed by Akuma's attacks. Tedashii was easily defeated and Akahana tries to sneak attack Akuma only to get counter. Tedashii begs Akuma to spare her as she didn't sign up for the dark side of Academy City.

Akuma in disbelief laughs and mocks Tedashii's unusual behavior of caring for Akahana's status. He assumed that Tedashii took her out on a date after observing him all this time and mocks him for trying to have sex with a droid. He then immediately blames himself as a father figure for never teaching him sex or how to attract people of the opposite sex.

He then proceeds to explain Akahana's value in esper power in Academy City. About the functions and capabilities of data mine where he accidentally slip out planing to steal data mine.

Tedashii begins to chuckle and laughs like accelerator. Akuma backs up knowing that with that laugh, he breaks out like that 100% when he already have a plan in motion with a impatient vibe.
Tedashii tells him why should he join the man who ruined his life and active a protocol for this very own situation. Tedashii's plan was flawed in the end once Musujime appears using Move-Point to take Akahana, and Akuma walks up looking down on Tedashii while protecting Code Vader's identity. Musujime continues to mock him and in rage Tedashii attacks Musujime only to teleport him down some stairs. The two take Data Mine in progress to the plan.

Sometime while Tedashii was recovering he locates the Data Mine exterior.

In escape Mikoto Misaka located and attacked Musujime, Cash, and Akuma not wanting to risk the electricomaster's level 5 Railgun he abandons the two to go out in hiding with his assistant.

Code Vader fines and battle his way to Akuma where Akuma sarcfice his assistant, after successfully reaching Akuma, he said that he's looking more confident and knows that he discovered a resolution for this matter. Assuming that he came to continue his war against Academy City by sacrificing Date Mine or he came to surrender and join him only to betray him once more in the end. Tedashii ask to see Akahana and Akuma present that Akahana is the key to expose the media Academy City's dark side since she has the data of the tree diagram. However to his surprise Tedashii was genuine came to save Akahama Yoko when he hack into the exterior permanently shutting down the system.

Akahana briefly woken up to a tearful eye Tedashii as he told her to stopping treating herself as a complete droid and that if something happens he himself would be hurt and to have value for yourself. Akahana passed beginning the clash between Kihara Akuma and Code Vader.

Tedashii stated to Akuma that he changed and doesn't no longer carry hate for Academy City, and that Akahana is way more human than he are Akuma ever will be.

Losing his chance to same person who ruin the dark may project with of right now for a robot Akuma immediately loses all sentiment value for Tedashii and tries to kill him. Despite being able to easily conjure up a submachine gun he refuse to kill Tedashii said simply and decides to make him suffer the whole way through his death.

Tedashii swings his fist missing while trying to reach for the nano gear but fails. Akuma follows up landings blow after blow effortlessly dodging Tedashii's engaged attempts. Complaining about the dark may project's failure and now Akuma losses fate in him and Saids he was a sone to him but now a dead man. He conjure up a grenade and throws it at Tedashii's face Exploding in front of his face.

The lost of the nano gear & death

Akuma laughs at the debris that hide the fate of Tedashii that was until he realized he was still alive holding a clear cube in the air as glowing light begins to flicker on his body. Tedashii explains to not worry this is in fact the digital nano code breaker at hand and not the powers of an esper ability, Tedashii was successful take the nano gear program, Akuma puzzled crying out how would he be able to when he ensure that he never let Tedashii touch or hack him.

However Tedashii confirms he did with Akahana's data Mine ability where how he was able to fine him. Unlike just using his phone to highjack it Data Mine itself was also capable of sharing one's thoughts into the system allowing him to pass on every continuing formula to hack the gear.

Despite how amazing that is Akuma denies that he can do so quickly especially when he was kicking his ass until realizing from over time the dark may project actually took in effect strengthen the speed of his already IQ thoughts.  The two together hypothesis the idea of how, where Akuma ask him why things turn out like this between the two of them and he misses hypothesis theories with him. Tedashii mocks him stating he would never rejoin him because he knows he's surviving by small tread, better off dead as his own family disowned him over his failure. (Revealing he knows about the affilation against academy city that he wanted Tedashii to hack data Mine and ruin Academy city and take her for himself because there's no where better than that) Akuma rages charging at Tedashii screaming out not to mock him when you're a guinea pig rat.

"And the name Code Vader that the dark side given me will be the name that fights with the light! It's over Akuma! Go back to hell where you belong demon!!"

Tedashii throws his damage cloak at a charging Akuma's face. Akuma got the cloak off as he got a view of the nano gear suit that Tedashii created. Tedashii show no mercy striking Akuma with a razor sharp whirlwind of tornados. Akuma screams In horror as his body was rip to shreds and thrown out a full storage building.

Legacy
With the help Akahana and Akuma's challenge, Tedashii was able to reinvent himself into better person that overcomes his hate for Academy. He destroyed any uses for data Mine so that no one will target her again, leaving Akahana force to learn everything on her own without the tree diagram Check up.
Though Akuma is now officially dead the scares he left behind Tedashii still lingers him. Where he imagined Akuma coming back for him like the scientific devil he is.

Aleister Crowley finds interest in Code Vader officially adding him as an imaginary sprit something that hasn't been identified in the series yet, debating what to do with him.

Before Tedashii killed him while mocking him he ask what he did with his life insurance, however he wasn't really asking a question rather just a mockery he killed him with an answer, it is currently unknown what Akuma's trump card really is.
