Part 1

So, this is a story that musicalsaregood and I wrote for our friend irl's birthday. It's kinda a sequel to another story that musicalsaregood wrote, though you don't really need to read that first. If you want to read it though, just go to the link below:

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12807399/4/Ninjago-Headcanon-Oneshots

Basically, this me and musicalsaregood trying to fit in as many references to as many different things as possible while keeping up with a very silly plot and trying not to die of laughter while writing this. If you do not laugh at some portion of this story then we didn't do our job right. XD

Alright, enough outta me. Let's begin this crazy mess. XD

~~~~~~~
It's a cautionary tale of fear and lust and pride based
on actual events where people died (no one died)
~~~~~

Kai was excited. Well, maybe a little more than excited. Whatever he was, he was so excited.

The red ninja didn't get excited like this too often, so it was a big deal. In fact, it was a really, really big deal.

See, he was excited because tomorrow, August fifth, was his birthday.

Now, Kai getting excited about his birthday was no surprise, but this birthday was even more excitable to him than usual because it was his eighteenth birthday, and he was going to be an adult.

So, naturally, Kai was very excited.

And he was talking it up.

A lot.

It was no surprise that Kai was slightly self-centered, so really, the ninja had expected Kai to make a huge deal out of his eighteenth birthday- he was the second of the team to turn eighteen, after all (second after Zane, who didn't make a huge deal out of his birthday whatsoever). What made them a little nervous, though, was making sure his birthday was spectacular.

They knew Kai would love whatever they did no matter what, but Kai was excited. Kai was giddy. He was so very ecstatic, and Kai was almost never any of those things.

So, this really was a big deal.

Thank the First Spinjitzu Master Kai had an overactive imagination (which they learned for certain after the spy incident).

----

The night before his birthday, Jay, who was grinning widely, had eagerly shoved a movie in Kai's face. Kai raised an eyebrow and said slightly deadpanned, "The Lego Batman Movie?"

Jay nodded. "We should all watch it together! It's really good!"

"I seriously doubt that," Kai replied, rolling his eyes and pushing the movie out of his way. "I mean it's a lego movie--how good can a lego movie be?"

"Well, I mean we're legos so--"

Sensei Wu abruptly appeared out of nowhere and smacked Jay on the head with his staff. "Mind the walls!" he scolded before he sensei-vanished into thin air.

"Whatever," Kai grumbled. "It better not be a waste of my time since it's the first movie you have let me watch in like four months! How good can this movie be?"

Turns out, really good.

Like really good. And really funny.

Kai and his brothers (and his legit sister) spent the evening watching the movie. Zane made his famous popcorn, Lloyd let everyone cuddle up together underneath his biggest blanket (like, it's really big. This boy loves blankets), and Kai made sure Jay and Nya weren't doing anything that even resembled making out.

"That was AWESOME!" Kai said once the movie had finished. "I'll never say this again, but you were right Jay, it was really good!"

"Ha! Told you!" Jay smirked. "Wait--HEY!" He used the hand on his arm draped over Nya's shoulders to slap the back of the fire ninja's head. "I am right more than a few times! For example, my next statement is right: Batman's nickname is 'The Dark Knight' and yet he's not even a knight!"

"That's because he's an awesome fighter!" Kai retorted.

"But he doesn't use any medieval weapons like an actual knight does!" Jay argued. "Where are the swords, the giant axes, the maces, the cool-looking shields?!"

Cole rolled his eyes as he scooched around Zane until he was out of the blanket pile. He stretched his arms and glanced at the small glint of interest in Kai's eyes. "Yeah, as good as it was, I don't want to be victimized again for something stupid so I'm just going to clarify right now, Kai: I'm not The Joker... and neither is my cooking so please, I beg of you, do not turn our lives into some kind of fake superhero fantasy, okay?"

Now Kai was the one to roll his eyes. "That was one time, Brookestone. I'm not as deluded as you think I am." He crossed his arms and glared daggers at the blue ninja as he saw Jay attempt to slyly grab Nya's hand underneath the blanket.

"Yeah, I have reason to believe my dad would think otherwise."

"Spies have to go undercover, Cole! It's not my fault he couldn't handle my awesome undercover skills!"

"Yeeeah, I'm not getting into this argument with you, Kai," Cole said, extending a hand towards Zane and helping the nindroid to his feet. "Just don't do anything stupid, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," grumbled Kai, nudging Lloyd with his elbow as if to say move.

Lloyd dramatically fell on the ground, clutching his side in fake pain. "Ow Kai! You have stabbed me with the sword that is your elbow!"

Kai raised an eyebrow at the green ninja before actually saying, "Move."

"Okay, okay! I'm moving!" Lloyd laughed as he sat up and crawled out of the blanket and stood beside Cole and Zane.

"Ah, the terrifying Knight Kai has attacked!" teased Nya, wrapping her fingers around Jay's and snuggling close to him.

Kai once more glared at the couple while Jay stuck his tongue out at the red ninja.

"Whatever, I'm going to bed," he informed the group once he was out of the blanket. He did the I'm watching you gesture at Jay and Nya before walking out of the room backwards. He should have watched where he was walking though, for he hit his head against the door. "Ow!" he complained, rubbing the back of his head. He ignored the laughter and walked out of the room, this time turning around to make sure he didn't do something embarrassing again.

If he hadn't turned around, he might have noticed the smirk Zane, Lloyd, and Cole shared or might have seen the high-five that Jay and Nya exchanged with their free hands.

----

Kai eagerly shot out of bed, pumping his fists in the air. "I'M AN ADULT!" he yelled giddily, dancing a little bit. "Oh I have so much power now! I can legally vote! Ooo! I can legally smoke a cigarette... wait nope, not a good idea. I could die. I'm officially older than everyone but Zane and Wu! Ha! No one can tell me what to do anymore! WOOHOO!"

Kai almost squealed--almost--but stopped himself. Now that he was basically the man of the ship, he had to make sure he didn't do anything juvenile. Yes, his childish days were behind him. He was going to be the most mature, most adult... adult, most awesome person on this ship! Kai was officially a man!

A loud scream broke his super cool thoughts and he instinctively got into a fighting stance. "Was that--" he began, but was immediately cut off when he heard one more scream.

That confirmed it.

"NYA!" he screeched loudly, pulling his sword from under his bed (because yes, he slept with a sword under his bed!) and racing out of his room.

He ran past the closed doors of his teammates' rooms, slightly shocked to see that he was the only one doing anything about the screams, and burst through her door, which was slightly ajar.

Her room was a mess. A complete and utter mess. Her clothing was scattered everywhere, her blueprints were trampled on, and the covers of her bed were in a messy pile on the floor. The room was filled with a cool breeze from the now open window.

"Nya..." he whispered, his voice strained and unshed tears already welling up in his eyes. "Not again... not today..."

He ran out of Nya's room, trying to find his brothers. "How could they possibly have let this happen?!" he breathed. "Why don't they care?"

He searched and searched the entire Bounty until he stumbled upon Sensei Wu, quietly sipping tea in the kitchen, completely and utterly calm.

"WU!" he yelled, storming into the kitchen. His sensei seemed unfazed by the sudden scream and that made Kai even angrier. "WHAT. HAPPENED. TO. MY. SISTER?!"

Wu just sighed and shook his head, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a little circular device. "Kai," he said sadly, "there is something I have not told you."

All Kai saw was red. "There's something you haven't told me yet? Wow! What's new! Yet another bad thing happens to my sister because you failed to tell me something!"

The sensei still seemed completely unfazed. "Kai, please calm down. The Prince left this for you." The older man handed the device to Kai.

"Prince?" he barked, slightly skeptical. Wu didn't respond. Kai glared at the device in his hand, and noticed that there was a button that was flashing a light blue. He cautiously pressed said button and jumped back when the device began to shake and dropped it.

A beam of light shot out of the device, creating a holographic image of a man wearing a light blue cloak, the hood covering his face.

"Greetings, young Kai," a distorted yet vaguely familiar voice drifted from the image. "If you are receiving this message, then you have noticed that your sister is nowhere to be found. Don't worry, for she is safe."

The image changed to show Nya struggling against invisible bonds. Strangely, she was wearing one of her more fancy dresses and had her hair tastefully curled.

The image changed back to the so-called prince. "I intend to marry your dear sister," he intoned. "For she holds the power to unlock a device that will make Ninjago mine! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

Kai grit his teeth as the holographic man maniacally chuckled. "I know you have a hero's complex, young Kai," the holograph said. "But let me give you this warning: any attempt to rescue your sister will result in dire consequences. It may even lead me to be... a little less polite. So, I would advise that you stay away. At least until I've taken over the world. Ta-ta, young Kai!"

The holograph faded. Kai felt almost breathless. "Who was that?" he asked his sensei, turning to face him.

"The Prince, Kai, must be stopped," Sensei Wu said, blatantly ignoring Kai's question. "And you are the only one who can stop him."

"But who is he? I've never heard of a Prince in Ninjago!"

He was once again ignored as his sensei continued, "You must go on a quest to stop The Prince from taking over the world and to save your sister."

"Quest? I'm sorry, as awesome as that sounds, who says 'quest' anymore?"

"But, to do so, you will need some help." Wu clapped his hands and Kai straightened when he heard the sound of running feet and someone... giggling? A second later a figure entered the room and Kai's jaw dropped.

Standing in front of him with his hair left naturally curly, wearing a white long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up beneath an extremely dark blue vest, a pair of brown trousers, a jacket of the same color, and a dark brown bag slung over his shoulder was Jay. His natural hair threw Kai off a bit, but what really took him by surprise was how pointed his ears and shoes were and the dagger strapped in his silver belt.

"Jay?" he questioned, shock extremely evident in his voice. "What're you... why are your ears so pointy?"

Jay laughed. "I'm an elf, duh!"

"An elf?" Kai deadpanned. Jay nodded eagerly. "Okay... I'm not sure why you're so happy because your girlfriend has been kidnapped, but where is everyone else?"

"Silly Kai, our quest has only started! What kind of quest would this be if there were more than two of us on this fine journey to begin with!" the blue ninj- elf chuckled.

"Okay, I'm sorry, something has got to be going on!" Kai exclaimed, putting his hands in the time out position. "Because Jay would normally be freaking out right now because Nya has been kidnapped. So can someone please tell me what is happening?"

Sensei Wu sighed and shook his head. "Kai, that is something we cannot tell you. You will understand only when you truly embrace the power of the quest."

"Okay, fine," groaned Kai, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "So Jay and I are going on this quest to save my sister. What'd we do first? Where is this elusive prince?"

"You must travel through the Birchwood forest, for his castle lies in the middle," Sensei Wu told him.

"Oooof course it does. How convenient."

"Before we land, Kai, and you embark on this quest, you must first look your part. I fear pajamas and that sword really do not work," continued Wu.

"Okay, fine! I'll play along! What do I need to wear?" Kai said through gritted teeth.

"Elf Jay?" Wu said, gesturing towards his oddly dressed friend.

Jay opened his bag and pulled out a grey pair of pants and grey undershirt. "The rest is in your room, Sir Kai," he said dramatically. Kai just glared at his brother. Jay rolled his eyes and shoved him towards the door. "Go change," he instructed.

Kai grumbled as he complied, muttering unkind words under his breath. His muttering stopped, however when he entered his room and saw what was lying on his bed.

Armor.

There was a silver burgonet with a red feathery plume sticking out of the back, a silver cuirass with a red flame running across the chest, what appeared to be very flexible, so assumably not metal, gauntlets, and a freaking awesome pair of leather boots. Kai stood gaping at the incredible armor before him, not sure if he should touch it (as he didn't want to get fingerprints all over it), but eventually his excitement got the best of him and he quickly changed into the soft linen undergarments Jay had given him before, then immediately threw the armor on.

Kai glanced at himself in the mirror and once again had to stop himself from squealing. He looked so cool. A part of him felt guilty being this excited about the situation because his sister had just been kidnapped, but the armor was just so cool!

Kai shook his head. Focus, Kai. You need to be the mature adult and rescue your sister from this random prince guy. Be mature, and be awesome.

Sighing, Kai marched out of his room. "Ready," he told Jay, who was waiting outside of the room.

Jay, being the immature sixteen-year-old he was, actually squealed. "Awe! You look so awesome!"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Kai said firmly, grabbing Jay's hand and dragging him towards a different door. "Let's just save my sister."

"Wait, Sir Kai," Sensei suddenly appeared out of nowhere. "It is dangerous to go unarmed. Here." he offered Kai a sword sheathed in an elaborate scabbard. "Take this."

Kai carefully took the sword and put it on. "We won't fail, Sensei," he said, bowing respectfully. "We'll stop this stupid prince guy and save Nya. C'mon Jay."

"Yay!" Jay cheered as he and Kai exited the ship. "We're going on a killer quest!"

"Good luck, Sir Kai," their Sensei called after them as the two ninja... well a knight and an elf(?) embarked on their epic quest.

----

Well, here's the first little part of our quest. Kai's a knight in shining armor, Jay's an elf, and Nya is a kidnapped princess. Any guesses on who the Prince might be? :D

Next chapter, Kai will be facing his first foe and will encounter a VERY grumpy fairy who refuses to stay in character(If you can guess who the fairy is, I will be shocked. XD).
