Reunion

"Yuuka-senpai!"

"I got it!" the said girl received the ball easily and lifted it high enough for her setter. "Aoi!" she yelled her name while sprinting towards the net.

"Get ready!" the captain shouted to both Christianna and Yanni. They waited for Yuuka to jump then as she got ready to smash the ball, they all jumped and stopped the ball from coming over their side. "Yes! Nice girls!"

Yuuka clicked her tongue but acknowledged their good block. "Nice read. But I won't let you block me next time!" She pointed at Yanni who smirked.

"Try me."

"Alright, girls! It's time to wrap things up!" the coach announced as she picked up some balls on the ground.

Everyone helped clean up the gym but left the net as they would use it tomorrow morning. Yuuka hurried to pack her things so she would be on time to go see the boys. "Why are you in such a hurry, Yuuka-senpai?" Yuki asked as she handed her her water bottle.

"Oh, thanks." She stuffed the bottle in her bag and turned to look at her. "The boys are having a practice match with another school and my underclassman from middle school will be there so I want to say hi before they leave. Mayu, you're coming?" she asked as she made her way to the door.

The captain packed her things as well and ran to join her friend. "Of course. It'll be fun to see Kageyama after all this time."

"I know right? Well, see you, girls!"

They waved to each other and the two third-years left the girl's gym to join the boy's one. The sound of shoes on the floor could still be heard from outside which meant they were not finished yet. They both entered the room quietly and leaned on the wall next to the door to watch the practice. Oikawa had just entered the match after he finished warming up. Karasuno High was leading so far.

"I'm surprised Karasuno is leading," Yuuka whispered. "They must not be bad."

Mayu nodded. "But Oikawa wasn't in I think. You know he still needed to rest his ankle."

"True. They might turn the table now."

Oikawa aced a few services but in the end, Karasuno won 2:1. Yuuka wished she would have seen the whole match. However, she was very surprised at how Kageyama seemed to get along with his new teammates. From what she heard, Kageyama was not doing so well after they left. It made her happy to see that he finally found a good team.

The two girls walked towards Karasuno's team. The bald guy was surprised to see us coming close and he was blushing while looking at his teammates in panic. It got everyone's attention and they all turned to see us. Kageyama was the most surprised of them all. "Ichima-senpai. Yuuka-senpai. I didn't think I would see you."

"Hello, Tobio-chan!" Yuuka exclaimed with a huge smile on her face.

"Heya, Kageyama. It's been a long time," Mayu greeted as she bowed a bit her head.

"It has been, yeah. You seem to be doing well," Kageyama bowed as well. Suddenly, the bald guy from earlier elbowed him to get his attention.

"Kageyama," he whispered-yelled. "You know them?" He pointed towards the two girls. They tried to hide their laughs as they did not want to appear rude to the group.

The setter nodded and introduced them to his team as he stepped out of the way so everyone could see them. "This is Ichima Mayu and this Maeda Yuuka. They're both practicing volleyball as well and their team is well-known."

"Don't praise us like this, Tobio~ It won't get you anywhere," she teased as the two girls laughed which embarrassed their underclassman.

"Nice to meet you!" a guy with brown hair stepped in. He seemed very composed and kind. "My name is Sawamura Daichi. I'm the captain." From the look of him, Yuuka knew he was the captain. He looked like a very reliable guy, just like her best friend.

They all introduced themselves one by one and started chatting a bit. "So, you're the ace, Maeda-senpai?"

"Please use my forename," she asked gently. "And of course I am! I'm just so good, you know," she joked with them while flexing a bit.

Out of nowhere, a ball flew towards them and hit the red-head. She fell on the ground, holding her head in pain. When she looked up, she saw an angry Iwaizumi. She freaked out and hid behind Kageyama, the latter seemingly surprised at their sudden closeness. "I have been calling you for five minutes already, dumbass!"

"I'm not the dumbass! That's Touru!"

"What do you mean, Yuu-chan?!" a voice echoed in the gym, sounding almost like a whine.

Iwaizumi was on the verge of bursting as the two were playing with his nerves. "Anyway," he tried to compose himself because Karasuno was still around. "You forgot your phone in the gym earlier so Hondashi asked me to give it to you."

"Oh, thanks. Wait!" she looked surprised as she held her phone, realizing something. "Did Hondashi talk to you?!"

He raised an eyebrow but nodded. "She did, why?"

She smirked and shrugged it off. "Nothing, nothing." Mayu elbowed her on her side to make her stop talking. "Sorry! Anyway, I think I'll practice a bit more with Touru if you both don't mind."

They shook their heads and warned both of them to be careful, especially with Oikawa's injury. They both nodded and promised to be careful.

They said their goodbyes to Karasuno's team and Yuuka looked around the gym but could not find the boys' setter. She looked around for a bit but shrugged when she did not manage to find him and decided to start without him.

"Excuse-me! I think I forgot something," a masculine voice announced. Yuuka was in the middle of serving. While she was mid-air, she hit the ball with all her strength, making the ball fall loudly onto the ground, an impressive sound echoed in the room as it landed on the other side of the court. As she landed back on her feet, she heard the person who just entered the room expressing his admiration. "Wow," was all he could come up with.

The girl turned towards the voice to see Kageyama standing by the door frame. She smiled at him, giving him a victory sign with a wink. "Hey, Tobio. What are you searching for?" She walked closer to him while picking up the ball she just served. He showed her his jacket without saying anything else. "Oh, nice! You found it!"

"You're still as amazing as ever, Yuuka-senpai. I love seeing you play," he added with a small blush. Yuuka could see the admiration he had in his eyes and it genuinely made her happy and proud of herself to see people feeling this way about her.

She blushed at her turn and chuckled a bit to lighten the atmosphere, scratching the back of her head awkwardly. "Thanks, Tobio. You seem to have found a nice team," she said.

Kageyama calmed down a bit and answered with a shrug. "They're still a pain in the ass."

She laughed. "That's so you!"

Kageyama blushed more than before and looked away in embarrassment. "Have you joined the Japan team yet?"

Yuuka paused, her mood going from happy to gloomy. She shook her head and put on a fake smile. "No. But I will next year."

"Why don't you join them now? They must have sent you tons of recommendations."

"Probably." Kageyama realized he should not have brought it up. He tried to find any subject to ease the mood but was not able to find anything nice to say. "You should get going," she said kindly to him. "Your team must wait."

"You're right." He cleared his throat and was ready to leave but before he reached the door he turned around one more time. "Can I get y-your number? I would love to play with you some times. I'm sure I'll learn a lot." He bowed politely as he asked for her phone number, his blush never leaving his face.

The girl chuckled but nodded her head nonetheless. "Smooth, Tobio."

The setter seemed a bit lost at her words but did not say anything else. After getting her number, he hurried to his team's side. Yuuka looked towards the direction he left and could not help but wear a huge smile on her face. Not long after, Oikawa showed up. He seemed very upset which surprised and worried the girl as he seemed fine before he disappeared earlier. Before she could even speak, he started raising his voice towards her. "Why the hell would you give him your number?!"

Yuuka was taken aback. "Why not?" she wondered, not understand why she should not keep in contact with him. "Tobio's my friend."

"Your friend?!" He frowned as he took a step closer to her. He tried to intimidate her but it did not work at all, it only got her upset as well.

"Yeah. He is. It's not because you can't get along with him that I can't talk to him. It's not like I'm asking you to befriend him."

"He's still a piece of shit!"

"Don't you talk about him like that! You better stop letting your jealousy take over! You'll just hurt people that way!" Yuuka threw these words on his face, her frown only growing. "Why am I getting so worked up?" she wondered inside her head.

Oikawa suddenly remembered Mayu's words from last time. " Be more careful about your surroundings." He looked at the floor and tried to calm down. He clenched his fists and apologized to his friend. "I'm really sorry, Yuuka."

She sighed, calming down as well. "Don't worry. Let's call it a day."

He did not say anything more and packed his things up. All the way to their houses was silent and quite awkward. Yuuka was on her phone, scrolling down social media and answering some messages while Oikawa was in his thoughts.  He has been absent-minded lately, his conversation with Mayu was still haunting his mind. He could not figure out who the person could be. He tried to think of all the people he hung out with. Then, his eyes fell on her as he realized something. He opened his eyes wide as he thought that it was probably her. But then again, he would have known. She would have told him by now or he would have noticed, wouldn't he? He wanted to ask her but he did not want to appear stupid in front of her. What if he was wrong and she laughed at his face saying that it was never going to happen again? He would not be able to get over that. Anxiety clouded his mind and, in the end, he could not bring it up to her. They both went back home without addressing a word to one another.
