Chapter 33~ Meanwhile...

Grian and Sam had since returned to their cell, which was very small considering that two people were in there. Oddly, Grian had begun to feel safer around the usually manic man. He tried to tell himself to stay on guard but the longer he stayed near Sam, the more calm he was beginning to act.
What Grian didn't know, was that all these tactics to make him feel safe were all planned and had happened to him before, during his high school years. Somehow he hadn't figured out Sam's game and he was playing right into the man's hands.

"Hey, Sam?" Grian began, sitting down on a bench inside the cramped cell.
"Yes, Gree-on?" Sam replied, smiling intently.

"Do you remember high school? Or Taurtis? You've not said anything about it since meeting." Grian asked curiously, trying to reminisce.

Grian was oblivious to the fact that Taurtis' name acted as a trigger in the man's mind and would send him into a manic episode each time it was spoken.
Sam let out a laugh, alerting Grian immediately. He knew what that specific laugh meant.

"You are Taurtis. Right?" Sam giggled, glaring at Grian with an evil glint in his eyes.

"What- no! You can't do this again! I'm- I'm not him!" Grian shouted, watching Sam frown. The avian shuffled slowly to the far wall of the cell.

"You're Taurtis." Sam whispered, walking towards Grian.

"What are you doing? S-sam?" Grian asked, pressing himself against the wall and as far away from Sam as possible.

"YOU ARE TAURTIS!" Sam screamed, hurling himself towards Grian, who yelped in surprise.

Sam dived for Grian's throat who somehow managed to Dodge out of the way in a moment of pure terror. Instead, Sam crashed into the wall headfirst. He peeled himself off of the wall, clutching his nose which had began to bleed. Grian panicked and sped to the bars of the cell, grabbing them in a pitiful attempt to get out.

"Please! Someone help!" He screamed aimlessly.

Tears rolled down Grian's face, he knew he should've kept fighting but he had began to lose hope and he was tired. So incredibly tired.
So he slid down to the ground, still gripping the bars with the little strength he had left.

Sam saw Grian in this state and immediately took the chance to attack.

"Taurtis. You are Taurtis, right?" Sam said, crouching down beside the Avian calmly. It was as if he hadn't just tried to murder the shorter of the two.

"No, Sam. No I'm not Taurtis." Grian muttered tiredly in one last act of defiance.

Sam growled furiously. He placed his hands on Grian's wings, getting a relatively tight grip on the multicolored feathers.
Sam admired the softness of the wings before scowling and tugging the feathers, causing Grian to gasp painfully. The avian screamed, trying to scramble away, desperate for any chance of escape.

Sam gripped each feather before tugging them out and tossing them onto the cold stone floor. Blood had began to pool in the areas which had been pulled at. Grian saw black dots in his vision, a ringing forming in his ears. He tried screaming again, but no sound came out of his mouth as if he wasn't in control of his own body. The ringing worsened and a migraine-like pain formed as his vision narrowed further.
He closed his eyes, begging for the pain to just stop and for the whole ordeal to be over. He felt each of his limbs go limp, a refreshing cold feeling taking over his body.
And just like that, he gave up...
