Chapter 18~ An awkward dinner
Grian sat beside Xanthe awkwardly. He knew he needed to ask Xyla about taking his childhood friend to the overworld but the topic seemed so delicate and fragile.
"So, Grian. What have you been up to this whole time?" Xyla asked whilst stabbing a small mushroom on her plate.
"I- uh. I made some friends in a server called Hermitcraft..." Grian chuckled anxiously.
"That's wonderful! You know, things just haven't been the same around here since you left. You two were always trouble makers! I presume that hasn't changed at all." Xyla laughed heartily.
"Nope! I've gotten a little better at flying though! Now I can get through even the smallest gaps!" Grian laughed, trying to forget about his request.
"Well, mother, Grian was actually going to ask you something." Xanthe nudged Grian, trying his best to encourage the smallee Hermit.
"Oh? Is that so, Grian?" Xyla asked, placing her fork down and showing that they had her attention.
"W-well... I was wondering if Xanthe could come to Hermitcraft and take a look around?" Grian muttered, refusing to look at the Queen.
"...I will think about it... Please get some rest boys..." Xyla broke the silence, speaking in a low voice. She seemed different. In a bad way.
Neither of them felt like arguing with the queen so they stood up and made their way slowly to their rooms, barely any words passing between the two.
They decided to hang out in Xanthe's room for a little and it looked magical. There were blue lights strung up around the place and many relics placed delicately on shelving. Each and every item looked brand new despite being hundreds and thousands of years old.
Xanthe also had a small emotion ball that was a bright, royal blue. The room seemed taller than Grian's, but that was fine, considering that there was at least a foot difference between the two.
They both sat on Xanthe's bed, not sure what to say. The silence, although long and boring, felt comfortable and warm.
"What if she doesn't let me go?" Xanthe muttered, laying down.
"...you probably won't like this idea but we could just run away..." Grian suggested, smiling mischievously.
"Maybe...but what if she finds out! I know that Sam is a really serious threat... And that he needs taking down as soon as we can..." Xanthe murmured, considering the offer.
The room fell into silence again.
