Chapter 13~ Puppet...
Sam had been stuck in the small, cramped cell for about a day, and he was getting lonely and bored. Usually, boredom never occurred, but in the cell, there wasn't much to do at all. There was some moss, which he had tried eating. It tasted mossy. And there were also some fake bones to make the place more realistic.
Sam sat and waited for someone to walk by, but the only thing he could hear were footsteps from the bridge above. He sat for another hour, when he suddenly heard someone muttering to themselves. Sam immediately stood up, running to the bars of the cell. He saw a tall man, with dog-like features and some sunglasses.
"Hey! You!" Sam shouted, gaining the attention of the person.
"Me?" The man asked, getting closer to the cell.
"Yes, you!" Sam shouted, sighing at the taller man's stupidity.
"Hey, aren't you that Sam guy? You seemed to be scaring Grian the other day when I first saw you..." The man asked, now able to see Sam fully.
"Yeah...who are you?" Sam questioned.
"I'm RenDiggityDawg!" He answered excitedly.
"Your real name..." Sam was getting annoyed.
"My name's Ren! Nice to meet you, Sam!" Ren laughed.
"Okay, Ren...can you please get me out of here... I'm sort of stuck." Sam smiled. Ren seemed very easy to manipulate to his liking.
"What? I don't think I can do that. You'd be in here for a reason, right?" Ren asked, stepping away from the man with bunny ears.
"Well...actually, I was forced into here." Sam lied, acting miserable.
"What?! By who?!" Ren asked immediately falling for Sam's trick.
"By Xisuma, Stress and Grian! Mumbo, Tango, Bdubs and Keralis also helped. It's so tragic!" Sam said, turning away from Ren to add effect.
"What?! No way! What did they do?" Ren asked, looking surprised.
"They...locked me in here because they thought I hurt Grian. The truth is, I was being controlled! By the Watchers!"
Ren looked terrified. He had heard many stories about Watchers and how they could control people easily, and how they were relentless murderers.
"A-and they still think it was you?" Ren asked, still shaken by Sam's tragic story.
"Unfortunately, yes...Will you help me?" Sam asked turning to see Ren holding the bars and trying to force them open.
"Yeah...yeah. I'll help! Just gotta-" Ren started.
"There is a door right there. And there are keys hung up beside it... You can stop biting the metal now!" Sam facepalmed. Was Ren really this stupid or just innocent?
"Oh! Right...sorry!" Ren rushed over to the side, grabbing the keys and opening the door.
Sam immediately ran out, giggling a little. He looked upwards, seeing the many bridges in the ravine. How would he escape? He'd need to think about that before going anywhere.
"Alright, Ren. I have a task for you. Go and distract the others, make sure no-one goes outside and definitely make sure no-one sees me, because then I'll be in the cell again! After about 30 minutes, make your way over to the coordinates -30, 56, 82." Sam explained, waiting for Ren's response.
"Okay! I promise, you won't get caught!" Ren grinned, running up the ladderand onto the bridges. He gave Sam a thumbs up, before leaving.
Sam sighed. This may be harder than he thought. He waited until he heard a door close, before following Ren up the ladder, but staying away from where the Hermits supposedly were. He got out of the ravine, looking out into the woods. It was early morning so it was cold and frosty, but the trees were dense and thick. They hadn't lost their leaves yet. Sam ran as fast as he could, rushing through the forest and away from the small base. He was exhausted by the time he reached his own cave base, entering and sitting down on the crafting bench. He sighed again.
Why did everything have to end up like this? He thought to himself.
Everything was fine until the other Hermits intervened! No... this is Grian's fault! All his fault! Sam was angry. Grian had ruined all of his plans and now he was a wanted criminal! There was only one person on his side, and if Ren finds out the truth, then he'd be completely alone.
Escaping the prison was only the first part of the puzzle. Now he'd have to find away to destroy the problems in his way. Grian wasn't the only person he'd have to dispose of now. Xisuma and Mumbo were at the top of his list. They would both tell the other Hermits, without a doubt. Grian was always too scared to snitch, so he was never a problem. But now there are multiple people who know his true intentions.
Ren arrived, looking very unhappy and very very wet.
"Why did it have to start raining!?" He shouted, slamming the door behind him and sitting down on the furnace frustratedly.
"I'm glad you made it, Ren. Thanks for helping. You're like my little puppet." Sam giggled, leaning against the wall.
"Alright, what do we do now, dude? They're not just going to believe you immediately, are they? So what do we do?" Ren asked, trying to get all of the water out of his clothes.
"I don't really know. Maybe you could get some of your other friends to help? What about that creeper guy? What was his name?" Sam asked, collecting a few more blades from a chest and putting them in his pockets.
"Oh, Doc! Yeah! He's my best friend! I'm sure he'll believe us! He has to!" Ren explained, a netherite sword being passed to him by Sam.
"Great...we'll give him a visit as soon as we can..." Sam laughed again, happy that he might be able to win.
