Chapter 5 ||Existence Of A Fairytale||
Almost an hour passed............
Cerlesta was still with her aunt as she was asked to stay. Cerlesta had no idea what is she ever going to do, without Caspian. She wanted to go the professor but she waited until her uncle comes with news about her brother.
Suddenly the door of the suit was opened and as she expected, it was her uncle. She stood up from the sofa and greeted him with a slight smile.
"Uh, Cerlesta! What a surprise! Happy Birthday!" Miraz beamed.
"Thank you, uncle." She responded. Punaprismia shot him a glare, seeing Cerlesta uncomfortable at his cheering wish.
Miraz caught his wife's glance and turned to his niece, "Um...I see, you're upset over his departure. How could something like this happen to us all, especially to you on your birthday?" he said dramatic concern, unknown to Cery and his wife.
"Did you get any news about him?" asked Prunaprismia worriedly.
"Oh yes! And that's the another reason I'm here. I half expected I might find you here." He said, turning to Cerlesta.
"Did the guards found him?" Asked Cerlesta, loosing her patience on him to spit the details out.
"Not really, but I dearly hope... he's alive." He said. Cerlesta gasped loudly, tears picking her eyes.
"You mean...something has happened to him?" asked Prunaprismia in shock.
"No!" whispered Cerlesta as she moved her hand to her neck to squeeze her crystal pendant; a tear escaped from her eyes as she realized it isn't there. 'Oh brother!' her heart cried bitterly.
"Not sure yet," he said to his wife and turned to Cerlesta, "Your brother Caspian was abducted by Narnians." He said, his voice was hardened.
"N-Narnians?" Cerlesta asked in utter confusion +shock +surprise, "But..how? They are supposed to be extinct, aren't they?"
"Yes, you're right my dear, but I'm afraid some of them survived and their generations lived and are living here in Narnia, unknown to us." Said Miraz.
"And you're saying they kidnapped Caspian? But why would they do that? I mean..what has Caspian ever done to them?" she asked, fighting to believe this strange thing about Narnians.
"That's what I'm not getting. But you see, we have proofs. You would have noticed the torn curtain of Caspian's bed, haven't you?" Miraz asked.
Cerlesta gasped slightly as she remembered the torn curtain, "Yes I have, but how can we be firmly sure that Narnians did this?" Cerlesta asked still struggling to believe.
"You said we have 'proofs', the torn curtain is only one, is there another one too?" asked Prunaprismia.
"Yes love, we have. General and his men have found a fierce creature, a Narnian fairytale creature. A creature called 'red dwarf'." Said Miraz.
"A red dwarf?" breathed Cerlesta.
"I see, you know it." Said Miraz in an annoying tone.
Cerlesta bit her lips nervously.
"Then where is it now?" asked Prunaprismia.
"Well, I brought him to the counsel before the lords and then sent him with two soldiers to exile him, to drown him in a river, far." He said.
Cerlesta covered her mouth in shock. "I know this day has started with a lot of shocking news for you. I'm afraid I have one more, which you should know Cerlesta; I have thrown your dearest professor to the dungeon because I believe, he has something to do with Caspian's missing. And I forbid you from visiting him in the dungeon." he demanded in harsh voice, to which Cerlesta wasn't familiar.
"But professor will never ever do anything like that! He loves and cares for me and Caspian! He also is very loyal and trustful! He would never betray!" Cerlesta argued.
"Or so you thought. Just some moments ago, I found something that belonged to the Narnians in his room. Something that belonged to the Kings and Queens of old, if I'm right." He said with a devious smile of his.
"How in the world could that be possible? He's a Telmarine, after all." Said Cerlesta.
"Let's not waste our time in this conversation, I have go to Beruna and see the bridge's work myself. I promise you, Cerlesta, we will find Caspian." Said Miraz.
"Thank you, would you mind if...if I join you on your... journey to Beruna? I hope a journey might help me from depression; only if you're willing." She asked nervously.
"If you think that will help you to be distracted, I won't say no. That would be the least happiness I can give you on this birthday of yours after all of the shocks you've had." He said with a smile, grasping her shoulders and giving it a slight shake.
"Thank you so much." She smiled.
"Think nothing of it, now go and get ready. We'll be off within half an hour, I'll see you at the stables." He said.
"Right away!" she said and exited the suit, waving a bye to her aunt.
"That's so kind of you to let her come along. I haven't seen her down like this before, I do hope a journey to Beruna might ease her stress." Said Prunaprismia, once the door was closed.
"So do I." said Miraz, "She seems very doomed and has lost her spirit."
"Yes, the only thing that can restore her spirit is, getting Caspian back." Said Prunaprismia.
"Yes." Miraz responded shortly and entered his room to get ready.
......
Cerlesta hurried to her room and got ready. She took a quick hot bath and put on a riding dress. She let her hair down and wore a simple-style golden circlet.
As Caspian has always instructed her, Cerlesta tied her dagger
(which Caspian gave on her last birthday) to her waist belt, unnoticeable. She put on her boots, took her black cloak and hurried to the stables.
As requested, her honey brown horse Restriel, sister of Caspian's Destrier, was saddled already.
As she walked to Restriel, a neighing caught her attention. She turned towards that direction and saw it was Destrier,
"Oh Dest!" she sighed heavily and walked towards him.
"I'm so sorry, I'm not going on a leisure trip, Cas's gone-" she was interrupted by his loud neighing.
"WOAH!! Easy boy, ea....sy.... I know, can't believe it ha? I can't either." She said softly as she petted him. He neighed again, this time shaking his mane.
"Calm down Destrier!" she said, but it didn't work. "If you're trying to say something, I'm sorry I can't understand. I wish if you could speak like the talking horses of Narnia. I believe they too still exist as that poor red dwarf my uncle said about." She said and rested her head against Destrier's.
"Your highness, King Miraz is ready, they all are." Her maid called out to her.
"Bye Dest, I'll see you." She kissed him on his nose.
'I wish if I could find Caspian or any Narnians. I still can't believe what uncle said about them. Oh I wish Cas's alright.' Thought Cerlesta as she walked to her horse.
Other than mind clearing, her plan was to find any Narnians to get the truth. She has never showed any interest in going on a ride with anyone than her brother before. But this time she had to.
She looked up at her home and sighed, "What a messy day! I've never encountered such in my life before!" she muttered under her breath to herself.
A journey with her uncle has always been extremely boring.
Stay tuned, Cerlesta is about to meet with someone....
And stay safe. May GOD protect you all!
Happy Resurrection Day
