(Ink's POV)

Blue was pacing back and forth, and I was staring out the window. Some of the other au's were with us too. Dream has been missing for a few weeks, and no one has heard of Nightmare for a while. Strange. And the fact that Dust and Horror weren't talking wasn't helping at all.

"I hope Dream is okay." Blue asked worryingly.

"With any luck, boss finally got rid of him." Dust responded. A bunch of au's gave death glares at them, but he didn't care.

"Could anyone have spotted him anywhere? Hiding in a au? Something?" Nobody was answering me, and it was getting irritating. I grabbed Dust by the hoodie.

"Hey, watch the hoodie!"

"Take us to Nightmare." I asked harshly. Dust shook in denial, but was sweating by the intensity of everyone's glares.

"E-Even if I had the guts to do that, boss will kill me! Plus, he would have you all crushed in no time!" Horror was breathing deeply behind him. "And can someone PLEASE feed this lunatic?! He's creeping me out here!!"

I sighed and went into the other room, wanting some time to myself. I was passing time by painting the walls with maps and possible area Dream would be in. But none showed any clues as to where he could be. However, something got my attention; there was a single string hanging from the ceiling. It was thin and blue.

"Oh boy..." Suddenly, I was thrust into the air by several other blue strings. I was upside down, and facing my glitching rival. "Hey Error! Didn't expect to see you again! How was your break?"

"jUsT sHuT uP fOr A sEcOnD, i NeEd To AsK yOu SoMeThInG." He looked focused on something, and I was already curious due to the fact he would be trying to kill me right now.

"Okay...what?"

"wHaT iS uP wItH tHeIr SoUlS?"

"Who?" The strings tightened a little with his irritation increasing.

"DoN't PlAy DuMb SqUiD! i'M tAlKiNg AbOuT dReAm AnD nIgHtMaRe!"

My eye sockets widened. "I-I don't know what you're talking about. Last time I checked, both of them have souls of only one color like everybody, except for you of course. And me since I don't have a soul in the first place." That seemed to put him at ease. The last thing I wanted right now was for him to go ballistic in a house where everyone is downstairs.

"wHeN i ChEcKeD nIgHtMaRe'S sOuL eArLiEr, I nOtIcEd HiS sOuL. iT WaS...uStAbLe."

"What do you mean by that?"

"i MeAn ThE eMoTiOnAl AnD mAgIcAl EnErGy ThAt MaKe Up HiS sOuL aReBaTtLiNg FoR cOnTrOl. iT cOuLd Be DaNgErOuS tO bE aRoUnD hIm."

"Why are you exactly telling me this?" Why is he telling me this? Why isn't he just killing me right now?

Error sighed a little before unwrapping the strings around me. I landed on the ground hard. "Owww."

"kEeP iN mInD, i WiLl StIlL eNd YoU, bUt If I'm RiGht, ThEn NiGhTmArE wIlL sOoN bReAk." He opened a portal, and spoke in a commanding tone as it closed. "If YoU hAvE aNy CoMmOn SeNsE, yOu WiLl StAy AwAy FrOm HiM."

"What about you?"

"I hAtE tHe IdEa, BuT i'm GoNnA tRy TaLkInG tO hIm. SeE wHaT's WrOnG. tAkE mY aDvIcE sQuId."

The portal closed up, leaving me alone in the room again. That was probably the first time Error talked to me without trying to kill me or anyone else. Did he look worried about Nightmare's condition? The door opens, revealing one of the Toriel's with a pie.

"Ink sweetie, are you alright? Were you talking with someone?" She asked softly, helping me up.

"I'm fine Toriel. Thank you for the pie."

"Don't worry little one, we'll find your friend. We just need some time."

"I'm not sure we have time now." I whispered. This caught her off guard.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I need you to call everyone back to the living room."
