Slowly the sun sinks

Behind the mountains gloom

They swallowed her brightness

Fulfilling her doom

Darkness surrounded

The crystal night air

Who does shine now?

Only piercing stars dare

The chill of the evening

Creeps under my skin

Shivers of fear

Run up me again

I look to the moon

To lean on her light

But whispering shadows

Draw me from her sight

Whispering, shivering

Shadows impending

Harbouring darkness

Evil unending

They whisper of dark things

My brightness to murder

Saying I'm worthless

Sad intents harbour

Reaching and stretching

To pull me inside

Running away

I long now to hide

I wish for the sunshine

The safety of light

For whispering shadows

Are born of the night

With the strike of a match

They draw back in terror

But I still hear their whispers

And the message they murmur

"Though you should expel us

With a feeble small light

Who said we were bound

To the darkness of night."
