Worthless Trials
With unsteady breaths, I collapsed on the ground, my hand still on the corner of the table for some type of support. Afterwords, I let go to the table and covered my mouth, just as I coughed. From my position, I watched as a red liquid slowly dripped onto the wooden flooring of where the I sat. I grimaced and hesitantly looked up at the clock. It was 3:58 in the morning. From there, the red liquid decided to trickle down the side of my mouth to the side of my neck. Eventually it touched my shirt and drenched the area that covered my heart. I stood up in disgust, still felling a bit dizzy. I made my way into the bathroom and stared at my own reflection. Staring back at me was a weary looking girl. Strangely enough, I could see Kana looming over me. "Damn", I hissed as I looked down at the sink. I turned on the faucet and watched as the blood began to drip down onto the water, turning it into a faint red. I took a deep breath and sighed, beginning to recall the event that happened three days ago.

After what seemed to be about like 5 hours, Luurè finally stopped them. The room that was once grey now had small splashes of red. I was completely exhausted, weary from moving around for too long. Eion and Xeila on the other hand, looked as if they could keep going. I fell to my knee and took slow, painful breaths. I was clinging onto my side trying to ignore the sharp pain that was there. Somewhere to my side, there was clapping. I slowly looked over my shoulder to see a delighted grin on Luurè's face. Nearby him, Xeila and Eion. Xeila was already standing beside the door, ready to open it and leave while Eion glanced around the room and sighed. To be completely honest, that blood wasn't just mine.
"Congratulations on surviving the first test", Luurè called out to me optimistically, "To think that you were able to avoid being killed by two members of the Makai Council. You really are something." I frowned and stared at the empty space in front of me, trying to maintain my composure. I didn't want to faint. At least not here. I heard footsteps behind me but I didn't bother to turn around and see who it was. "Get up", Eion said behind me. He wasn't using that usual misleading tone of his. I reluctantly stood up and turned around to face him. Eion smirked. "You're just a human", he said softly, "But you really are a decoy for the Guardians aren't you ?" I wearily smiled in response. "Though that means nothing", I replied bitterly. After all, it wasn't like they were trying either. They were only playing a questionable game. They weren't serious. That's the only reason to why I'm still alive.
If only I wasn't in this situation where I had to play as a weakling, then maybe I could've avoided being covered in wounds. But what more could I do ? I had to maintain a "weakened" state until Asai and the others managed to save the other two. The only problem was, how long would it take them to finish ? Time runs at an irregular pace. My health was deteriorating.
After that, I was taken back to my room where I was left alone for the rest of the day. Since then, I've been taking the time to recover. I sprained a few things but I was lucky enough to not have broken anything. I was like a mummy. Completely covered in bandages. However even I knew that something was going to come up shortly. Three days wasn't enough to heal. I was well aware that I was pushing myself too hard. Very soon, I was going to get sick.
It was always so inevitable.

It wasn't until about 7:15, that there was a knock on the door. I opened it to see Arlyin standing there with my food. I don't think I mentioned it, but she was the girl that was with Eion that one day. It turns out that she was my, I guess, "housekeeper", or something like that. To put it bluntly, someone who watched me from my room. She smiled at me and walked in. I slowly closed the door behind me and watched as she set the food down on the table. "Difficulties ?", she asked me softly. I painfully sighed. "You can tell ?", I mumbled wearily. She turned around and nodded her head. "Of course", she replied sternly, "I'm a demon. I can tell when blood has been spilt." I took a seat on the wooden flooring and frowned, placing a hand on the bandage that was wrapped around my head. "Is it hard for you ?", she asked me. "It looks like they beat you up pretty badly." I shook my head. "I've been through more difficult things", I replied softly, blankly staring at the floor. "Liar", she replied. I grinned. "Maybe", I mumbled slowly. "Life in general is so difficult. It's hard to keep up sometimes." Arlyin laughed as I forced myself to stand. I glanced over the food. There was avocado toast with egg.. tomato toast with macadamia ricotta.. and a lot of other things. Of course, there was water.
"Have you been trying to figure out what humans eat ?", I asked in a joking manner. Arlyin sighed and stared at the food with a blank expression. "I mean the food here isn't exactly that different..", she mumbled, "But it's better to play safe and not give any of it to you. Humans have such delicate bodies than we do. I don't know how they function." I chuckled and took a seat in one of the chairs. "Care to join me then ?", I suggested. She smirked as she turned towards the door. "I would", she began to say, "But I have other things to do at the moment. Maybe for dinner I'll join you." I chuckled. "Deal", I replied, and watched as she left the room. From the outside of the room, I could hear a 'click'. I leaned back into the chair and sighed.
I hoped the others weren't dead.
