Her story
HELLO PEEPS! Today I'm going to tell you about someone who MUST NOT BE FORGOTTEN. If you don't know who Princess Diana is, read this. I'm basically going to tell you her whole life story, because a lot of people in our younger generation don't know who she was, and that is NOT OKAY because she was the most generous and kindest person ever. So strap yourselves in for a whole lecture (it won't be boring)
So, let me tell you her story. Princess Diana wasn't born as a princess, as I hope you know. My friend literally thought she was born a princess, and I was just like what the heck you do not know you Princess Diana facts. So no, she was not born a princess, but she was born into a very important family. She was born into the Spencer family, which is one of Great Britain's oldest and most important families. Growing up, she had two sisters, but she barely ever saw them because they went to boarding school. She also had a little brother, whom she was very close to. Diana's parents first had two girls, her sisters, but then they wanted a boy very badly so that they had someone to carry the family name. Before Diana was born, they got their boy, but he sadly didn't make it. Then, they had Diana. They wanted Diana to be a boy so badly that they didn't even pick out a girl name. When she was born, they were disappointed and came up with the name Diana, which I think is a very nice name. Throughout her life Dianna always felt unwanted and sad because her parents were disappointed when she was born. So like a year later, they finally got their boy. They named him Charles, which is weird because that's the name of her future husband, but that'll come later. Diana and her brother were very close. They had many nannies because in important families like theirs, the rich parents worked and had conferences and stuff, and the nannies took care of the children. Her parents also divorced when she was young, and that was very hard for her too. And in school, she didn't have good grades, her brother would often make fun of her, she said in an interview that she would run to the headmistress crying saying "why am I so stupid and thick?" or something like that.
So, lets jump ahead to when she was like 18 or 20. She went to finishing school, which was school for women from important families, to teach them how to cook and sew and play instruments and stuff. She didn't like finishing school, so she begged her dad to let her leave, and he finally did. She got her own apartment and shared it with three close friends. She began working as an assistant kindergarten teacher. Of course she loved the kids and the kids loved her. Let's switch topics now. So back then in the olden days, Prince Charles's favorite sport was polo. So girls would watch him play polo, and Diana was lucky enough to get to talk to him after a polo match. Diana had met him before, at royal balls and stuff, because her family was friends with the royal family. But now she actually got to have a normal conversation, you know, they were chit chattin, and he asked her on a date. He immediately saw how kind and caring and lively she was. Many dates and invitations followed. People would follow her around and take pictures of her because she was fabulous and she was dating the prince. Then, he asked her to marry him and of course she said yes, because she loved him and he was a prince. But, during an interview, the reporter asked if they were in love. Diana said "Of course" but Charles said "Whatever in love means". Diana said that she was absolutely traumatized that night. She also said that the night before the wedding, Charles told her that he didn't love her. Imagine going into a marriage where the man you're marrying doesn't even love you. She loved him so much too. Before they were married, Charles grabbed her waist and said "A bit chubby here, aren't we?", which caused her to develop a deadly eating disorder called bulimia.
So before they got married, people were putting their faces on plates and postage stamps and even silverware. But, before they got married, Charles went to go see his "friend" Camilla Bowles, whom he had been dating before he met Diana, and wanted to marry her but the royal family said no because she was not from a wealthy family. And she was ugly. So Camila married someone else. So right before he was about to get married, he went to see his "friend" that he used to date and wanted to marry, to give her a gift. She said in an interview that she went into Charles's office thing whatever and saw a little bag or something. A servant or someone like that said "oh no, you shouldn't open that" but she did and found a bracelet that Charles had had custom made for Camila. Right before his wedding. Diana started crying, because Charles was being an absolute you know what. I would be upset too. She was even thinking about canceling the wedding, but her sisters convinced her not to cancel it because it was already planned and their faces were on silverware. So she and Charles got married. Over 750 million people in 70 countries watched on TV, and like 3,500 people watched in person.
So after they got married, they had their honeymoon trip, which was a cruise, then Balmoral in Scotland. Charles spent hours fishing and hiking, leaving Diana by herself. Everyone at Balmoral was also older than her, so she had no one to talk too. She asked Charles if they could leave, but he refused. On their trip, Diana was also very popular and everyone wanted to see her, and took pictures of her wherever she went. Charles was jealous that he was no longer the center of attention and got mad.
So, let's skip ahead a year later. So Charles and Diana had their first son, William. Usually nannies took care of babies in the royal family, but Diana made sure that she was the one to take care of all his needs and give him all her attention. She was such a good mom, if she was my mom I would worship her. So Diana and Charles were secluded to take a tour to Australia and New Zealand. Diana refused to leave her son at home, so she brought William with her, and he became the first royal baby to go on a foreign tour. So this time too, Diana was the center of attention, everyone went crazy and wanted to see her and shake hands with her and take pictures with her. Someone reported millions of people screaming and crowding the streets just to see her driving by in an open car. But during the visit, Charles got jealous that all of the attention was on Diana, and began saying bad things about her because he was jealous. There is a picture of Diana crying because Charles was mad at her even though she couldn't control how popular she was, she didn't want all of the attention. She would literally put on a hat and sunglasses and look down so that she wouldn't get noticed. But when she tried to explain to Charles that she didn't want all of the attention, he wouldn't listen. When I saw that picture I wanted to cry, because it was just so sad because she was such a good person and Charles was being so unfair.
So after that, Charles would often go on hunting trips with his dear old friend Camila, and Diana was forced to stay home.
So later, Diana had her second son, Harry. Charles really wanted him to be a girl for some reason, so when Harry was born he said "Oh God, it's a boy" and commented negatively on Harry's red hair, which was a common Spencer trait. Charles is such a jerk.
So after that, Diana started appearing in magazines and fashion things and events and stuff.
Diana also started doing more charity and community work. She loved to help and visit disabled and sick people. In 1987, she visited AIDS patients in a hospital. There was a deadly disease called AIDS that people believed you could catch if you went near the sick people. Diana visited them, and shook hands with them and gave them hugs. She refused to wear gloves while shaking their hands. She forever changed things for AIDS people. This showed the world that you couldn't get the sickness by touching them. Wow. She would hug and shake hands with people that no one would go near because they had a deadly disease. Wow. This is one example of how she was such a great person.
Diana also started visiting more hospitals. She visited sick and poor children and people. She said that meeting the sick children and people meant more to her than meeting celebrities or government leaders. Wow. She was so happy be be there, visiting the children and people, talking to them and making them feel better.
She also helped homeless people. She raised money for charities for homeless people and visited homeless shelters. Someone said "The questions she asked, the way she asked them, her concern about not even asking question until the press people left (photographers, newspaper reporters, ect,), was all out of respect for who we were, everything was just genuine and she fit right in, she was just happy to be here, you could tell. Such a beautiful person."
And in 1990, she was president or patron of over 29 charities. She also delivered many speeches about charities and homelessness and sick and injured people.
Now, more about jerk Charles. So William was hit in the head with a golf club at school, and got a fractured skull. He had to get an operation, or surgery on his head. Diana stayed with him the that whole time, but Charles left to attend an opera thing. WHAT A JERK!!! WHAT KIND OF DAD DOES THAT?? HE LEFT HIS SON'S OPERATION TO GO TO AN OPERA. His excuse was that it wasn't a serious operation.
By the way, I forgot to mention that Diana loved her sons more than anything, and was a incredibly loving and caring mother.
So shortly after, her dad died, and Charles of course wasn't very sympathetic. Diana drove to the funeral, while Charles flew in a helicopter, which Diana did not want him to do. And Charles only flew home with her for the sake of public image.
After that, Charles wanted a separation. He was obviously cheating on Diana, and he even admitted it in an interview. So they divorced. Diana was pleased to finally have freedom from the royal family. She continued her charity work. She was photographed at many fundraisers and hospitals. She traveled the world as a representative of the International Red Cross. She spoke at fundraisers, visited AIDS patients, visited shelters, and visited the ill and disabled.
And listen to this, she would go to sick children's homes and ask their parents how they were coping. She cared that much. If that isn't the sweetest thing you ever heard, what is?
It gets better. Diana sold 79 of her dresses, they were auctioned at Christie's and raised 3.27 million dollars, which was split between several charities. She didn't keep any of it.
Charles continued to say bad things about her, and lied and said that after the divorce he had developed a close relationship with Camilla Bowles. That made me so mad because HE LIED! He was dating her way before he met Diana, and was obviously cheating on her. But Diana stole the spotlight when she went to a glamorous party, wearing her famous "revenge dress"
Diana also began visiting landmine victims. The even walked through an active minefield wearing protective armor, just to see the patients, and to spread awareness about landmines and its victims.
After the divorce, Diana began dating a man named Dodi Fayed. He invited her to join him on his trip to Paris. Diana went with him. Her sons stayed behind with their father for a six week holiday at Balmoral. Diana went with Dodi to Paris, they stayed at the Ritz hotel. They planned to have dinner at a restaurant outside of the hotel. The paparazzi were everywhere, so Diana and Dodi decided to sneak out the back. Their driver, Henri Paul, was drunk that night, and on several medications. Diana and Dodi hopped into the car and it drove away. The paparattzi followed. They chased the car on motorcycles. The car ziggzagged through the traffic, going way over the speed limit. The car drove into the Alma tunnel, and the driver couldn't control it anymore. It crashed. Henri Paul and Dodi Fayed were killed instantly. Diana was badly injured, but still alive. She was unconscious though. One of the firefighters who came to the rescue said that Diana said to him "Oh god, what's happened?" and those were her last words. Diana was rushed to the hospital. But they couldn't save her.
What's crazy is Diana actually predicted her death. She wrote a note that said "They're planning an accident in my car so that Charles can remarry." She thought that something was wrong wit the breaks, and wanted them to be checked, but they wouldn't let her. There is a theory that Charles and some other people planned it so that Charles could marry Camilla, because Charles was not allowed to remarry while Diana was still alive. Police investigated and found several clues, but they were silenced. There was a witness who saw the whole thing, but the police chief told him not to tell anyone what he saw that night.
Her death was so sad. May she rest in peace
