IV. The Bar
Kai is sitting in a bar with his friends, Klahan and Dom when a group of five young men enters it. This establishment is theirs, all 6 six of them, bought it from his previous owner, a kind old man.
It was shabby then but they like to hang out there. All pretenses are off, no need to put your guard up. When the old man wanted to retire, they bought it with a hefty sum. They put it back to life and now it becomes an 'it' place to hang out.
His lips automatically tilt with a smile when he sees Macau's face. Dressed in all black, that kid looks ... beautiful and sexy. Kai's eyes linger on the Mac's ass that perk up in the tight jeans he wears and it elongates his feet. Quite a few eyes in the bar are watching him, and Kai notices.
"Oh, that's my brother," Dom says. "Your boy too. But you know that already since you eyeing him the fucked out."
Klahan moves to get a better look at Kai's face. "Just grab him by the hair to the corner and fuck him for real already. Jesus, Kai. You're scaring me, man!"
Kai pays no mind. "Decha is friends with him?"
"Mh," Dom hums to agree. "Since late elementary, I think. They used to fight with each other a lot. Then be friends. Then fight again when they were in high school. It got really bad. But they solved it, I guess, seeing that," Dom points to the group.
"Oh, why?"
"Decha was being shit. Macau came out as a bi to him and he threw a fit, calling him names and shit. I think at that time, Macau had feelings for him. Maybe he confessed, that's why Decha went nuts."
Kai hums. He sees Decha flanging his arm around Macau's neck, both are laughing at something Macau says. He doesn't like that one bit. But from Macau's face, whatever feeling he has for Decha is long gone.
But, first thing first.
He calls the manager. "You see that kid over there, the one in all black?"
"Yes, Khun."
"Pace his drink. 15 minutes for the second, 30 for the next, 45, 60, and so on. If he orders something harder than whiskey, tell me."
The manager nods.
Both of his friends laugh. "What?" he shouts.
"Controlling little shit!" Klahan says. "I feel sorry for the kid."
"I'm not forbidding him to drink. I just want him to drink moderately or he'll become an alcoholic and that's my shit to clean."
"Mm hmm, ok. What label are you guys on now, really?" Klahan taunts. "You're not even his boyfriend."
"Yet," Kai adds.
"You don't even do relationships!" Dom tells.
"There is a first time for everything."
"Your first time is with a Theerapanyakul?" Klahan asks, shaking his head in disbelief.
"His family's name doesn't define him."
"Have you looked at that family history? Full of psychotic people, Kai."
"We are best friends with one."
"Yeah, his direct brother who, I can tell, will be glad to cut your balls if you mess with his brother!"
Kai closes his eyes for three seconds. "Why do people always assume I will mess him up?"
"Kai, look at your history!"
Kai doesn't say anything to refute that. Yeah, so he has a bad rep in romance. So what? As long as Mac doesn't object, they're fine. "Let's move closer."
"No, Kai. My brother won't like it," Dom tries to protest but Kai is already moving and sits in front of the group's table. The two follow while sighing.
When Macau sees him, Kai can see he is sighing and drinking his glass in a more sour mood. He just smiles at the boy. Macau gives him the middle finger. His friends look to who he directs it to, but when they see it's Kai, they all direct their stare to somewhere else.
"Cau, you crazy mother fucker! That's Khun Boss!" one of his friends says.
Macau just shrugs. He's been dealing with unhinged individuals all of his life. One Eakasit Chaimongkon doesn't scare him. That guy doesn't text or call after that thing in the bathroom and that was a week ago.
Decha brights up when he sees Dom. He goes to their table and shakes hands with all of them. "I can order anything, right?" he asks
"If you pay."
"Oh, please, Hia," he whines. "Cau is here."
One of Kai's brow arches. What's that supposed to mean?
"So? He's a Theerapanyakul, Dec. He's richer than all of you combined."
It looks like Macau hears it because he shouts, "I'll pay, Dec. Don't worry, I can even buy out this bar if I want to," with a cheerful smile. He doesn't take what Dom says to an offensive side. It just looks like a running joke to him.
But Kai knows better. Being a Theerapanyakul is not easy and Mac is taught to ignore many hurtful things since he can feel them, not to take them to heart and not to flaunt who he is. Vegas is like that too, although it doesn't work that well on him. But Mac's softer profile works just fine. Pretend is his armor.
The kids are talking about bikes and races now. "You still like bikes, right, Cau?" Decha asks. Macau nods. "Has your hia buy you one?"
"Nope," Macau says. "He's not too fond of me riding. Because riding means I have to be on my own without proper safety. But I still ride if I want. It's freeing."
"Maybe if you ride a scooter or something," another gives a suggestion. Macau's lips perform a giggle that sounds like a fairy's bell in Kai's ear.
Another drink arrives in front of Macau. "Oh, I don't order," he says, refusing the drink.
"That guy gives it for you, Khun," the waiter points to a guy in his mid-20s. He looks cool. Macau gives a polite way but still refuses. Mafia family rules 101, never accept drinks from a stranger.
His eyes meet Kai's after that. "What?" he mouthed. Kai gives him a dangerous smile. "Good boy," the older replies. Macau can feel a shiver run through his body.
Macau orders his second glass and wonders why his order isn't coming when his friends have them fast. The third one is even longer. Then his brain connects the whole thing and looks at Kai with sharp eyes. "You fucking asshole," he mouthed.
Now it's time for Kai to mouthed, "What?" There is not an ounce of guilt in him.
"Stop it!"
"Nope!"
Macau drinks his friend's glass just to show he can. Kai gives him a glare of warning, but Macau just walks away. He says to his friends, "Bathroom," passingly.
He is about to pull down the zipper when he sees Kai. He sighs. "You are a stalker at this rate, Khun Chaimongkon."
"What did I say about drinking?"
Macau rolls his eyes. "You said something, yes, but it doesn't mean I will hear you."
"Mac," warning is heard loud and clear in this one.
"Fine. Will you get off my back if I follow your stupid rule?" Macau zips up his jeans in annoyance.
"That means behind my back too." Kai steps closer and closer, eyes on those plump red lips.
"No guarantee."
"Fine. I accept that if you kiss me now."
Macau gives him that 'fuck off, satan' face.
Kai's hand grabs the back of Mac's head, gripping his hair. "Oh, come on, baby. Let me have the taste."
Macau's head tilts up. He doesn't want to admit but being hunted and manhandled like this is exhilarating. He doesn't give in easily, though. He makes Kai work hard for it.
Like right now, he is dodging Kai left and right. Only after the man corners him and presses him on the door that he 'surrender'.
A hard slap is heard and Macau feels a sharp pain on the side of his thigh. "You naughty boy!"
"I suppose you expect me to call you Daddy now?"
Kai raises his brow. "That's not a bad idea."
"Sorry, not into that."
"Too bad," Kai is making a face. "Who knows, you might enjoy laying over my thighs and getting spanks for your naughty behavior."
Macau closes his eyes. Stop visualizing that, Macau Theerapanyakul!
"I can see why you and my brother are friends," he replies as nonchalantly as he can.
Kai laughs. His lips are ghosting over Mac's. "We'll talk about it later. Now kiss me!"
Their lips meet in not a subtle way. This kiss is tilted to the wild side, with tongues instantly meeting and caressing each other. With teeth and inner mouth being licked. With breaths stolen and held. With hands grabbing hair and roaming bodies.
Their hips meet and Macau can feel that delicious friction, He keeps seeking it and Kai is more than happy to provide it.
But when Kai is about to lower the zipper, Macau refuses. "No, it will soil my clothes. I still have friends to meet. What is it with us and bathrooms?" he says with a shaky laugh. Kai is peppering his face with little kisses and bites.
They stay like that until things calm down. Kai is stealing another deep kiss just before they go out.
They mind their own business after that. It means Macau shares stories with his friends and Kai watches him do it. Macau pretends he doesn't notice, but once or twice their eyes meet.
When it's time to go home, Macau asks for the bill and the waiter quickly gives it to him. He stands up to take his wallet, but the bill is snatched from his hand.
"Who says I'll let you pay?" Kai says, giving his card instead. The waiter bows and leaves. Luckily, his friends are too tipsy to realize what's going on.
"Ooh," Macau teases, "Does that mean you're going to pay for all my expenses, Khun Chaimongkon?"
Kai steps closer. Their noses almost meet. "Mh," he hums in agreement.
"I don't know. I'm pretty high-maintenance. You see, my brother loves to spoil me," he still teases. He gives this cute sing-a-song tone that makes Kai smile.
There's a trace of food on the corner of Macau's lips. Kai gets rid of it with his fingers. "You're eating like a kid."
Macau leans to his touch. Kai opens his palm to support Mac's cheek. This kid is drunk. "Let's get you home, ok?" he says when the waiter comes back with his card. He intertwines their hands and walks away side by side.
"Mac, what's your favorite color?"
"Blue. The darker kinds, but definitely blue."
