Chapter 5
Spitelout
I knew that having a Night Fury as my nephew is kind of new and weird.
Gobber sees my expression as the Blacksmith asked, "Spitelout, are you ok? I know that it has been a year since Hiccup and Toothless became the heroes of Berk."
I still remember how my own son, Snoutlout stand up for Emily and Hiccup, and it make me felt worse of being the supportive father for him.
"I am still trying to get use to it, Gobber. It is still hard to believe that my own nephew, is the Dragon Prince this whole time and we didn't know about it!" I said, raising my hands up in the air.
"Hey, come on, Spitelout. Hic didn't know about it either. Besides, the poor lad had been through so much since then. He's sixteen. I'm sure that he will figure out of how to use his powers in time." Gobber advise me.
As I was about to reply to the Blacksmith, I saw Camicazi and Ruffnut coming into the village.
I asked, "Where are the others? Are they ok?"
Camicazi and Ruffnut exchanged looks at one other to see who would tell me what happened.
"Oh, they're fine, Spitelout. We just saw Hic and he wants Berk to be ready for Drago's arrival." Ruffnut said.
I said, curiously, "You sure that is what he said? Is there something else I should know about?"
Both girls gulped and said in unison quickly, "No, that's pretty much it."
Hiccup
As I looked around the Sanctuary, it is still unbelievable that my mom spent sixteen years living here and protecting Dragons.
"Hic?" I heard someone ask and I turned to see it was no other than Astrid.
"Oh, hey, Astrid. What is wrong?" I asked the young Viking with a curious look.
"Oh, I was wondering of how you doing, considering that you are not just the Dragon Prince, but finding out your mother is alive, is way over the top."
I shrug, "Honestly, I was surprised. I never thought of meeting her sixteen years later. It felt like when I first discovered I was the Dragon Prince."
She looks at the scar I gave her when she discovered my alias as the Dragon Prince and almost killed her.
"I still had nightmares about day, Astrid. Seeing that mark... reminds me of who I was."
"Hiccup... I already forgive you. It was actually dumb of me of learning your secret that way. I was curious and not thinking of the dangerous consequences.
Mom said, "All right, time to talk, Hiccup. What happened to you sixteen years ago and what you and the other Riders talking about you being a Dragon Prince?"
I sighed, "I knew that you would ask. It felt just like yesterday.
Ok, you know that Berk was a killing dragon village. Most of the dragons were under control of the evil Dragon Queen.
The Dragons had to obey her orders to survive. But there was a legend that they believe who would end her reign.
Her archenemies. The Dragon Prince. The person who has the inhabit of a Night Fury."
"Which meant... you?" Mom asks, as I nod as I reveal the Dragon Prince tattoo on my shoulder.
"The Dragon Prince also protects the Viking and Dragon world. It's my responsibility. I um... well killed Toothless."
She gaps in a shock expression. "You didn't."
"I did, when I did, I first shifted, I kind of went on a rampage and kind of almost destroyed the village to pieces.
I didn't remembered I did attack the village, but when I realize that Toothless was inside me, I really don't know what to do.
That's when I met Emily, who is a Nadder. She was the one who helped me through the whole process of handling my powers. She is a great friend.
Also before I even became the Dragon Prince, I was mean to the villagers including the teens."
Mom looks at me with amazement in her eyes. I knew that hearing the story seems too good to be true, like it is something I've made up.
I said, "There were some moments that I'm not entirely proud of when I had the Dragon Prince powers.
I lost control of my emotions, and I let my talons got out of control, killing a woman who tried to murder an innocent child.
The other was... when Astrid got hurt, when I revealed my shift into Toothless and left her.." I barely finished the sentence, mostly remembering that terrifying night.
"Hiccup, it's all right." I turned to see Toothless who was giving me a smile to cheer me up.
"Dad was so desperate to end the raids that he literally put himself and Berk in danger.
Luckily that we saved the day. Adrien, the God of Life gave Toothless his own body, the body that I killed. And here we are now, a year later."
Mom sat near a rock to settle her nerves. I really don't blame her.
It was a lot to take it all in.
"Mom.. you all right?" I asked her, curiously.
She replied, "Just overwhelmed. I never ..."
"Don't worry, Stoick and everyone back home still can't believe it either." Astrid said, trying to cheer the Dragon Vigilante up.
I said, "Astrid, that really doesn't help out much."
She rubs her head slightly.
"So, what you and the Riders mean that Berk is in mortal danger that you inquire my help?" Mom asks.
Astrid and I exchanged glances nervously about how we break the news that Camicazi had told us about Drago.
Stoick
I returned home with Thorando, my newest dragon that Hiccup thought was best friend and dragon to be paired up with.
Astrid was generous enough to teach me how to speak Dragonese so I can communicate with him.
The Dragon seems to relax after we returned from a Chief Counsel meeting.
He said, "Man, Stoick, I had no idea that you being Chief can be so hard. I wonder if Hiccup can handle that responsibility."
I shook my head of the young Dragon's curiosity.
"Thorando, Hiccup has his own duties as the Dragon Prince. It requires a bigger responsibility than being Chief.
I wouldn't like to be in my son's shoes if I was in his place. Trying to maintain the balance of both Dragon and Viking world from falling into chaos."
The Dragon sighs, as if trying to get his point was kind of hopeless.
I saw my brother who was shocked of our return so quickly.
"S-Stoick! Thorando, I didn't realize that you would arrived back from your meeting earlier than I thought." Spitelout stutter nervously.
I looked at my brother with curious expression on my face. Why was he so nervous about? Was it something had to do with my son?
"Spitelout, where is Hiccup and the other Riders? Did something happen while I was gone?"
He said, "No, nothing is wrong, brother. I'm positive that Hiccup will be absolutely fine. I mean, there is nothing to be concerned about. He has Toothless after all."
I sigh, knowing Hiccup, things are not always as they seem.
When I learnt that Hiccup was the Legendary Dragon Prince, it blew my mind and got me so much worry about all the new dangers that he and the other Riders are going through.
"Spitelout, you're really bad at lying to me. Hiccup is in trouble again, isn't he?" I ask again.
He winces in panic, that knowing I was unto him.
He quickly runs from Thorando and me.
Thorando and I exchanged glances at each other.
"That was pretty weird, don't you think, Stoick?" The Thunderdum asks me with curious eyes.
I nodded at my dragon, "I think we should look for Hiccup and the other Riders as soon as possible.
Perhaps they need our help against Drago and they need all the help they can get."
So without hesitance, I climbed into my saddle and we flew out to find the Dragon Prince.
