Chapter 4
Hiccup
I couldn't believe my eyes. The woman I had met, is my own mother?
She quickly runs towards her cavern, and I tried to catch up to her, along with Toothless following me.
He was in total shock as I was when she told me who she was.
I said, panting, "Wait! Can you please slow down a minute? It's kind of hard to catch up with you when you have a metal leg!"
She said, "You must see this! Up here quickly."
Toothless looks at me and ask, "Do you really trust her? What if she would be an enemy to Drago and threat Berk alongside him?"
I look at my best friend and ask, "Toothless, com'on. I had learn over the past year that everyone deserve a second chance. She could-"
As we approach the landscape of the cavern, Toothless and I were in total amazement of what we saw.
Wild dragons flying in total peace, which is kind of what Berk is now.
Toothless and I explored through the cavern, as I hear little hatchlings run playfully.
"You can't catch me!" one of the Hatchlings laugh.
I chuckled as I see my own Mother was with her own dragon, looking at us.
"This is unbelievable." I said, smiling, but I know that being the Dragon Prince, it is my responsibility to keep the peace between the human world and Dragon world.
Mom sees my expression. "Hiccup, what is it?"
I said, "Oh... it's something on my mind, that's all. You lived here in this cavern with these wild Dragons? How come you never came back home, to Berk?"
"Berk is a killing place, Hiccup. Ever since you were born, it was either killed or be killed. I was actually trying to convince Spitelout and Stoick that they're not dangerous, but either one would listen to a word I say."
I chuckled, "Hm, that is somewhat to believe."
Her expression changes as she continues the story, "One fateful night, a Dragon broke into our house, and finding you in the cradle. It surprised me that he didn't actual hurt you. It made proof of what I saw and believed in.
Startled by my appearance, he saw me and we gazed into each other's eyes. But he took me out of Berk, leaving you and Stoick behind.
It broke my heart to not ever see you again, but it was for the best thing I want for you."
I said, "It took me a long time to get use to everyone since you left, but now things are different, for all of us."
Mom looks complete confusion, not understanding of what I had mean by my words.
The Dragons bow down in respect to me. "Oh, it is the Dragon Prince. The legend is true."
"Oh, guys, you really don't have to bow. And I'm still trying to get use of the Dragon Prince Powers. Just call me, "Hiccup." I said sheepishly.
Valka
Seeing Hiccup again after all these years is so unbelievable. But something must've happened to my son.
The wild Dragons seemed to be more surprised to see him, as if he was someone important.
Hiccup gazes out of the cavern, as if knowing that Berk is in terrible danger.
"Hiccup, what is it?" I asked the young Viking. The Viking sighed, as he said, "Berk is in trouble, in major trouble, Mom."
Cloudjumper and I looked at each other in total confusion of the boy's words.
"Son, I don't fully understand why you are concerned about home. It's a dangerous village."
Toothless and Hiccup seems to be laughing. "It's not like that, anymore. Berk has changed, it's not even the same place as you remembered."
As I was thinking, something happened in my son's hand. "Uh, Hiccup, look at your hand."
The boy's eyes look at the direction I was looking at, and his hand has some similar fire to a Night Fury's Plasma blast.
"Whoa. I never done this before. Hm." Hiccup said, looking around. Toothless nudges him to throw it across the ravine.
Hiccup looks at his Dragon and it seems like he was having a conversation?
Hiccup sighs as he threw the blast across the ravine as it dimmers away.
"Amazing." Hic said, but he seems to be distorted from it, as if contained some of his energy.
"Hiccup!" I cried in fear for my son, but the wild dragons seemed to take care of the boy and helped him recover his strength.
Hiccup seems to be embarrassed about the situation.
"I think about going flying around the Cavern a while. Is that all right?"
"Hiccup, you need to explain what just happen, why did your hand caught on fire?"
"Oh, right, well, it's something that happen during the past year. All dragons know it by now.
He suddenly transforms from a boy to a Night Fury in front of my eyes!
I back away from him, as if he was going to attack me. I never seen it like before.
Cloudjumper
Valka seems to be frightened by her son's appearance. I decided to check what's going on.
I sniffed his scent and Hiccup said, "You don't have to be afraid of me. Besides I was scared at first of beating the Dragon Queen."
My eyes widen, "Wait, the Dragon Queen? You can't be-"
Toothless beams with pride with being on the brown Night Fury's side, "The Dragon Prince that been foretold in the legend? Indeed he is.
It was the only way to defeat her is help from him. You see, I was dead. But I inhabit Hiccup's mortal body and he was the Dragon Prince all along."
I was stunned but I asked, "But I don't understand. You said you were dead and inhabited Hiccup's body, how you both be here?"
Toothless said, "That answer is kind of confusing. Just drop that subject."
Hiccup said, "As the Dragon Prince, it's kind of my duty to maintain the balance of both Dragon and Viking world. We are in deep trouble. A new threat had risen and we can use the help."
I said, "What about your mother? She should know about you being the Dragon Prince. Seeing you with transforming into a Night Fury and seeing one of your Powers is overwhelming and it seems to be frightened."
Hiccup said, "Oh, I see."
The sixteen year old boy looks at his long-lost mother, still stunned of his appearance of the Night Fury form.
Toothless said, "Uh, Hic, what you thinking right now?"
The boy replied, "Well, I think Mom should help us with Drago attacking Berk. It would even the-"
"So, you're the Dragon Prince." A loud voice boomed through the cavern, and I knew who it was.
It was the white Alpha, the King of all Dragons.
Hiccup was quite amazed of the creature as Toothless and the others bow down to him in respect.
"Hiccup, show some respect!" Toothless whispered.
Hiccup bows quickly, "You are the King of all Dragons, aren't you? I sense it. How it is an honor to meet the ruler of my kin."
The Alpha smiled, "The honor is all mine, Dragon Prince."
Hiccup transforms into his Night Fury self as he flew across the Cavern.
"So, what's with the Dragon Prince? He seems..."
"Young than what you imagined, Cloudjumper? He's sixteen!" Toothless points out.
"Being the Dragon Prince wasn't easy when I first met him.
He was different , but this one is different in a good way."
I saw that something else that is bothering the young Dragon Prince. Something that I only see in my eyes.
Toothless looks at me with curious eyes.
"Cloudjumper, is there something I should be concerned about?"
I shook my head at the black Night Fury, "No, nothing is wrong, Toothless. It has been a strange day for all of us. We never suspect to meet the Dragon Prince so soon, and aside the fact that he is related to Valka."
Valka
I am in total shock that my son is a Night Fury! H-How is this possible? The other Dragons seems to praise the young sixteen year old.
It breaks my heart that I never was part of his life growing up, and I guess it was my fault.
As the brown Night Fury lands, he transforms into his human self and sigh in relief as if flying really helped him settle his nerves.
"I guess that flying really what I've needed with everything is going on." Hiccup said, grinning.
The boy looks at me, curiously as knowing seeing him transform was quite unusual and shocking to me.
"Mom, are you ok? I know that it has been weird for you, seeing me as a Night Fury.
You have the same reaction as Dad was when he first saw me shift. He was quite concerned bout it, but I got it down with the help of Emily."
I said, "Son, I have so many questions, I don't know where to begin."
Hiccup sighs, "I know you have so many questions.
But we can discuss it as we figure out how to defend Berk."
I was confused. What did he mean by that?
Suddenly, Hiccup stops and sense something.
"What is it, Son?" I asked the sixteen year old.
A roar was heard as a light-blue Nadder came inside with unknown strangers.
I raised my spear in defense, trying to protect the dragons, but Hiccup and Toothless ran towards them as they were in total surprised to see them in the Sanctuary.
"Astrid, w-What you and the other Riders doing here? Should Stoick be really irate that you sneaked off without him noticing?"
The girl, Astrid, seemed be blushing at the sixteen year old, "Well, Stoick hasn't really figure it out that we kind of sneaked out of Berk. Don't worry, your Uncle Spitelout would not spill on that we left home."
Hiccup said, "Well, that seems comforting... I think. Wait, you were looking for me and Toothless?"
The other girl replied, "Yeah, and Snoutlout filled me in with your role of being the Dragon Prince."
Snoutlout seems to be embarrassed of the situation as Hiccup seems to chuckle under his breath.
I was in total confusion, what is the Dragon Prince, and what that mean for my son?
The other Riders seemed to be in awe of the Sanctuary around them.
"Amazing place, Hiccup. Is this place belong to you?" A girl asks, with two braids in her shoulders.
"No, Ruffnut, it is not mine, but it belongs to her." He replies, gesturing me to come forth, along with Cloudjumper.
Hiccup
I knew that if anyone can help us with defeating Drago and save Berk from chaos, it would be my mother.
Bringing her into this situation would be a good idea, hopefully that Camicazi and the other Riders wouldn't be too surprise of meeting my long-lost mother that was missing for sixteen years.
Emily asks, "Hic, who are they? I never seen them before."
I chuckled, "That is why I brought them to meet all of you. You already met my father, right? Well, meet Cloudjumper and my mother, Valka Haddock."
Emily's eyes were widen as she looks on the similarities between me and my mother.
"What's with Emily? It looks like she was spooked about something." Ruffnut asks.
I said, "Guys, this is the person who kind of kidnapped me on my flight alone with Toothless.
This is my long- lost mother, Valka Haddock."
The whole room was silent, trying to grasp of what I've just said.
Only Snoutlout came towards her and with a surprise shock, he embraces the woman with tears flowing in his cheeks.
My mum was shock but then comfort my cousin. "It's all right, nephew. I'm really alive."
"But Aunt Valka, why didn't you-" He began to ask, but I gave him a silent comment to not ask. He notices my expression right away and drops the subject.
"I know it's quite a shock to see my mother, but we have a mission on hand." I said, with a serious look.
Astrid shook her head, and then said, "Totally right. Camicazi, Ruff, I want you guys to head back to Berk and find Stoick and the other Vikings. We will stay until we figure things out."
Both girls nodded with a salute as they went back to Berk.
Toothless said, "I like that Astrid is in charge when we are around. It was a good choice of making her second- in- command."
I rubbed my head at the black Night Fury, "Thanks, bud."
Mom still looks confused and I knew that I had to tell her about I've done since she disappeared with Cloudjumper.
"Mom... I think it's time you know the truth." I said to the Viking Dragon lady.
