Chapter 11
"Y- You wish!" Elizabeth said, stuttering. Just as she stepped out, he called out to her. "Do visit me sometime. You know where I live!," He said said he winked. "Goodbye" Elizabeth rolled her eyes as the carriage left her. She continued forward until she arrived at a drain sewer cover. She looked carefully around. No one was looking. She grunted in pain as she tugged the drain cover off.
She climbed down and slid the drain cover back on, then continued downward on the metal ladder. The sewer they all lived in was one of the many ones city **%^$ had. This one was empty of sewage. Elizabeth took a few turns. The layout was familiar and she could confidently say she wouldn't get lost in this sewer. She finally arrived at the base hideout.
Everyone was currently asleep, save for the professor and Aiden. The professor got up from the couch when he heard Elizabeth come in. He gasped in surprise at her beaten up look. "Are you ok?!" he asked, worried. Elizabeth winced. "Not really" "I was weak and I let my guard down" "The mission went wrong when I was done" " After I was done with poisoning Ogre, I didn't anticipate the gang members coming back and surrounding me"
"They shot many bullets at me in an attempt to kill me" She bowed. "Sorry for almost failing the mission" The professor sighed. "It's ok" "It's not really your fault" Elizabeth tried to protest, but the professor held out a finger to shush her. "But if you truly think you're guilty and want to atone for this then simply get stronger, don't beat yourself up too much!"
The professor ran a hand through his gray hair, looking frustrated. "I swear you and Lavender are giving me a headache!" "Lavender had a similar situation like you" "She thought she was useless. I gave her a talk and eased her fears. Both of you don't need to feel this way.
"Understood," Elizabeth said, bowing again. "Good. Aiden is in the medic room, he'll treat you! I swear, it's like I'm your dad or something!" Both of them were silent, because that was exactly the case. "Well, off you go!" he said, waving her away. The professor plopped back down on the couch, feeling like ten years was sapped off his life. "Children," he muttered.
