From The Beginning

AN:this is my fanfic so I do some of it my way
A young lad barely even four, a temple slave with no name, brought a dipper of water to his ailing mother. They both knew that she would not survive the night but he would not let her be hurting when she did pass. A man had sat outside of their very small shack, wearing white robes and looking like the head of all the priests. The child had a red toga held together by a clasp that proclamed he was under the protection of the goddesses Athena and Hestia. The man realized that this was the boy Lady Athena had sent all the saints out to find. He was the son of Hestia, protected by Athena.
The man wondered why the boy had a collar but did not ask.
"Child, do you have water to spare?" Another man stated as he sat halfway into the boy's shelter. The boy bowed his head and gave to the stranger the water he wanted to bring to his thirsty mother. The man found himself asking for some also, almost against his will. That was when the leader of Sanctuary realized that the gods were testing this boy. The boy was swift to get the two men as much water as they needed until their thirst was satisfied. The boy then ran to get his dying mother some of the water. A short distance to the river, a man beat the boy for being in his way, breaking the dipper so that it now only carried a fourth of what it used to. Bloody, bruised, but thankful for the dipper still being able to be useable, he scooped one more dipper full and slowly made his way back to the home. The men ignored him for a few minutes as he poured the water slowly into his mother's mouth. When he went to retrieve more water, the strange traveler asked for food. The boy knew that they only had two small loafs. He didn't hesitate to give both rolls to the men, bowing deeply as a slave would. He went to pick up the dipper but it was gone just as the stars started to light the sky. He was too weak to walk back to the river though. The stranger had prepared a place next to himself for the child to sleep on.
"Young child, dedicated to Hestia and Athena, come here. Let me show you a new pattern in the stars that was not there moments ago." The man had to lift the child into his lap and point it out to him. "This is called the Big Dipper for your selfless acts of kindness to people that could have hurt you. There is a second dipper in the sky for those who need hope and seek love. You endured a beating just to bring your mother a little bit of water. There are still some more years before Athena will call upon you." Siphylis passed out from starvation and dehydration before his mother died. The stranger placed him on the place he had prepared before placing the humble mother, who took in a child not of her blood and trained him to be faithful, on a funeral pyre. He placed two gold coins on her eyes before he used a godly flame to incinerate her body properly. The man took his disguise off to reveal Hermes. The mortal man bowed, shocked that he had shared a meal with a god.
"You will take this child to the temple southeast of Sanctuary, where he will wait for four more years until he becomes a Golden Saint." The god disappeared, leaving the man to follow his directions. Athena would forgive the mortal.
The boy grew in the temple. He was beaten, chained, starved, and forgot what a gentle touch felt like. He was exceptionally good with a bow and could ride horses better than anyone else in the small city state. He would often have to go without garments that others could be clothed. He was out in the field hunting for the temple when a Pegasus landed near him and urged him onto its back. He rode the pegagus to the temple where a group of robbers sought to kill all that lived there. From the pegasus's back, he fired his arrows, enhanced with cosmo so pure and strong and he did not miss. He was about three days away from what was believed as his eighth birthday. A new Zodiac sign appeared. It was named Sagittarius. The priests of the temple he lived in were furious.
