Chasing. Running. And endless cycle of love and betrayal. Fleeing.
A cycle can only go for so long until a part of it breaks.
A woman with a smoky halo taking out the trash.
A bearded man playing fetch with the dog.
A single mother giving her child a plaything.
Twins fighting over a toy.
Reckless teens playing ball.
The countless returns, with only a small book to keep track.
A perfect family of five selling the smallest to a man in black.
The sound of an alarm blasted me awake.
"Yaaa!"
The surprise made me fall out of the bed I was in. I laid on the floor, my makeshift blanket tying up my legs.
Least this is better than waking up in a slobbery dogbed. Or a soiled baby crib for that matter.
I sat up, and began to work on my captor.
Once thrown against the bed, the blanket no longer bothered me.
Until I realized I was missing a slipper.
Stupid thing. Don't even need it, this house is warm enough during the night.
I dug through the black and blue bundle to find my footwear. During the process I noticed another thing I was missing.
My owner notebook.
Crap!
I tore through the blanket and under the bed. I threw open the drawers. In my rapid search I didn't notice that the other bed was empty already.
I didn't find it in any of the drawers or furniture on my side. So, I went over to the other side.
Cross.
If you took my notebook, I will personally END YOU!
I threw the already torn piece of fabric against his drawer before tearing through the empty compartments.
Nada.
I stood still for a moment, listening to the others heading down the little stairs. I noticed that I was in pjs.
Maybe the human knows where it is. And I better head down with the others.
Heading out of my room and onto the carpet, I followed the others down the hallway. Most of them lined up down the slide. It was quite entertaining actually: Watching three Bitties trying to hold on to the other 10 as they themselves got situated. A few times they nearly slipped, and Wild had a hard time holding 12 Bitties in place.
The human had just dashed into the bathroom.
I know how well it's going to be down at the bottom, and it looks like the Horror Bros know it as well.
I spied Error already on the human's right shoulder.
Now I wonder.
I called over to the Horror Sans just as she went out of earshot.
"Hey, mind helping me with something?"
"What is it?"
"Well, do you like pranks? Mainly jumpscares?"
"How'd you guess 😏?"
"Lucky question, anyway-"
I whispered the plan to him, and I couldn't help but notice the evil grin he had at the end.
"Ok, let's do it."
I walked up behind the human as she was still digging through the medicine cabinet. Using two of my back tentacles, I made my way up the cupboard, to the sink, and onto the shoulder.
The Sans climbed up the stairs to where I could catch him with a third black mass. Lowering third said mass, he jumped for it.
Everything after that went without a hitch. We successfully scared Jana, making her jump almost two of the regular stairs. My partner got a little bop with a bottle after it however, but it was a friendly bop.
She carried us down to the kitchen and set us on the counter. Coming down I had to chuckle at the giant pile of 13 jumbled skellies. They quickly got themselves oriented and were soon at the counter.
Jana turned around, and began to work on breakfast. Or finish working on it. Papyrus and Blue eagerly passed out the small plates from I don't know where. The void sounds 'bout right though. Right there I noticed that Cross was sitting by the sink, shivering.
So that's where he was.
Jana quickly chopped and served the mini burritos and went to Cross. She wrapped a blanket around him, and had him drink some dark liquid. Cross's face scrunched up when he drank it, and immediately started eating his burrito. Must've tasted bad.
Least this one is more dedicated. But. Better not get my hopes up.
Miss Jana, what's wrong with Cross?" Said the skeleton that just so happened to be to my left.
"Oh, he's got a fever. I gave him some medicine. Now all he needs is rest and water, and depending on how bad it is he should be better tomorrow." Jana replied.
A fever can't go away that fast, unless that stuff was strong.
"Maybe I can help a little, keep him company at least." A certain skeleton in teal and gold pjs spoke.
"Ok, are you done eating then?"
"Not quite, But I'll come up after I'm finished."
Good, one less Bitty to deal with for the day.
Jana nodded, picked up and cradled Cross in her hand. I noticed he was snoozing.
How strong is that stuff to knock him out already? Though then again, probably an overdose.
Jana left the kitchen, leaving us to finish or get seconds. I saw the Papyruses and about half of the Sanses go up for more. That Farmer skeleton and Dream stayed, along with the Ink-splotched one.
It's only a matter of time till that Ink finds the printer and art supplies. If I get a chance I'll have to see if I can lead him to it- if I can find that paper eating machine.
I watched as the Farmer struggled to turn on the tap to get a glass of water for Dream. It was somewhat amusing. My moment of comedy ended when the glass was successfully delivered to Dream.
Thanking the Farm boy, that crown wearing moron made his way across the kitchen and up the stairs.
I really should give them a chance. But chances are; I'll go back to a shelter before the week's up.
A flash of lightning lit up the house, and Farmer ran to the big windows in the living room.
Three down- only; 14 to go.
The human came down the stairs just as the others were finishing up.
"Are ya'll done?"
The remaining called out yes, along with compliments for breakfast.
Everyone else began to put away their dishes, and Boss was (surprisingly) nice enough to take my plate for me.
Jana began putting the mix into a Ziplock and setting the dishes in the washer. Afterward, "Do you guys want to run up and get dressed? Be quite tho since Cross is probably snoozing."
The 14 responders went down to the floor and up the stairs to the Bitty mansion.
I stayed, and watched as the human put everything away.
"Hey Jana?"
"Hmm, Ya Nightmare?"
"Have you, uh, seen a small notebook anywhere?"
Jana her back to me, looking through the cupboards for something.
"Small notebook. (Clicks tongue) Hmph, where did I- Oh! I think I know where it is."
She stopped her search, and went to a room in the hallway.
Thank God, she knows about it. Wait. She knows about it, so did she look through it? Did she see all the past things I've done. That stove fire was just for laughs, I didn't expect the fire department to dash over.
Jana came back, with a small brown and black notebook in her palm.
"You guys have stuff so itty bitty small I almost need tweezers and a microscope to see. Almost."
She laughed as she presented my book to me. I quickly grabbed it and held my only belonging close.
"Before the others come down, might I ask- what do you write in there?"
"Oh, well, I Uh. I uh. Umm-"
"It's alright if you don't wanna tell, you need to have at least one thing that's yours."
Jana motioned her hand for me to get on.
"You better hide that if you don't want anyone else to find it."
We went up the stairs to the upper hallway. Before we went into the bedroom, Jana hung a right into the wall. Bending down and using her other hand, Jana pointed out a small crack.
I got off onto the carpet to investigate.
In a whisper,"pull."
I felt around the crack, and found a small lever. Pulling it, the crack turned out to be a compartment. It was big enough to house a standing Bitty.
"Least while the others are still in the little house."
I, reluctantly, put my notebook inside and closed it.
He, like her style. Lots of little hidden cubbies to stash a few bucks. Still happy she showed me this. Now let's see, it's the third crack to the right of the power outlet.
I hopped back on Jana's hand, and she took me to the room I slept in.
Cross was laying in bed, out cold, while Dream played some game. Looking at it, the graphics were pretty good. For some reason Dream had his character punch a rock when he clearly had a pickaxe in his hotbar.
Oh well.
I went over to my little dresser (that I failed to reorganize), and got dressed.
"Any idea what the plan is today?" Dream whispered.
"Um nope. But I guess nothing outside." I pointed to the rain covered window despite me knowing he won't see it.
"Ok. Well, hope Jana does plans something fun then."
"Maybe. We'll see."
I made my way to the ground floor of the bedroom. The others were already on the slide downstairs, and they were careful about cheering too loud. They didn't attempt a big slide like before, but instead went in small groups of five. Sans, Egdy, (reluctant) Error, HorrorSans and Blue were one said group. The next one behind was Pap, Boss, Carrot, HorrorPap and Ink. That left me with Wild, Geno, and the Outer Bros.
"Nope, don't even think about it."
"Come'on! It's fun!"
"I refuse."
"You can be in the front if you want"
"I'll take the stairs."
"Your such a worrywart."
"H-hey! Let go!"
"Here we GOOOO!
"NO-AAAAAAH!"
*oof*
I don't know how, but I went from standing on carpet to laying underneath four Bitties on a pillow.
"Wasn't that fun?"
"Mph, neo. Can you please get off me?"
"I know you at least liked it the way you were smiling on the way down."
"I wasn't smiling, I was screaming really quietly."
"Uh-hu. Sure you were."
Jana was already downstairs getting some rain clothes ready by the front door.
J: Do any of you want to visit the greenhouse?
OS: What's That?
J: It's a house that's basically a home for plants so they don't die in winter.
OP: I think I'm good if your good brother.
OS: I'm good to stay inside.
OP: Ok!
J: What about you three?
G: I'll wouldn't mind heading out to see it.
Pap: What are we going out to see?
Egdy: Ya? What?
J: A greenhouse. (Calls out to kitchen) Any Of You Want To See The Greenhouse?
Blue: I am ready to see anything your offering to show.
Pap: Nyeh-hehe! I will come too!
Egdy: Wouldn't hurt to go see.
HP: I-I would like to go.
J: Alright. Anyone else? I already asked Dream if he- I haven't asked the Farmer Bitty yet! I'm sure he'll love it! You five that are going go ahead and wait by the front door.
Jana dashed off to look for Farm boy, and leaving the chosen Five to head towards the door.
I figured that they were set, so I began to explore a little. The first thing I wanted to look at was the hallway where Jana got my notebook.
Which room did she get it from?
There were a few rooms on both sides of the hallway. The first door on the right was open but all I saw inside was a hammock, a stand, a lamp, and a blanket. Nothing too much of interest in the small room besides the folded and intact cardboard boxes.
The one directly across was open a crack. Heading over, I found two stacks of silver machines. I'm guessing that they were washers and dryers based on the laundry hamper in the corner. There's what looked like a sink in the counter, but I didn't investigate further.
I reentered the carpet hallway and went to the next set of doors. The left one was closed, and the handle was one of those round ones. The right one was open, and I stepped on the wooden floor.
Inside this room was a large bookshelf crammed full of them. Next to it was a computer and a printer.
Ah-ha! Yes! Wait until Ink finds this!
Directly underneath the computer was a place for the swivel chair, with drawers on either side.
Using the shelving, I made my way up to the counter. The computer was pretty nice, looked new despite the thin layer of dust on the screen. I moved the mouse around a little, seeing if it would wake up.
When the screen didn't light up, I lifted the white controller to see if the light was on.
It must need some new batteries if it isn't connected to the keypad or the computer.
I heard something fall behind and scitter away from me.
Turning, I found a terrarium sitting on a table. Underneath were two totes poked with little holes. Even from here I could here some chirping sounds.
Wonder if she has a bird in there?
Cautiously, I made my way down and across the floor before climbing to the terrarium. I pushed the door open a bit more.
Crawling in, I landed on a tan carpet. There were three weird rocks and two lights present. Two rocks were underneath the two lights, while the other sat in a corner like an outcast. One light I could safely look at for a few seconds, while the other was hot enough for me to feel a foot below.
Beneath the outcast rock, there was a grey dish that held some water along with a second, smaller dish filled with air and some dried leaves.
The door to the terrarium closed, and a click basically yelled that I was locked in.
Oh no. Oh nonononononononono.
I went over and pounded on the glass, hoping the door would unlatch.
It didn't, so I did the next best thing. I took a deep breath, and.
"HEEEEEEEELLLP!"
My cry went unanswered as I heard screams from the living room and kitchen.
"AAH!"
"WHAT IS THAT THING!"
"It ATE the bone. It freakin DEVORED the BONE!"
"RUN!"
"DRAAAAAAGOOOOOON!!"
From where I was, I heard stuff getting knocked over onto the ground. More yells, and more terror.
I pushed harder and harder on the door without avail.
The others screams were getting closer as they entered the hallway.
"Over Here! Second door on the right!"
I spotted 6 skeletons run by. By chance Error and Ink dashed into the room I was in.
"Hey! Let me out!"
"Nightmare? How'd you get in there?"
"The door closed and locked on me after something opened it. I think that 'something' is chasing the others right now."
"You better believe it."
Error and Ink teleported up to the table. From there they began to push on what must've been the lock. A click sounded and I pushed the door again, successful this time.
"Come'on! We got to help the others!"
Me and Error nodded in agreement, and we raced off down the hallway.
We saw the others in a room full of mismatch. There was a guitar in one corner, a desk with drawing supplies in another. On the paper were the Outertale Bros in the process of drawing something. From here I couldn't see what it was. The Sans spotted us and waved.
"Hey you three, do you know what the others are screaming about?"
I shook my head while Error answered,
"Yes. It's a big spiky lizard that's hungry, and it's eating everything it sees. Mainly, it's trying to eat us."
The third corner had a little tree under invasion.
From the branches I could make out the remaining five.
Sans was happily snuggled in a crook of a branch.
Boss did not look happy to have to hide like a chicken.
Wild was busy surveying the room, since he didn't have much else to do.
HSans looked terrified for being up high, but he hid his expression well. At least, before going to try and spook Sans.
Carrot, like Sans, was sitting in a forked branch, watching the area behind us.
He called down," You better start climbing!"
Ink and Error got the message but I, having watched the cliche horror movies, froze and looked behind me.
The creature was huge. Standing side by side, it would be nearly a skull taller than me. And length wise. If it stood on its tail it would be three times my height. Anyway, the color was tan with streaks of orange and white across its back. It also had some orange marking it's brown eyes. Underneath the mouth was a decent sized patch of folding, spiked skin. It's hands had long, sharp looking claws that grabbed the carpet in the hallway.
Tilting its right eye towards me, it's licked it's jaw.
Oh no.
It charged at me while I ran for the safety of the tree. Using my tentacles I quickly ascended to the leafy top. I looked down just as it entered the room.
And if I'm honest- I had to laugh.
The creature came speeding down the hallway, moving faster than most of us can run. It entered the room and landed on the hardwood floor. Losing all of its traction, it slid to a stop.
And this was only part one.
Licking the floor once, it started to run again. Everything sliding away from under it, all it managed to do was move a few inches.
Ah- hahahaha! That's why you don't try to swim on land! You stupid, hehe, stupid lizard.
(AN: It is actually fun to see a beardie run from carpet to hardwood back to carpet. Plus only on hardwood can I catch my Cola.)
Part three is done! Unfortunately this day will have to be a 4 parter.
Watch, I say that and it ends up being a 6 parter. Anyway, I still have the Horror Bros left, dinner, and the inconvenient notification for the next day.
Sooo, you finished reading this section. Congrats! With fall coming up I won't be able to write as muc-
C: Tell them about the conversations, OCs, and story idea book!
R: NO! Let me finish my Author's note!
K: Then you left us no other choice.
(Dramatic lights and fanfare)
*here we go again -_-*
K: To protect the world from boring explanations.
C: To unite all writers within our nation.
K:To announce the evils of caffeine and drugs.
C:To extend our reach to the skies above.
K: Kira.
C: Carter.
K:Team Lystre blasting off at the speed of light.
C:Imagine now, and prepare to write.
R: Hey! That's right! Wait- what?! I do not approve of one of your Team Rocket rip-off lines!
C: Hmm, your right. We need a better Team name.
R: . . (Facepalm)
Anyway, writing will slow until Winter, (Like it hasn't already?). And as Mr. 'C' mentioned before, I have started a book of my own OC's, along with mental debates.
C: I have a name you know!
K: She's going loony folks.
R; Quiet.
So if there's a certain debate that you want to read, comment it on the book itself. Cause it'll get too difficult to sort the two apart. I don't know how to link the story here, but I have it up on my profile. And looking at tags won't help you, currently all I got for that is OCs, Randomness, and maybe Ramblings. The title- My OCs and why-.
C: That's it?
R: Yep.
C: . . . Why?
R: Becuase my AN's are getting longer and more boring.
C: That doesn't answer my question.
K: You almost forgot your Dragon-pedia!
R: That will come up as I work on the sections and the story they address. But I will show you guys Skrillius
I drew this freehand, and this note is done.
