A day inside (part 2)
Farmer Sans POV:
Jana had just gone up the stairs with that sick fellow, and now Dream was hurryin to finish. I was already done, so,"Dream, I can get cha a glass of water to take up there."
In between a bite,"Yep, Thanks."
I walked over the counter to the faucet. Managing to open one of the drawers next to it, I was lucky enough to find a glass our size. I couldn't close the drawer, but it wasn't out too far. Heading over to the faucet, I looked at the handles. Correction, handle. It was just one connected directly to the faucet, and the lever was as close as it could get to the tube.
Slowly, I pulled it back till there was a small stream of water coming down. It landed right in the middle, where, good news for me, there was a sink divider.
Taking the cup and balancing across, I managed to get it filled. By now Dream had finished. He walked over with his plate and set it in the sink. I handed the glass to him.
"Thank you!"
"Welcome, and don't spill it!"
He dashed down the pathways and up the stairs.
Hope he's ok.
A bright flash of lightning lit up the room next to us. I turned off the water, and took the little pole down. Once my feet hit the bottom, I ran for the room with the big windows. Wood going to carpet, I kept going for the window.
I made in under the sill, and managed to climb up with the help of a duck statue.
Back in the garden, I couldn't watch the storms without getting drenched and chilled. Sure, I could hear the thunder and the rain beating on the shelter, but I never could see those big flashes. Another flash lit up the yard, and I saw three somethings running across it. Hard to make out the breed, I could tell they were dogs.
What are they doing out in the rain?
The following rumble almost made me lose my balance.
Jana must have come down, for I began to hear some chatter from the kitchen. Turning back outside, I watched another. This one was small, but I could make it out. It wasn't like those cartoony lightning bolts that were thick. This one was skinny and spiderwebbed across a good portion of the clouded sky.
The next rumble was little, so the glass only sent small vibrations up my arms.
"There you are, you liking the show?"
"Yes, in the garden I never could watch these, and I was always curious what they looked like."
Me and Jana sat there for a small while, watching the intricate flashes of light dance across the sky.
"Hehe, Yep. They're pretty cool, and I also came by to ask you if you wanted to see the greenhouse."
"You have a separate house for plants?"
"Yep, and do you?"
"Of course, I always loved walking under the leaves.
"Then you'll be amazed at what I got."
I hopped onto Jana's offered hand, and she carried me to a room that had dirt piled up by the door.
"If your coming, then better hurry!"
Geno, Blue, Egdy, Scary, and Papyrus were soon in the dirt room. I noticed that they were all dressed.
"Jana, do I have enough time to change?"
"Yep, you should be able to find something in the top drawer of my dresser. I moved all the Bitty clothes there."
"Alright, thanks!"
I dashed up the stairs to the room.
Horror Papyrus POV:
The odd farmer skeleton raced for the stairs.
"Well, suppose I better get my stuff on. You guys are welcome to hitch a ride in my hood or the pockets."
She pulled out a black jacket from a closet on the right. There were also a pair of boots and a ruffled stick thing that got pulled out as well.
So far things have gone good. The house is warm, and I liked the food- mainly that brown stuff. But better not get too comfortable.
Farm Bitty came back just as the human was putting on the jacket and boots.
I heard another rumble.
"When we get back in I can pull out some stuff for us to do. And I don't- urg, Com'on! You boot! There- know why, but a tuna fish sandwich with tomato soup sounds good for lunch later."
Papyrus popped in," Jana, isn't that the same meal you made when that big storm came in?"
"It is, But don't worry too much about this one. It's not even close to the size of the other day. And think we are ready?"
All of us nodded. Jana bent down, lowering her arm to make a bridge towards the hood. Most of the others went for the hood, but me, the one skeleton with the sharp teeth, and Gene? Geno! Went for the pockets.
I got into the pocket on her right, only to be joined by one of the sharp toothed skeletons.
He wasn't the one in all black, and the zipper in the center of his hoodie was gold.
This must be Egde. Wait. There was a Eee at the end, so. . Egdy? Ya, Egdy sounds right.
"Off we go!" I peeked my head out of the pocket to see the human opening the door. A blast of cold wind came in, making me tuck back inside.
"WOOO! REFRESHING MOUNTAIN AIR, EH!" I heard Jana yell over the wind. Reaching up to the flap of the pocket, I closed it.
There wasn't any light inside, but I clearly hear Egdy.
"So, what'cha think of the place so far?"
"A definite upgrade from an alleyway."
"Least that's good."
". . How long have you been here, with Jana?"
"Oh, today is the third day she's had us."
"From what I could tell yesterday, she's pretty protective."
"Yep, and lax as well. I don't know if it's just her nature or something about her past, but if anything from yesterday with the van was clear; she'd put her life on the line to protect us."
"Speaking of, I managed to see her stop a bullet? My brother was more focused on the axe to notice it."
"Yep, stopped four of them actually. No idea how, but I'm glad she could."
"He, yes. Um, where did you guys first come from?"
"Me, my brother, Dream, Ink, Error, and the other two brothers, all came here in a flimsy cardboard box that was sent from a Bitty Black Market. I remember being slid into the box, getting bumped around for a good while, before the hard shove that got us into Jana's care. What about you?"
"Me? Well. Me and my brother started off in the Bitty Center. At that time there were only less than 10 other Bitties. Things went good for a bit, and we got adopted by a young man. He got us as a birthday present for his son. The father made sure we were the last present he opened, tch, he should have given a warning. I guess his son was prone to heart attacks, and now I wonder what he was thinking. Anyway, the son opened the box, and well, was rushed to the hospital after that. The mother filed for a divorce after her son was ok. We never intended to cause that much damage.
So, after getting divorced, the father had a rage fit and kicked us into the street. After that we spent countless nights in the alleyway, surviving on rats, birds, and anything edible in the garbage. Our daily cycle got interrupted when a sleezeball snagged us and sold us to the van driver. Then we met you."
"Man, talk about rough."
"WE HAVE ARRIVED!"
I felt Jana open a heavy door, walk through, and close it.
"Woo, nicer in here. You guys can go run around while I check on the plants."
Me and Egdy got out of the pocket onto some packed dirt. From where I was on the ground, the glass house was huge. I was able to see three doors, one on each wall. Looking back down to my eye level, the plants here were close to the ground. Most of the others went off to explore the rest.
Spotting something red under the plant, I lifted up the leaf. It looked like a strawberry, and it was fairly big. Pulling at the berry with my full weight, it didn't come off.
"Do you need help Scary me?"
I turned around and saw Paper? No. Paperus? Papyrus!
I really need to learn all their names.
"I'll gladly take some."
"Nyeh yeh yeh, The Great Papyrus will happily help you with that strawberry."
I began pulling at the berry while Papyrus pulled the other way from the stem.
It broke, and both of us were sent backwards.
"Nyeh yeh!"
"Nyeh! Thanks for the help!
"No problem Scary Me. I will be of- nyeh?"
A small vine had managed to wrap itself around his leg. I set down the berry, and went over to help. Grabbing the vine, I pulled as hard as I could.
No dice.
I looked around for a minute.
"How did this vine grow so fast? Let go!"
I spotted what looked like clippers on the other side of the path. I ran for them, before 'picking' them up and dragging them back over. The vine hadn't grown much more, but it was still stubborn when being pulled out.
Positioning the sharp part of the tool over the vine, I closed the handles together.
The vine broke, and Papyrus was quick to unravel it from his leg. We both got back to the path.
"Greatest of thanks to you, Scary me."
"Eh, your welcome."
"Just curious, do you have a name?"
"Not really. My brother has a name that some kid yelled at him one day. I know he doesn't like the name CrackSkull however."
"Hmm, you could ask Jana to think of new names for you."
"Alright, I'll ask her when we get back inside."
I picked up the strawberry, and walked with Papyrus to the human. Jana was hard to miss, mainly because there weren't many plants that were growing that high. The few bushes that was in there were barely taller than us.
Following the paths, we kept going till we got an unobstructed view of her mud covered boots.
"Jana! The Great Papyrus and Scary me have found a strawberry!"
I held it up, while she bent down for a better look.
"Hehe, I'll tell you one thing; strawberries don't grow nearly as big in the local store. And it's beautiful for it being the plants first harvest of the season. Though seasons don't matter that much in here."
"Human, how fast do the plants grow in here?"
"It depends on the plant. Why do you ask?"
"A vine managed to wrap around Papyrus's leg while we got the berry off. I managed to find some clippers to cut it however."
Facepalming, "I should have warned you guys about the ground, viney plants. Those grow the quickest in here, and the strawberry vines are the fastest out of them. Thanks for helping out."
"No problem. And Jana?"
"Yes?"
"I was wondering if you could name me and my brother."
"Only if you want me to."
"Yes please."
"Ok, it might take a little while to think of the perfect name. But I'll make sure I get there. Think you two are done in here, or do you want to stay a little longer?"
"I'm good to go."
"Nyeh, I am good either way human!"
"Alright. I need to check on the others, and you guys want a ride?"
Both answering yes, we were scooped up and placed on her shoulders.
Walking through the four rooms of the greenhouse, we came upon each of the others one by one. In the room that had lots of bushes, we found Blue eating some type of berry. The juices were overdecorating his shirt and shorts though.
"Looks like you found the Blue berries, and now your Purple!"
"I can't help it, they're yummy!"
"Wait till we put a little sugar on them, then you'll really love 'em."
"*nom* are we going back?"
"I'm thinking so."
"Can I stay a little bit longer? Pleeeeease? They taste so good!"
"Hehe, alright Blue. Just stay by the bushes, ok?"
"OK!" Smile wide, he held up his juice covered hand and gave a thumbs-up. He finished his berry and reached for another one.
We found Egdy in the room with all the small trees. Sitting in a crook of the branches, he was almost in the same state as Blue. Except it was a different berry.
"There you are Egdy. And it looks like you found the cherry tree."
"Is that what these are called? I just called them Pitcenters."
"Do they taste good?"
"Yep, if they weren't then I wouldn't be reaching for another." He walked up one of the branches to get a new cherry. Just barely out of his reach, he tried jumping for it. Already I could tell that it wasn't going to work. Jana knew as well and grabbed the branch holding the cherry, pulling it down so Egdy can reach.
"I thought you liked black, gold and red. Never thought of you as a pink person."
"What do ya- oh. That." Looking at his cherryjuice-stained hoodie, he tried to rub it out.
"Welp, guess that's not coming out."
"It will, and think your ready to go back?"
"Em, Imma thinking so."
"Well I still need to find Geno and Farmer. Want me to come back and get cha?
"If you don't mind. Might have me a few more of the cherries."
"Alright, I'll be back."
"See ya."
It took a while to find Geno, mainly because he was hiding in a red fruit.
"Geno? Come'on G, we're going back and I don't want to leave you here."
The plants we were next to had an odd metal frame around them. They were fairly tall, and there was something red underneath the leaves.
One of the red things fell to the ground a few frames down. Jana walked to it and I spotted a hole in one side, just large enough for a Bitty. Picking it up, she slowly split open the fruit starting from the hole. Inside was a certain Bitty covered in juice.
"I'm glad someone likes the tomatoes."
"He, hi?"
"Hello Geno. Are you liking it?"
"Yep! This is my second one. Though this one is a lot bigger."
"I was wondering how you could eat something that's larger than yourself, but then again I shouldn't question it after the pancake breakfast. Aye, Papyrus?"
"Nyeh heh heh, yes!"
"Anyway, I was getting everyone rounded up to head back to the house."
"Alright. I'll happily join. It was starting to get sticky anyways."
We found Overalls by the underground plants. Tightening his grip on a stem near some shelved, he pulled. He continued till he finally got it loosened. Still pulling; the plant and a small white orb came out before the force sent the Bitty backwards. He hit the shelf, and a pot filled with loose dirt fell on him.
"Crap."
Jana lifted the pot, and set in back in its place.
Covered in the dirt, Overalls managed to get his head and a hand out of the pile.
"Looks like you found my garlic plant, and you look like a little spud. Hey, that's actually a good name. What's your opinion on it?"
"Considering that I'm stuck, I like it. Where you thinking of a name for one of the others?"
"Well, actually I was trying to think of a name for you. Do, you want to be called Spud?"
"It's a heck of a lot better than Overalls and Farmer. I'll take it!"
"Alright Spud, lets get you out of there."
Jana dug her hands in underneath the pile of soil, and lifted it up. Most of it fell to the ground, leaving Spud to get the smaller parts off. Shaking like a dog, a small wave of dirt and dust was sent to the path.
"He, you need a bath after this. In fact most of you need a cleanup."
Jana's thought: I am never taking them to the barn if I could lose them here in less than 4 minutes. 😁
After getting all the Bitties settled in the jacket, Jana braved the storm again to get them inside.
Once inside and Jana took off her rain gear, I peeked into the living room.
What did you guys DO?!
Another part will come, but it will take a bit.
I will be going on a camping trip for the next week and won't be back till near the last week of July. I will not have access to internet or electricity, so I figured that the gap will be a good time to do a Q&A.
If you got a question for me personally, Jana, the Bitties or any other character in the story, please comment it on the next part down below. If it goes to a certain character or person, please state at the beginning of the question. (I need to set up a few rules before this gets too far out of hand)
