*Jack POV*

After Ryuko finally decided to let me off from teasing her, we got back to the auditorium. Upon our return, we saw Yang arguing with Weiss while Ruby tries her best to befriend the heiress. To defuse the situation we grabbed both Ruby and Yang and got them back to where our sleeping bags are while Blake blows the candle down. Later we got to sleep. Right now I partially awake, thinking about Ryuko proposition

'I called it a date mainly to tease her. Not that I wouldn't mind, but well... one I'm a human, she is a Faunus, I wonder if it could work. Second, we haven't seen each other for five years until today. We had our little thing back at Signal, but we never became official. Well, maybe there is a chance now. But...' I look at Ryuko sleeping next to me in her bag 'A former White Fang member and a dude who can turn into a bird because of some magic stuff, whose father is a spy for Ozpin' I sigh and look at the rising sun 'Well, maybe it's time to get matters in my hands and finally do this'

???: "It's morning, It's morning, It's morning, It's moooorning!" I heard singing to my left, only to see an energetic ginger girl with blue eyes bugging some guy with black hair with a magenta streak and eyes

Jack "Sucks to be him" I turn back to my right and shake Ryuko awake

Ryuko: "*grunt* Five more minutes..." she turned her back to me

Jack: "Kitty, it's time to get up. We have initiation today"

Ryuko: "It can wait..." Leaving me no choice I take her tail and pet it in my hand. Well, Ryuko's reaction was the opposite of what I expected. She moaned before shooting awake with a massive blush "W-What the fuck was that (Y-Y/N)?!"

Jack: "W-well..."

Ryuko: "If you grab my tail like that one more time I will fry you to a crisp! A-Asshole!"

Jack: "S-Sorry! I didn't know i-it's sensitive!" Ryuko groaned and stood up, storming away "Ryuko, wait! Let me explain myself!" she stopped and turned around

Ryuko: "YOU have nothing to explain. You knew Faunus traits are sensitive! And what did you do?! You yank my tail and embarrass me!"

Jack: "I didn't know that! How could I even know that!?"

Ryuko: "Maybe because SOMEONE did it to me before! Don't you remember that!?"

Jack: "Oh..." I remember that one time us four were playing tag when we were ten and Yang tugged Ryuko's tail, making her yelp in pain "You mean when Yang-"

Ryuko: "Yes! I thought that she would rip it off!" she continues walking away

Jack: "Oh man... I screw up..." I walk towards my locker

*Ryuko POV*

'I can't believe this yerk! I thought that he is less ignorant than that! My Oum, why did I fall for this asshole... this jackass! This, this... lovable idiot, and his red eyes. Ugh! Ryuko calm yourself girl! This is still Jack! But... he changed so much during those five years... he got jacked and his face got more handsome and... Dammit... I can't lie to myself. I love him for him, and no matter how much he changes, I can't stop feeling those butterflies in my stomach and the warmth in my chest'

Ryuko: "*sigh* I can't stay mad at him. Well, better get ready for initiation. Maybe we can end up in one team together" I smile and walk to my locker. After changing into my combat skirt I grab my jacket and start to put it on. When I started putting on my cat stockings I notice Yang and Ruby coming my way

Ruby: "Hey Ryuko!"

Yang: "Sup Ryu Ryu"

Ryuko: "Hey girls. Ready to kick some Grimm ass?"

Yang: "You bet I am!" she punches her fists together "What about you?"

Ryuko: "More than ever" I finished putting on my outfit and grab my blades before putting them on my back "Hey, Yang, Ruby?"

Yang and Ruby: "Huh?"

Ryuko: "Is... Jack seeing someone... at this moment?"

Ruby: "Hmm... I don't think so"

Yang: "Why are you asking? Are you perhaps..." she gets near me with a smirk "Jealous?" I shove her away, making her laugh

Ryuko: "I'm not! I just wonder if that jerk got someone. And how could she stand with him"

Ruby: "Did... something happened? When we woke up you two were nowhere near us"

Ryuko: "Well... he tugged my tail, I got angry and-"

Yang: "He tugged your tail, huh? I thought he saw it's painful. I mean when we were ten we-"

Ryuko: "Yeah. I still remember the pain, Yang" I look angry at her

Yang: "My gosh, he just screwed up with you big time... Looks like it's time to be a big cousin and knock some sense into his brain"

Ryuko: "Don't. I'm not angry at him or anything... I just got shocked, that's all" I slump "I just wish for him to stop behaving like a retard and notice how I feel. It's hard to hide feelings..."

Yang: "Ryu Ryu" she gets her arm around my shoulders "Girl, listen, you and he have a date later this week. It's your chance"

Ruby: "And then we three will be sisters! Oh gosh, I can't wait till I become an aunt!" I blush madly

Ryuko: "KIDS?!"

Yang: "Ruby, that's not how it works, you know. They have to date for like two years, get engaged, married"

Ryuko: "Wait, wait! Wait! Engaged?! Married?! Girls, you're thinking way ahead! One step at the time... Even if I would love that too..."

Yang: "What was that last line, Kiryuin? Or should I say Branwen?"

Ryuko: "Yang, please" I hide my red as tomato face in my hands

Yang: "Oh gosh! You want to marry Jack! That's so sweet!"

Ryuko: "YANG!"

Ruby: "Oh my Oum! I just imagined those little kittens! They were so sweet!"

Ryuko: "Not you too Ruby! And that's not how it works... If Faunus and a human have a kid, it's random. Wait?! Why am I even telling you this guys?!" Yang laughs and Ruby snickers

Yang: "Okay, okay... Sorry, Ryu Ryu. Just be good for him. And if anything, come to me. I will YANG some tact into him"

Ruby and Ryuko: "Not again with the puns Yang!" we groan

Ryuko: "*sigh* Get your gear, girls. We have to get into this school"

Ruby: "Yeah!"

Yang: "You seem awfully chipper this morning!"

Ruby: "Yep! No more awkward small talk or 'getting-to-know-you' stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking" She strokes her weapon and sighs happily

Yang: "Well, remember, Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation. If you wanna grow up, you're gonna have to meet new people and learn to work together"

Ryuko: "We're here to learn how to work with a team. Ruby, sooner or later you need to meet new people" Ruby sighs in frustration

Ruby: "You two sound like Dad!" she shoves her weapon into the locker "Okay, first of all: What does meeting new people have to do with fighting? And secondly: I don't need people to help me grow up! I drink milk!"

Ryuko: "How about when we form teams, Rosie?" Ruby become nervous

Ruby: "Um, I don't know, I... I'll just be on your team or Yang's or Jack's or something..."

Yang: "Maybe you should try being on someone else's team?"

Ryuko: "It could help with your social awkwardness, Ruby"

Yang: "Yup!"

Ruby: "My dear sister Yang, my friend Ruyko, are you two implying that you do not wish to be on the same team as me?"

Yang: "What? No! Of course, we do! Right, Ryu Ryu?" I nod " I just thought... I don't know, maybe it would help you... break out of your shell!"

Ruby: "What the-?! I don't need to 'break out of my shell'! That's absolutely-" Jaune walks between us, holding a map

Jaune: "Ridiculous! There's no way I put my gear in locker 636 yesterday! I would've remembered having to count that high! Why does this have to happen today?"

Ryuko: "Yikes. Someone's having a really bad day" I look to my right, spotting Pyrrha Nikos talking with the Schnee "And Pyrrha is here too. Well, more familiar faces than I expected" I close my locker. Us three observe as Weiss tries to get Pyrrha to her team, Jaune trying to flirt with the Ice Queen, and Pyrrha throwing her spear at him, pinning him to a locker near the exit

Pyrrha: "I'm sorry!" Then Glynda comes on the intercom

Glynda: "Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation? Again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately" Weiss and Pyrrha exit the locker room, with Pyrrha retrieving her weapon, making Jaune drop on his ass. Us three approach him

Yang: "Having some trouble there, lady-killer?"

Jaune: "I don't understand. My dad said all women look for is confidence! Where did I go wrong?" I and Ruby get him up

Ryuko: "Not all women. Sometimes you just have to be yourself, Jaune"

Yang: "Besides 'Snow Angel' probably wasn't the best start"

Ruby: "Come on, Jaune, let's go" Ruby leads Jaune out of the room, supporting him and his broken self-esteem. I and Yang follow shortly

*Jack POV*

After Ryuko stormed away, I grabbed my gear and got to the cliff. I'm the only student here, with Ozpin and Glynda keeping me company

Ozpin: "I understand your dedication, Jack. But isn't it too early for getting here?"

Jack: "I had to do a little warmup and recognition. Besides, I felt like getting here early"

Ozpin: "That's understandable. But wouldn't you like to spend some time with your cousins and Ryuko?"

Jack: "No"

Ozpin: "And why is that Mr. Branwen?"

Jack: "I did something stupid in the morning and Ryuko got angry at me"

Ozpin: "Perhaps something to do with her heritage, hmm?"

Jack: "It's not your business, Oz" I do some arm stretches "Did dad got anything? Any sign from him?"

Ozpin: "Unfortunately, Qrow is still unable to respond from his mission. Knowing him, he should end it soon enough"

Jack: "Yeah, that's if he doesn't drink..." I crack my neck "Man, you send him after HER forces all the time, I barely see him home"

Ozpin: "You know better Jack that SHE is a serious threat to our world"

Jack: "Yeah, yeah, I know. You and dad told me everything, uncle Oz. And about how I can turn into a bird, etc."

Ozpin: "I only ask you Jack to be discreet about this. It would cause panic if the world get to know this and-"

Jack: "And panic would bring Grimm. I know, jeez, no need to repeat it to me all the time"

Ozpin: "Good" he looks into the distance to spot students coming to the cliff "And it looks like we could start" he turns to the forest while everyone gets to their places. Ruby and Ryuko on either side. I look at Ryuko

Jack: "Kitty... I'm sorry about what I did..." Ryuko looks away

Ryuko: "Hmph!" she looks back at me "You better think twice next time. You have to repay me for that stunt"

Jack: "And how should I do it?"

Ryuko: "Let's say, I have a special place for our 'date'" she smirks

Jack: "So it's a date or not?"

Ryuko: "It is. And better dress well for it" she winked

Jack: "O-kay?" We turn to Oz and Glynda

Ozpin: "For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest"

Glynda: "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of 'teams.' Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today"

Ruby: "What? Ohhh..."

Ryuko: "Lighten up Ruby. It will be alright"

Ozpin: "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well" Ruby groans "That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years" Ruby gets shocked

Ruby: "Whaaaat?!" The ginger girl from the morning shouts from the other end

Ginger girl: "See? I told you-!"

Ozpin: "After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die" Jaune laughs nervously and gulps

Jack: "Heh, same old Oz" I smirk

Ozpin: "You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" Jaune raises his hand

Jaune: "Yeah, um, sir?"

Ozpin: "Good! Now, take your positions" Everyone strikes a pose on their launching pad. Yang raises her fists, Ruby readies her body while Ryuko gets into the position with her tail high and I get one of my hands on my weapon while putting the other on my knee. Jaune is still raising his hand

Jaune: "Uh, sir? I've got, um... a question" I notice Weiss being launched " So, this landing... strategy thing... Uh, wha-what is it? You're, like, dropping us off or something?"

Ozpin: "No. You will be falling"

Jaune: "Oh, uh, I see... So, like, did you hand out parachutes for us?" more students are launched

Ozpin: "No. You will be using your own 'landing strategy'"

Jaune: "Uh-huh... Yeah" Now, it's Yang's time

Jack: "See you afterward, Firecracker" She winks at me and Ruby, puts her aviators up, and flies off

Yang: "Woo-hooooo!"

Jack: "You too Rubes" She smiles and nods

Ruby: "See you in the forest Jack!" she gets launched and I turn to Ryuko

Jack: "Well... wish me luck" She gets near my face and peck my cheek, making me lose my pose and blush

Ryuko: "For good luck. See you birdie"

Jack: "Ehh?!" I got launched, doing some flips before stabilizing myself, flying towards Emerald Forest. I look back, seeing Ryuko flying right behind me in the most easy-going manner

'Guess cats land on four paws after all' I smirk and later laugh a little, seeing Jaune's uncontrollable flight. I turn around, just in time to see Ruby has cut down a bird

Ruby: "BIRDIE, NO!"

'It would be funny if that bird was my old man' I chuckle, watching the ground is slowly incoming

Jack: "Guess it's time to give them a little show" I get my hands forward and soon an ice ramp gets under my feet. I use it to slide down to the forest level. Later I wave my hand, melting down the ice ramp "Now, where to" I look around until

???: "HEADS UP!!!" Someone crashed into me, as I fall on my back. I then feel something on my lips. I open my eyes to see... Ryuko and I are kissing. She opens her eyes too and blushes madly as we stare into each other eyes

'Oh, Oum! Did we?! Are we really?! Guess I get a lightning strike to the ass for this...'

To my surprise, Ryuko doesn't pull off, she just deepens the kiss and slowly closes her eyes as I melt into the kiss. We broke it thirty seconds later

Ryuko: "Man, I was waiting for this for five years~" She looks at me "Guess it's up now." She breaths in and out "Jack, I love you!"

A/N: Was it faster than in Ripper of Fibers? I think it was

Jack: "I..."

Ryuko: "I'm sorry! Yang told me you liked me back, and then she said I should do something or someone will steal you from me and she suggested going on a date and then I crashed into you and we kissed!" she said nearly as fast as Ruby

Jack: "Ryuko..."

Ryuko: "I planned on confessing in the restaurant we would go, it would be so romantic and then we could walk back to the dorms holding hands, leaning against each other and you would swear to never leave me! I'm sorry if Yang lied to me and you don't love me ba-" I cut her off with a second quick kiss

Jack: "You're not the only one, Kitten. Ryuko Kiryuin, I love you" This brought a smile to her face

Ryuko: "Really? No teasing or anything?" I nod "You're not playing with me?" I shake my head

Jack: "Really" Some tears escape Ryuko's eyes

Ryuko: "I was waiting five years to hear you saying it to me" she hugs me and I hug back "I love you, you bird brain"

Jack: "I love you too, you stray cat" I then remembered something "Oh right, initiation. Guess we're partners by the way"

Ryuko: "In both meanings of this word" she giggles "Wait till we tell Yang and Ruby"

Jack: "Yeah... better not now. Come on Kitten, we have an initiation to pass" We get up, grab our weapons and walk towards north

Ryuko: "Hey Jack, do you know where we are going?" I nod

Jack: "Well, my old man took me here sometimes to train. He was harsher with me than with Ruby. Guess it paid off. Ruby bugs me to this day to teach her some stuff he didn't teach her"

Ryuko: "Like?"

Jack: "Like slashing cartwheels. And I refuse to teach her that because she could do something to herself. Her scythe's blade is a bit bigger than mine"

Ryuko: "Yeah it is" We hear some growls, and soon Ursa comes out of the bushes. We get our weapons out, I get my scythe and get ready to freeze it in place, while Ryuko's hair gets up and small lighting jumps between her fingers "No one taught those monsters that it's not polite to interrupt someone's talk?"

Jack: "Since when do you care about manners?"

Ryuko: "Eh" she shrugs "I don't know. Guess there are some times my mom's lessons show up" Ursa roars and charges at us

Ryuko gets her scissors and transforms them into gunlance, shooting lighting from it towards the Grimm. While she is distracting the Grimm, I run around it, slashing at it several times, trying to freeze its head. It moves its paw, sending me flying at the tree, but I hook my scythe around the tree's trunk and fly back at Ursa with double the force, sending it into a tree. Ryuko wastes no time and rushes it with her scissor blades, stabbing them on both sides of its neck, snapping its head, killing the Grimm

Jack: "Wow, nice teamwork there"

Ryuko: "Was it one of those things your dad taught you and not Ruby?" I nod

Jack: "So that what you meant by 'barrel for my Semblance'? Ryuko nods this time

Ryuko: "It's basically a railgun. And another handy thing" She takes out her scroll and activates her lightings on this hand. Scroll lighten up, signalizing charging "I can charge my scroll wherever I want"

Jack: "Have a Semblance for generating lighting, use it to charge a scroll. Kitty, you really don't find a better use for it?" as answer Ryuko sent small lighting to my arm, zapping me "Ow!"

Ryuko: "This was 1/50 of my full power. Say something again and I will use more voltage"

Jack: "Geez, fine. Let's move" We continue to go our way towards the temple. Soon we get to the clearing. We walk to the platforms

Ryuko: "Chess pieces? Is this the Relic we're supposed to get?"

Jack: "I think so Ryuko. So, which one?"

Ryuko: "Hmm..." she looks at all the pieces "How about we get a gold knight? There are three of those here"

Jack: "Weird... Maybe someone from Beacon staff made a mistake?" Ryuko shrugs and later grabs the piece to hide it in her jacket's pocket

???: "Hey lovebirds!" We turn around and see Yang stepping out of the forest with Blake

Ryuko: "Hey Yang. Hey Blake"

Jack: "Sup girls"

Yang: "You two know each other?" she pointed at Blake and later at Ryuko

Blake: "We share some history"

Ryuko: "Yup. So, how are you guys?"

Yang: "Oh. I just beat Beowolfs, not a big deal" she waves her hand "Are you two first here?"

Jack: "I don't think so. Some chess pieces are already gone"

Blake: "Chess pieces?"

Jack: "There are the relics Oz told us about. Go grab one and we can go back to the cliff together"

Blake: "Well, I guess we could" she and Yang walk to the platforms

Yang: "Hmmmm..." she picks up another golden knight and shows it to Blake "How about a cute little pony?" Blake smirks

Blake: "Sure"

Yang: "That wasn't too hard!"

Jack: "Well, that's for initiation"

Ryuko: "Now we only need to get back"

Blake: "Well, it's not like this place is very difficult to find" We smile

Ryuko: "Well, better get moving. We get our piec-" a girly scream interrupts her "es... *sigh* Seems like someone could end up as food for Deathstalker"

Yang: "Some girl is in trouble! Guys, did you hear that?" Blake stares at the sky, looking at something. "Guys?"

???: "Heads uuuuuuuup!" We all look up to see Ruby falling from the sky

Jack: "*sigh* I got he-" Just as I was about to save our little pipsqueak, Jaune comes flying through the air and crashes into her, sending them both into a tree to our left

Blake: "Did your sister just fall from the sky?"

Yang: "I-" several crashing noises cut her off. An Ursa comes out swiping its paws. On its back rides that ginger girl from the morning

Ginger girl: "YEEEE-HAAAAW!" she rolls of Grimm's back "Awwww... It's broken" her depressed companion comes out of the forest

Depressed guy: "Nora! Please... Don't ever do that again"

Nora: "Oooohh..." she stares at the golden rook "I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!" she sings

Depressed guy: "Nora!" Nora stops dancing and singing

Nora: "Coming, Ren!" she skips to the guy now known as Ren

Blake: "Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?"

Ryuko: "More importantly, how did she even get on Ursa's back?"

Yang: "I..." this time she gets interrupted by Pyrrha Nikos running out of the forest, with a Deathstalker going after her

Pyrrha: "Jaune!"

Jaune: "Pyrrha" Ruby meanwhile runs off the branch of the tree and lands with a roll "Ruby!" he whines

Yang and Jack: "Ruby!"

Ruby: "Yang! Jack!" she raises her arms, trying to hug us, but Nora gets between us, knocking girls out of the balance

Nora: "Nora!"

Blake: "Did she just run all the way here with a Death Stalker on her tail?" Yang has enough, erupting in a small flame with her eyes flashing red

Yang: "I can't take it anymore! Can everyone just chill out for two seconds before something crazy happens again?!" we wait for two seconds. After that I, Blake, Ryuko, and Ruby look up the sky

Ruby: "Umm... Yang?" she tugs Yang's sleeve. We then notice Weiss hanging on a talon of a Nevermore. I and Ryuko laugh

Weiss: "How could you leave me?!"

Ruby: "I said 'jump'!"

Ryuko: "R-Ruby, hahaha! Did you... did you two road a Nevermore here?"

Ruby: "Yup!"

Jack: "Oh my Oum! I wanted to do that! Good job Ruby"

Ruby: "Thanks"

Blake: "She's gonna fall"

Ruby: "She'll be fine"

Ren: "She's falling"

Jaune jumps out of the same tree Ruby was and catches Weiss mid-air before he remembers he can't fly. He faceplants into the dirt, acting as a landing pad for Weiss

Weiss: "My hero"

Jaune: "My back..."

The Deathstalker throws Pyrrha near us, as she lands on her side

Yang: "Great! The gang's all here! Now we can die together!"

Ruby: "Not if I can help it!" she rushes the Deathstalker with a battle cry

Yang/Jack: "Ruby, wait!/ Ruby, stop!"

Ruby, still screaming, fires Crescent Rose and charges at the oncoming Deathstalker. When the two meet, the Grimm swipes Ruby away and she is knocked back. She slowly gets up

Ruby: "D-Do-Don't worry! Totally fine!"

Ruby turns back to the monster and shoots it in the skull, running away from it and sheathing her scythe as the Death Stalker now goes after her. I and Yang run towards her

Yang and Jack: "Ruby!"

Ruby rushes towards us, but the Nevermore caws above us, flapping its wings and releasing lines of sharpened feathers with points that catch on Ruby's cape and prevent Yang and me from reaching her.

Yang: "Ruby, get out of there! Jack, do something!"

Jack: "I'm trying my best Yang!" The Deathstalker gets near Ruby, raising its stinger above her, getting ready to stab her

Yang and Jack: "RUBY!" Yang tried to reach for Ruby while I get my last resort

Jack: "Ice-" I was cut off by a while blur racing past me and Yang. Weiss get in front of Ruby and created an ice wall with her glyph

Weiss: "You are so childish!"

Ruby: "Weiss...?"

Weiss: "And dim-witted, and hyperactive, and don't even get me started on your fighting style. And I suppose I can be a bit... difficult... but if we're going to do this, we're going to have to do this together. So if you quit trying to show off, I'll be... nicer"

Ruby: "I'm not trying to show off. I want you to know I can do this"

Weiss: "You're fine" she walks away Yang meanwhile rushes Ruby, giving her a big hug

Yang: "So happy you're okay!" I get near them, as Ruby grunts still in Yang's hug

Jack: "You gave us quite a scare, pipsqueak. Glad you're okay" I ruffle her hair. We look up, seeing the Nevermore still flying overhead and roaring

Jaune: "Guys? That thing's circling back! What are we gonna do?"

Weiss: "Look, there's no sense in dilly-dallying. Our objective is right in front of us" we look at the relics

Ruby: "She's right. Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the Cliffs. *she nods to Weiss* There's no point in fighting these things"

Jaune: "Run and live - that's an idea I can get behind!" Ruby grabs another golden knight and Jaune picks up another golden rook. Meanwhile, Deathstalker is freeing itself from the ice trap

Ren: "It's time we leave!"

Ruby: "Right!" she waves to us "Let's go! Everyone follows her, as I and Yang smile and look proudly at her

Jack: "She is acting just like mom, right Yang?"

Yang: "Yeah... She would be proud of her" Blake and Ryuko get near us

Blake: "What is it?"

Yang: "Nothing..."

Ryuko: "Come on hun! Let's not keep Ruby waiting"

Jack: "Yup"

Yang turns to us in the realization

Yang: "Wait! 'Hun'?! Did you two...?"

Ryuko: "We will tell you later, Yang. Now we need to get to the cliff"

Yang: "Right... But you two better tell me in details how did that happen" having no other option but to agree we run after Ruby and the rest of the students

A/N: I'm ending this here because, in the next chapter, we will see not only the first Day in Beacon but also a date. Welp and I did it again... I guess... I really don't like dense Jack books like in some other stories. She has feelings for him, he has feelings for them, now smooch a voila, a happy relationship which is easier to write than doing all those 'does she/he love me' stuff.
