*Jack POV*

Half of our first semester is behind us and well...

Jack: "Ryu, do I really have to?"

Ryuko: "Yes you have. That, or you can never show your face to me. Now, what do you say hun?" she smirks and I sigh

Jack: "Okay, fine. Let's get this over with" I put my hands on her shoulders and start massaging them as Ryuko purrs in delight "Spoiled kitten"

Ryuko: "You're partially responsible for that. If you didn't put me in an armbar in Glynda's class, then it wouldn't happen" She closes her eyes "That hits the spot, mmm~"

Jack: "Yeah, yeah. Armbar and not those bumpers you call breasts" now it's my time to smirk, as my cat girlfriend blushes

Ryuko: "Hey! They're not that big, you know! I'm 34C!"

Jack: "Yhm. And Jaune have any chances with Weiss"

Ryuko: "If you don't like my girls then find another girlfriend. Not every girl can have boobs like Yang" she huffs and I chuckle

Jack: "Messing with you, Ryu. You're perfect in every aspect to me"

Ryuko: "Hmph" she turns away "You want to make amends? Then get going with your hands, birdie. My shoulders are stiff" I sigh

Jack: "And what next? Foot massage?" Ryuko puts a finger on her lips, thinking

Ryuko: "That's not a bad idea. After walking a whole day in those heeled combat boots, my feet are hurting"

Jack: "Why do you even buy them? How do you even fight in these?!"

Ryuko: "That's a girl secret, honey" She winks at me "And my old one broke, so I got them"

Jack: "You know what, I won't ask any more questions. Just know I won't princess carry you out of battlefield if you twist your ankle"

Ryuko: "I would rather stumble all the way from Vale to Mistral than get embarrassed. I know you too well, you would start saying things like 'Princess Ryuko, your knight in shiny armor has arrived to rescue you from your distress'" I scoff

Jack: "Yeah, like I would do something cheesy like that" I roll my eyes "Girls went to eat breakfast, we have Glynda's combat class in 30 minutes and then some free time until lunch. So better get ready for the day" I got my hands from Ryuko and get to grab my uniform. I took off the top of my PJ's, throwing it into the laundry basket, much to Ryuko's satisfaction

Ryuko: "*whistle* I know I won't get bored with this view~"

Jack: "Who is ogling who now, Ryu?"

Ryuko: "I just admire my man, nothing is wrong with it" she smiles, before I enter the bathroom, exiting fully changed, letting Ryuko in. While she's changing, I think of the events that transpired during the last three months

School is going pretty easy, but the police get more and more reports about dust robberies. From what Ryuko got to know from her friend, it mostly either the White Fang or Torchwick'

Jack: "But... Torchwick never left money before, at least that's what his acts say. Hmm" I think with my hand on my chin. Then Ryuko exits, spotting me deep in thought

Ryuko: "Whatcha thinkin honey?"

Jack: "Hmm? Oh, just stuff. Don't worry"

Ryuko: "O...kay? Anyway, ready to go to Glynda's classroom?" I nod and we are on our way, meeting with the rest of the gang halfway

*Timeskip*

After my fight against Ruby, to which she asked ever since she wanted to know who is a better scythe user, (I am. Pipsqueak still has a lot to learn to defeat me or by that matter Qrow), it went for the next match, Cardin vs Jaune. And Jaune is losing pretty badly

Jack: "Heh, now I saw everything I know"

Ryuko: "Huh?"

Jack: "Look at Jaune" we turn to the stage. Jaune is leaning on his weapon, exhausted. Cardin just laughs at him, and Jaune gathers enough strength to charge forward, swinging his blade at Cardin, who jumps out of the way. He looks back in surprise as Cardin swings his mace sending Jaune and his shield flying back

Ryuko: "Hmm... Jaune looks like-"

Jack: "Like he never fought before. No experience, nothing. Just a newbie with a sword and a shield. And that's got me to my conclusion. Oz had some trouble with some fake documents a year ago. I think Jaune either had his hands on those to get into Beacon or he's just bad with his sword. I hope it's the second option" We turn back to the fight, seeing Cardin standing over Jaune

Cardin: "This is the part where you lose"

Jaune: "Over my dead-!" Cardin cuts him off by a knee in the gut, making him drop his sword and fall to the ground in pain. Cardin raises his mace and is about to slam it down on a worried Jaune just when the buzzer rings, the lights come back on, and Glynda comes back to stop him

Glynda: "Cardin, that's enough!" Cardin walks away, while Glynda gets the spot in the center of the arena "Students, as you can see, Mr.Arc's Aura has now dropped into the red. In a tournament-style duel, this would indicate that Jaune is no longer fit for battle and that the official may call the match" Ryuko took a look to her left, seeing uneasy Pyrrha looking at Jaune

Ryuko: "Hey, Pyrrha, everything good?" Ryuko poke her shoulder

Pyrrha: "Oh! Yeah, yeah... I'm good. No need to worry, Ryuko"

Ryuko: "If something's wrong, you can tell me. Like in Sanctum"

Pyrrha: "I will keep that in mind"

Glynda: "Mr. Arc, it's been weeks now. Please try to refer to your Scroll during combat. Gauging your Aura will help you decide when it's appropriate to attack, or when it is better to move to a more... defensive strategy. We wouldn't want you to be gobbled up by a Beowolf, now, would we?"

Cardin: "Speak for yourself..."

Ryuko: "Fucking asshole..." she scoffs, glaring at Cardin. Meanwhile, Yang punches the air, Weiss shakes her fist with a... smile and Ruby is shaking with enthusiastic energy, squealing softly

Glynda: "Remember, everyone, the Vytal Festival is only a few months away! It won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale!"

The bell rings, and everybody starts to leave while Pyrrha continues to frown sadly. Jaune still sits on the floor, hanging his head in shame. Ryuko looks back and forth at them

Jack: "Ryu Ryu! Come on! Or Nora will eat our lunch!"

Ryuko: "I will be there in a while, Jack!" I shrug and went after Ruby and Yang to find us a table in the cafeteria

*Ryuko POV*

I walk towards Pyrrha

Ryuko: "Should I lighten you on what's going on in your mind Pyrrha? Or you know already?"

Pyrrha: "Sorry, but know what?" I smile softly at her

Ryuko: "You have a crush on Jaune. And don't try to lie to me. I know a girl in love when I see one"

Pyrrha: "I... don't have a crush on him, don't be ridiculous Ryuko. It's just so sad to see him doing so poorly"

Ryuko: "Man... Pyrrha, if anything you can always teach him how to fight. I remember who always gave me beatings during Region Tournament" I smile "Come on, I left Jack unsupervised. And knowing him, anything can happen" I then turned to Jaune "You too Jaune! Get over it and come on!" I shouted, as he finally stops getting depressed and follows me and Pyrrha to the cafeteria

*Jack POV*

After Pyrrha, Ryuko and depressed Jaune joined us, Nora started telling us her story

Nora: "So! There we were, in the middle of the night..."

Ren: "It was day"

Nora: "We were surrounded by Ursa..."

Ren: "They were Beowolves"

Nora: "Dozens of them!" she gets on top of the table

Ren: "Two of 'em" Ruby, Pyrrha, and I look at depressed Jaune

Nora: "But they were no match... And in the end, Ren and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs!" Ren sighs

Ren: "She's been having this recurring dream for nearly a month now"

Jack: "Your mother never taught you not to play with your food, Arc?" Jaune gets his head up

Jaune: "Huh?"

Pyrrha: "Jaune? Are you okay?"

Jaune: "Huh? Oh, yeah! Why?"

Ruby: "It's just that you seem a little... NOT okay..."

Jack: "If something's worrying you, you can tell us. We won't laugh, mostly" Now everyone looks at him

Jaune: "Guys, I'm fine. Seriously! Look!" he gives us a nervous thumbs up until we hear a scream of a brown-haired rabbit girl, Velvet Scarlatina

Ryuko: "I swear, if Coco and Yatsu would be here, Cardin would be kissing his ass by now" she whispers

Jack: "They are in class... which doesn't mean we can't help her" I smirk "Charge up, Ryuko. We have some assholes to beat" Ryuko smirks, as her hair stand up, mini lightings jump from them

Ryuko: "I already have enough for his tiny ass"

Jack: "Keep it at bay until he doesn't do anything serious"

Pyrrha: "Jaune, Cardin's been picking on you since the first week of school!"

Jaune: "Who? Cardin Winchester? Nah... He just likes to mess around! You know, practical jokes!"

Ruby: "He's a bully"

Ryuko: "He's an asshole, that's who he is!" Ruby brings a small jar from her bag before Yang slowly lowers it back down

Yang: "Not the time Rubes. If Ryuko's hair stand up, you don't want to make her angry"

Ruby: "You mean like when you-" Yang nods "Oh, the day she discovered her Semblance. Right..."

Jaune: "Oh, please! Name one time he's bullied me"

Ruby: "He threw your books out of your hands"

Jaune: "It was an accident"

Ryuko: "He activated your shield in the doorway"

Jaune: "It could activate itself! You know I got it from my grandfather"

Jack: "What about when I saved you from him trying to launch you away in your rocket locker?"

*Flashback*

Glynda gives us a tour around the locker room.

Glynda: "Each of you will be assigned one rocket-propelled locker to store your weapons and extra armor. Additionally, your locker can be sent to a custom location based on a six-digit code"

Cardin, being the idiot he is, tries to push Jaune inside the locker to launch him away. I made my way to them and tap Cardin's shoulder

Cardin: "Huh?" I punch him in the nerve, knocking him out, later I get Jaune out of the way before launching Cardin away"

Glynda: "What was that?"

Jack: "Professor Goodwitch, Cardin just got an idea to test the locker and propelled himself away, right Jaune?" I wink at him

Jaune: "Oh... yeah! He wanted to test it" Glynda sighs

Glynda: "You can tell him he is in detention for a week. Let's continue"

*Flashback ends*

Jack: "He tried to get revenge, but let's just say, you don't want to play with fire. Jaune, if you need help, you can ask any of us"

Pyrrha: "We are here for you"

Nora: "Ooooh!" she gets up with a diabolical grin on her face "We'll break his legs!"

Jaune: "Guys, really, it's fine! Besides, it's not like he's only a jerk to me; he's a jerk to everyone"

Ryuko: "Well... he tried to grab my tail only to be met with high voltage. Since then he is taught to not mess with-"

Velvet: "Ow! That hurts!" We turn to the source, to see Cardin tugging her ears. This makes Ryuko angry beyond anything as she grinds her teeth

Ryuko: "That's it... Jack, come on" I nod and follow her to those assholes "Winchester! Care to explain what you are doing with our friend?!"

Cardin: "Oh, and who is this? Miss Pussycat and her matchstick. Scram or I will rip your filthy Faunus tail next"

Jack: "Weight your words. Let Velvet go or-"

Cardin: "Or else?"

Ryuko: "We will be sure everything which is left from you is ash and some bones" Now lighting around Ryuko starts jumping around. Cardin gulps as he looks at us. Ryuko with lighting around her and me with a blue flame around my hands

Jack: "Your choice" He let Velvet go and turn around to leave the cafeteria. Ryuko just to warn him one last time sends a lightning bolt at them, as they yelp and start running. Meanwhile, we get near Velvet and help her up

Ryuko: "You okay Velvet? Where is Coco? Where are Fox and Yatsu?"

Velvet: "They have classes, and I thought I will go get something to eat before their return... Thanks, guys"

Jack: "If anything, don't be afraid to ask for help. We will help"

Velvet: "Sure thing Jack. I have to go, my next period starts in 5 minutes. Ugh, Professor Port's stories, here I go" she laughs softly

Ryuko: "Remember about the pillow Velv! And tell Coco those boots she got me are great. And remind her! Saturday near the mall!"

Velvet: "Will do! See you later Ryuko! Jack!" she waves at us while we wave back before we get near our table

Yang: "You know, you could beat his ass. He deserves it"

Pyrrha: "I can't stand people like him"

Ryuko: "And later get to explain everything to Glynda, no way"

Blake: "You two look like you know that Faunus girl"

Jack: "Velvet of Team CFVY. Second-year students we met a month ago while Ryuko went on her shopping spree. She and Coco become friends because of a common interest in fashion"

Ryuko: "Yeah... being a daughter of a fashionista does it to you. We talked some more times and boom. Friends"

Yang: "It must be hard to be a Faunus"

Ryuko: "You don't even know, Goldie. Anyway, who got history with Oobleck? We should be going"

Jack: "Ah yes. Doctor Oobleck... if what Fox told me is true, the most hyper Professor here" I sigh "Come on. Ruby, don't burn our room while we are gone" she grunts

Ruby: "Stop treating me like a child, Jack!"

Jack: "Maybe because you're one, Pipsqueak" I laugh "Catch you later kiddo" I salute and follow the rest of the group to Oobleck's class

*Timeskip, History class*

Upon arriving, we get in our seats, me and Ryuko behind Blake and Pyrrha, next to Weiss

Oobleck: "Yes! Yes, prior to the Faunus Rights Revolution--more popularly known as the Faunus War--" he zooms up to the front of the class and the map covered in papers behind his desk "--humankind was quite, quite adamant about centralizing Faunus population in Menagerie." (points at the map of said-area with his stick, then zooms off to the side for a sip of his coffee before appearing in front of the desk) "Now! While this must feel like ancient history to many of you, it is imperative to remember that these are relatively recent events! Why, the repercussions of the uprising can still be seen to this day!" (zooms around the classroom more, sipping his coffee again before continuing to zoom and talk) "Now! Have any among you been subjugated or discriminated because of your Faunus heritage?"

Ryuko and some other Faunus got their hands up. She looks at Velvet, who is hesitant to do so. Ryuko smiles at her and nods, helping Velvet to bring her hand up

Oobleck: "Dreadful, simply dreadful! Remember, students, it is precisely this kind of ignorance that breeds violence!" he takes another sip of his coffee "I mean, I mean, I mean just look at what happened to White Fang! Now, which one of you young scholars can tell me what many theorize to be the turning point in the third year of the War?" Weiss gets her hand up "Yes?

Weiss: "The battle at Fort Castle!"

Oobleck: "Precisely! And, who can tell me the advantage the Faunus had over General Lagune's forces?" Cardin flicks a paper at Jaune's head

Jaune: "Hey!" Oobleck gets into his face

Oobleck: "Mr. Arc! Finally contributing to class! This is excellent! Excellent! What is the answer?"

Jaune: "Uhhhh... The answer... The advantage... that the Faunus... had over that guy's stuff..." Pyrrha tries to give him an answer by cupping her hands around her eyes "Uhh... Binoculars!" While being proud of his answer, the rest of the class laugh at him while Oobleck zooms past his desk and sips some coffee. Pyrrha meanwhile sighs and facepalms

Ryuko: "Hey, at least you tried Pyrrha"

Pyrrha: "Please, not now Ryuko"

Oobleck: "Very funny, Mr. Arc! Cardin! Perhaps you would care to share your thoughts on the subject!"

Cardin: "Well, I know it's a lot easier to train an animal than a soldier" Ryuko glares at him like she wants to kill him and to be honest I would love to let her but she would be kicked out. Oobleck meanwhile shakes his head

Pyrrha: "You're not the most open-minded of individuals, are you, Cardin?"

Cardin: "What? You got a problem?"

Ryuko: "How about you shut your stupid mouth once and for all, Winchester! Because of people like you, the White Fang turned out to be terrorists! Because of people like YOU, Faunus would never be accepted as a part of society! Because-"

Oobleck: "Ms. Kiryuin! Although I would like to hear your opinions about the subject, we're in class. Now! Do you know the answer?"

Ryuko: "Grr... It's night vision, Doctor Oobleck. Many Faunus, me included, have nearly perfect sight in the darkness" Oobleck nods with satisfaction. Then, Blake stands up

Blake: "General Lagune was inexperienced, and made the mistake of trying to ambush the Faunus in their sleep. His massive army was outmatched, and the general was captured." she turns to Cardin "Perhaps if he'd paid attention in class, he wouldn't have been remembered as such a failure" Carding gets up from his seat, his fist clenched. I glare at him, smirking while holding my hand up creating a fire silhouette of him before crushing it in my hand

Oobleck: "Mr. Winchester! Please take your seat" Jaune laughs at Cardin "You and Mr. Arc can both see me after class for additional readings"

Jaune: "Oohhh..."

Oobleck: "Now! Moving on!" Oobleck continues with his lecture until the bell ring. We walk outside with the remaining team JNPR while their leader and Cardin get the additional reading. Pyrrha stops in the doorway

Pyrrha: "You go on ahead. I'll wait for Jaune" Nora and Ren look inside the classroom and later go on their way "Jack, Ryuko, you can go too. I have to speak with-"

Ryuko: "If you want to train him, then do it. Who would be a better teacher than number one student from Sanctum?" she smirks "Miss 'Pumpkin Pete'"

Pyrrha: "You know I don't like that nickname. But..."

Just then Oobleck zooms past us and after him, Jaune and Cardin walk out of the classroom. The latter tries to push our blonde friend until she spots Ryuko with her hair up, electricity crackling can be heard in the area. He gives up while we walk to Jaune

Pyrrha: "You know, I really will break his legs" Jaune sighs and Pyrrha looks like she got an inspiration "I have an idea! Here, come with me!" she grabs confused Jaune, as she drags him away, leaving only me and Ryuko

Ryuko: "Well... Jaune is in good hands. So, what now?"

Jack: "Let's get back to our dorm. I have a feeling for some waffles"

Ryuko: "Lemon waffles?" she asks

Jack: "No, normal-"

Ryuko: "Jack" I turn to her, as she is giving me big blue eyes, just like Ruby when she wants something from me

Jack: "Ryuko..."

Ryuko: "Please! Pretty please!"

Jack: "You can't- Oh my Oum... why are you so damn adorable? Okay, but I will go take a smoke on the roof. Go get the ingredients ready" Ryuko salutes, gets on her tiptoes, and kisses my cheek

Ryuko: "Just don't take too long. Love ya Jack"

Jack: "Love ya too, Ryu Ryu" I smile and made my way towards the roof

???: "Hey, Jack!" I turn around to spot Coco walking with her team

Jack: "Oh, hey guys! What's up?"

Fox: "We are wondering, where Team CRDL's room is? You're a first-year so maybe you know"

Velvet: "I'm telling you guys, it's nothing! Ryuko and Jack helped me!"

Coco: "We just want to talk with him. So, Jack, you know where it is or...?"

Jack: "Oh, it's three rooms to the right from my dorm. You know where it is?"

Coco: "Yup. Thanks for helping Velvet in the morning. Tell it to Ryuko too, good looking" she winks at me

Jack: "If she knew you're flirting with me, she would fry your clothes" I chuckle "I will. Have fun with Cardin guys"

Fox: "Oh trust me, we will"

Yatsuhashi: "We just need them to learn their place" And they walked away

Jack: "Heh, those guys. I will miss them when they graduate next year" I chuckle and get up the stairs to the roof, lighting my cigarette in the meanwhile. I get to my usual spot where no one can see or hear me "Glynda would take my ass if she gets to know I smoke in school. Heh" I take a puff, overlooking Beacon tower. "Wonder where in the hell are you, old man. Maybe Oz got something? And..." I look down at my hand "Maybe you will finally tell me where mom went? I wonder what is she doing now"

'Although my mom left for a mission when I was just born, she keeps contact with us. Since then, Summer was a mother role for me until she went missing from her mission. It felt like I lost two mothers during six years, and it sure is painful. Dad started drinking when Summer went missing, and to this day I try to convince him to stop'

Jack: "Heh, it's only fair. You drink, I smoke" I then overheard someone's talk. I poke my head from behind the vent, seeing Jaune and Pyrrha. I listen to their talk

Pyrrha: "Jaune, everybody needs a little push from time to time. It doesn't make you any different from the rest of us. You made it to Beacon! That speaks volumes of what you're capable of!"

Jaune: "You're wrong. I-I don't belong here"

Pyrrha: "That's a terrible thing to say! Of course you do!"

Jaune: "No, I don't! I wasn't really accepted into Beacon..."

Pyrrha: "Wh-what do you mean?"

Jaune: "I mean I didn't go to combat school, I didn't pass any tests. I didn't earn my spot at this Academy! I lied! I got my hands on some fake transcripts, and I lied!" I decided to step in, with a cigarette still in my mouth

Jack: "So, it was really you, huh, Jaune?" I walk to them, my hand in my jacket. I take a puff and get near them "Uncle Oz had a problem with people like you, you know?"

Jaune: "(Y-Y/N)?"

Pyrrha: "You smoke?" I nod "And what are you doing here?"

Jack: "For a Sanctum prodigy, you are sometimes a bubblehead, Pyrrha. No offense, but Glynda would have my ass if she gets to know I smoke inside the school building. Now, let's get back to the matter at hand" I turn to Jaune "I had my suspicions about you, pal. When I saw no experience from you. I just want to ask you something. You know, Huntsman Academies is not your typical High School. You can be killed in a mission, and yet you are here taking a risk. For what? What pushed you to do such a risky choice?"

Jaune: "Because this is always what I've wanted to be!" he turns away "My father, my grandfather, and his father before him were all warriors! They were all heroes! I wanted to be one, too. I was just never good enough"

Pyrrha: "Then let me help you!"

Jaune: "I don't WANt help! I don't WANT to be the damsel in distress! I want to be the hero!" I shake my head

Pyrrha: "Jaune, I-"

Jaune: "I'm tired of being the lovable idiot, stuck in the tree while his friends fight for their lives! Don't you understand? If I can't do this on my own... then what good am I?" Pyrrha tries to reach out to him and console him, but he leans back from her touch

Jaune: "Just... leave me alone. Okay?" Pyrrha get her head down, a tear gets in her eye

Pyrrha: "If that's what you think is best..." She walks away. I put down my smoke and turn to him

Jack: "Man, you got yourself in trouble, don't you?" I chuckle "Knowing Oz, he probably knows about your transcripts, but won't throw you out. You know why?" Jaune shakes his head "Because if he wanted you out of Beacon, he would do this the very second we get back from initiation. Jaune, you have no experience, no skill. Rethink what Pyrrha said to you. She will help you and who knows, maybe you get to be a great Huntsman one day" I start walking away "Don't miss your chance when it occurs, buddy. This world needs a lot of people with your resolve for what is to come in the future" I leave the roof and go on my way to Team RWBY dorm, where Ryuko is waiting for me

Ryuko: "Took you long enough, hun. Come on, let's get these waffles!" I start to make a dough, while Ryuko squeezes lemon juice

Jack: "Where is the rest of our team?"

Ryuko: "Blake went to the library, Weiss said she will go with her to study, Ruby and Yang are out in the town in the arcade"

Jack: "Heh. Okay"

Ryuko: "Oh, and I heard some noises from Team CRDL's room. You know something about it?"

Jack: "Team CFVY wanted to talk with them about bullying Velvet. I just give them the directions"

Ryuko: "Well, they deserved it"

Jack: "Yup" I get to her, get the glass with lemon juice, and get it into the dough. Later I put it onto the waffle maker. "Pyrrha tried to help Jaune with his fighting skill"

Ryuko: "And?" I sigh

Jack: "This stupid idiot faked his transcripts and got into the school without any experience. He made her cry-"

Ryuko: "He made her what?! Oh, you better keep me away from him because I will so beat his ass for this!"

Jack: "Ryu Ryu..."

Ryuko: "NO ONE makes my friends cry. You may not know, but I and Pyrrha were close in Sanctum. She got the whole 'Prodigy' thing around her, but I saw her as just Pyrrha, a great friend to have. And I'm glad to still have her as that"

Jack: "So, I see you got some adventures during our parting" I chuckle "Well, I would kill anything which would hurt either Ruby or Yang. Those two are like siblings to me, especially with Summer acting like my mom. She was the best person I knew... and I miss her every day"

Ryuko: "Jack..."

Jack: "When I think about her, I remember those warm hugs, her cookies, her stories from her missions which inspired me to be a Huntsman..." I got one tear away from my eye "I know, I'm going about her again, but... I wish to know what happened to her. And if she is still alive, I swore to find her and get her back to Ruby. To uncle Tai and Yang. Or at least give her a proper burial. She deserves at least that"

Ryuko: "But... What about your real mom?"

Jack: "I don't know much about her. Just that her name is Hayami, she is a Huntress and she and dad met here in Beacon. Dad sometimes gets letters from her, saying she is fine and she will soon be back home, but it was ten years already. I want to find her too"

Ryuko: "I'm so sorry Jack. I didn't mean to pry-"

Jack: "It's okay, kitten. I just... I had to throw the baggage from my chest. You know. Even I have to cry from time to time... It's okay for me to cry, right?" Ryuko get my head in her chest, hugging me and petting my head

Ryuko: "Shh... It's okay for everyone to cry, honey. I understand and I'm here for you" I calmed down just in time for our waffles to get ready. We sit in our bad, eating while the rest of our band enters

Ruby: "Hey guys! We're ba-" she smells the air "Jack's waffles! Big bro, did you-"

Jack: "Yes I did. They are in our kitchen. If I remember, we have some strawbe-" I couldn't even finish when Ruby ran into the kitchen, returning a second later with a plate of waffles with whip cream and strawberries "Go ahead girls, I make enough for everyone"

Weiss: "Yeah, I think I will pass"

Ryuko: "You don't know what're you missing, Ice Queen" she takes a bite "Mhhh~ Sure these are delicious" Ruby meanwhile nearly inhales her waffles

Jack: "Ruby, if you eat them that fast I will never make them again" Meanwhile Yang and Blake get back with their plates. Yang got her with some honey while Blake got some blueberries on them

Yang: "Mhh. Come on Weiss! Jack spend his time and effort to make those! It would be rude to turn them down"

Weiss: "I guess I can take a bite. But only one bite" Yang gives her a plate and she takes a bite, making her eyes sparkle "What... how could you...?"

Yang: "Oh, Jack cooked for us when his dad and our dad went on some mission or to the job in Signal"

Blake: "That's some pretty good waffles. My mom made similar ones"

Ruby: "Wait till you taste his cookies! They are nearly the best!"

Jack: "True, the only one who baked better cookies was our mom. But I will not give up until I match her recipe!" I get my fist up, making Ruby, Ryuko, and Yang laugh, while Blake smiles

Ruby: "Okay, guys. We got another day behind us on our way to become Huntsman and Huntresses. Next week Professor Peach sends us to Forever Fall. We should be rested and ready!"

Jack: "Sure. So finish your food and let's rest" I get my plate to the sink, get my second PJ set and go take a shower. After everyone got their afternoon routine, we all went to sleep

Ruby: "Goodnight guys!"

Yang: "Night sis!"

Jack: "Sweet dreams Pipsqueak"

Ryuko: "Nightie"

Blake: "Goodnight"

Weiss: "Night" I turned off the light, close our room curtain and lie next to Ryuko, as we cuddle to sleep

Ryuko: "Night honey, love you" I kiss her forehead

Jack: "Night kitten, love you too"

We drifted to the land of nod. Some days later, before we go to sleep I hear Ruby walking out of our room, talking to someone

Ruby: "Hey, Jaune! Long time, no see! Did you lock yourself out again?"

Jaune: "Oh, uh, nope! Got it!"

Ruby: "So! Where have you been lately?"

Jaune: "I, uh... I messed up. I did something I shouldn't have, and now Cardin has me on a leash, and Pyrrha won't even talk to me, and... I'm starting to think coming to this school was a bad idea. I'm a failure"

Ruby: "Nope!"

'Oh here we go again with Ruby's motivational talks' I chuckle silently not to wake Ryuko up

Jaune: "Nope?"

Ruby: "Nope! You're a leader now, Jaune. You're not allowed to be a failure"

Jaune: "But... what if I'm a failure at being a leader?" Ruby responds after a while

Ruby: "Nope!"

Jaune: "You know, you're not the easiest person to talk to about this kind of stuff"

Ruby: "Nope! Jaune, maybe you were a failure when you were a kid... and you might've even been a failure the first day we met! But, you can't be one now. You know why?"

Jaune: "Uhhh, because...?"

Ruby: "Because it's not just about you anymore. You've got a team now, Jaune. We both do! And if we fail, then we'll just be bringing them down with us. We have to put our teammates first, and ourselves second. Your team deserves a great leader, Jaune. And I think that can be you. Have a good night, Jaune!" Ruby enters our room back and closes the door

Jack: "Pipsqueak?"

Ruby: "Oh. I'm sorry Jack, I didn't mean to wake you up"

Jack: "I wasn't sleeping. I heard your talk with Jaune. Good job kiddo, mom would be proud. I know I am"

Ruby: "Thanks Jack"

Jack: "No problem, little sis. Go to sleep, we have a school trip tomorrow" I smile

Ruby: "Right. Good night Jack"

Jack: "Night Rubes"

We get to our beds, getting ready for a trip. Upon waking up and one first period with Professor Peach, telling us what she needs, Glynda picked us up to Forever Fall. We look around, grasping the beauty of this place

Glynda: "Yes, students, the forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful. But we are not here to sight-see. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest, and I'm here to make sure none of you die while doing so"

Jack: "Not as beautiful as you, Kitten" I whisper to Ryuko, making her giggle

Ryuko: "Stop with this sappy talk, Jack. You're making me blush"

Jack: "I knew it. You can hide under this whole tough persona, but you're still that girly girl I remember"

Ryuko: "I wasn't all 'girly girl', bird brain. The mere fact-"

Jack: "The fact that you love stuffed animals, had your room in pink till you turned twelve and you were always your dad's 'special little angel' speaks otherwise. Ryu Ryu, there is no need to hide it, and I love that side of you too" Ryuko hides her head in my chest, punching my chest

Ryuko: "Stop. Talking. About. This. Someone can hear you. I don't want them to know it"

Jack: "Know what?" I chuckle "Your collection of stuffed animals you probably still keep in your room"

Ryuko: "Jack Branwen!"

Jack: "Okay, I won't. It's our secret" I smile

Ryuko: "You're lucky I love you. Otherwise, Oum knows what I would do to you"

Glynda: "Each of you is to gather one jar worth of red sap. However, this forest is full of the creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay by your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4 o'clock. Have fun!" Ruby and Yang smile at each other and I get near them with our box full of jars. Everyone grabs one and we are on our way deeper into the forest

Ruby: "Everyone got their jars?" the rest of Team RWBY nods "Then let's go, guys!" We walk deeper into the forest, while I turn around to see Jaune walking away with Cardin and his buddies

'Just what happened? Jaune is the last person I would suspect to be all buddy-buddy with Cardin... well, besides me and Ryuko'

After some walking, we get to the area where we should find trees old enough to give quality sap. Using my scythe to make a hole, Ryuko presses the tap in and we fill our jars

Ryuko: "Mmm~ sweet syrup to go with pancakes and waffles" she gets some sap on her finger and tastes it, emitting a satisfying squeal

Jack: "Yup"

Ryuko: "By the way, when are we beating Cardin?" I get surprised by this question, chuckling at the end

Jack: "For what?"

Ryuko: "For blackmailing Jaune. Why do you think they become 'besties'? It's probably why he is avoiding his team"

Jack: "He didn't want any help, so let it be. That's why Pyrrha is angry at him" I look to the left, seeing our redhead spartan friend filling her jar "One thing is trying to become something bigger, another one is not accepting any help in doing it. It's just foolish"

Ryuko: "Yeah... you, Yang, and Ruby had your dad and uncle. I got Satsuki and our dad. Weiss' sister is a part of Atlas Military from what she told me and Blake... well, she was a part of the White Fang after all like me. I just wonder why she hides her ears"

Jack: "Maybe because someone could recognize her? You don't have that problem, you wore a mask like some silent assassin"

Ryuko: "Yeah, yeah... It's not like you're free from secrets. Does Ruby or Yang know about, you know?"

Jack: "My ability to change into a bird? Nope. And let it better be that way" Then I spotted a raven sitting on a branch of a nearby tree "I have to check something, I will be back soon"

Ryuko: "Just don't get lost hun" That raven flew away, as I follow it

Jack: "I won't" Getting some distance from my group, the bird lands behind me "Long time no see... auntie Raven" I turn around, meeting my father's sister, Raven Branwen "I assume it's not to finally make amends and get back to Yang, huh?"

Raven: "Indeed. I come with an offer Jack"

Jack: "Let me guess... joining the tribe?" I think "I will answer like I always do. No" I turn on my heel and get ready to leave "Why do you even waste your time trying to get me there?"

Raven: "Because you're a Branwen, Jack. And your place is among our tribe"

Jack: "Dad is too, and I don't see you trying to get him back"

Raven: "Qrow is a lost cause. He trusts Ozpin more than his own sister. But you're still young Jack. There is no need to waste your life in a war that was never yours to begin"

Jack: "It wasn't mine... but I won't leave as you did. If Oz have a plan, then Salem can be-"

Raven: "Salem can't be defeated!" she cut me off "There is no beating her, many people tried, only to die" I chuckle

Jack: "And what makes you think that you're safe from her while being passive? You have Spring's Maiden, she will come for you too. Sooner or later" I start walking away

Raven: "Wait" I turn around again, as she sighs "Jack, do you really want to follow Ozpin to your dead? If you join me, then you and your girlfriend would be safe" I growl

Jack: "Don't bring Ryuko into this. Why don't you ask Yang to join you? She is a Branwen too after all, huh?"

Raven: "I..."

Jack: "I will tell you for the last time, I will not join the Branwen Tribe, not now, not ever. I don't care about it. I have my other priorities right now" Raven sighs

Raven: "As stubborn as his mother... She changed Qrow for sure, I just don't know if for better or worse. She says hello to you by the way"

Jack: "Wait, what?!" Raven creates the portal with her Semblance

Raven: "You know how my Semblance works. I can bond with people and create a portal to their position. I have one for Qrow, one for Tai, one for you, one for Yang, and one for Hayami. I visit her from time to time"

Jack: "Is she fine?! Where is she?!"

Raven: "You want to know the answers? I will wait for you, my nephew. If you decide, then I will know. I'm always around. Farewell" Raven stepped into the portal, as it disappears a while later

'Raven... knows where my mom is? But I will need to join her tribe... is it worth it?'

Ryuko: "Jack! Are you there?!" I hear her shout, making my way to her "I thought you got lost. Come on, we have our box filled. Time to head back to-" a roar cut her off

Jack: "What the heck was that?"

Ruby: "Did you guys hear that?"

Ryuko: "Yup" Then, the members of CRDL jump out of the bush

Russell: "Ursa! Ursa!" he runs into Yang

Yang: "What?!" she picks him up by his shirt "Where?"

Russel: "Back there! It's got Cardin!" he points to from where they run off, meanwhile Pyrrha drops her sap jar

Pyrrha: "Jaune!" Ruby gets into a leader mode

Ruby: "Yang! You and Blake, go get Professor Goodwitch! Jack, Weiss, Ryuko! You three are going with me!" Yang drops Russel as the duo nod before following her order. I get Judgement Day out and change it into a scythe

Jack: "Man, been some time since I killed some Grimm" Pyrrha meanwhile turns to Ren and Nora

Pyrrha: "You two, go with them! There could be more!"

Jack: "There are for sure"

We run towards where Jaune and Cardin are. Upon arriving, we see Cardin trying to get away from Ursa who is looking at its helpless prey

Pyrrha: "Oh, no!"

We watch as Ursa was about to swipe Cardin away... only for Jaune to come in and block it with his shield. He struggles to defend a stunned Cardin from its attempts to lean on him, but Weiss lifts Myrtenaster and Ryuko gets her Semblance going as they get ready to aid Jaune with the Grimm. Pyrrha however stops them

Pyrrha: "Wait!"

Ryuko: "But Pyrrha, Jaune will be killed if we don't help him!"

Pyrrha: "Just observe" she smiled

Jaune takes the shield out from Ursa's paw and slashes at its stomach, causing it to lash out and try to crush him. He rolls out of the way and jumps over its swipe at his feet, but he is unprepared for when it launches a claw at him in midair. He lands far away, yet is immediately back on his feet and passing Cardin as he charges again. The Ursa knocks Jaune behind it when he tries for a leaping attack, and he looks at the Scroll in his shield to find out that his Aura level is in the red. He grows angry again and starts to run at the Ursa as it also begins to dash towards him.

As they are just about to clash in slow-motion, Pyrrha sees that Jaune has left himself completely open to Ursa's attack, and lifts her hand out to him, gathering dark red energy in her arm. Just as the Ursa is about to hit him, the glow surrounds Jaune's shield and makes it lift to block the swipe. Jaune uses the surprise defensive move to lean on the ground, push his shield back up, and swing his blade right through Ursa's neck. The head falls to the ground as the body slams onto the ground. Pyrrha stops her Semblance and smiles

Ruby: "Uhhh... What?"

Weiss: "How did you...?"

Ryuko: "Heh, Ms.Prodigy and her overpowered tricks" she grins

Pyrrha: "Ryuko, please, not now" she then turns to Weiss "Well... Ruby has her speed, Jack has his fire, Ryuko has her lighting and you have your glyphs. My Semblance is polarity"

Ruby: "Whoa, you can control poles..." I and Ryuko laugh aloud

Weiss: "No, you dunce! It means she has control over magnetism!"

Ruby: "Magnets are cool, too..."

Ryuko: "They sure are Rosie. Come on, we have to get back" I, Pyrrha, and Ryuko are starting to walk away

Weiss: "Wait, where are you three going?"

Ruby: "Yeah! We gotta tell them what happened!"

Pyrrha: "We could... Or perhaps we could keep it our little secret?" Weiss and Ruby smile, understanding what she means

Jack: "Come on Pipsqueak, Ice Queen"

Weiss: "Hey!" I chuckle

After our return, I and Nora get our jars to Professor Peach, while I tell her how Jaune beheaded an Ursa. I also had the task to keep Nora from eating every jar

Nora: "He didn't!"

Jack: "He did. With one swift motion, he shielded his side and cut Ursa's head clean" We got near our dorms, just in time to see Pyrrha near Team RWBY's dorm, about to knock "Hey Pyrrha. What brings you to our dorm?"

Pyrrha: "Oh, I was just about to ask for your and Ryuko's help"

Jack: "With what? Training Jaune?" she nods "But why us? Can't you teach him alone, wonder girl?" I chuckle

Pyrrha: "Well... You must know, being Ryuko's boyfriend, that she is my close friend. She often gave me a hard time in Region Tournaments and I was only able to defeat her by sheer luck"

Jack: "Yeah, she whoops butts. But where am I in this?"

Pyrrha: "Well... you may not know it, but in Sanctum, there were gossips about a student from Signal who perfected using a scythe. Many called him the next Grimm Reaper. The only two who use a scythe and are from Signal are you and Ruby. And you beat her in combat class"

Jack: "Well... sorry to disappoint you but I would never be as good as Grimm Reaper. And those gossips get born only because I won some small school tournament"

Pyrrha: "Anyway, you want to help?"

Jack: "Sure. Know that I won't answer if I hit Jaune too hard. Give me a while, Firehead. I will go grab my smokes and my Kitten and we will be on the roof in a while" Pyrrha nods, leaving me in front of my room. I enter, tell Ryuko what's Pyrrha suggests, and after retrieving smokes, we get up on the roof, seeing Pyrrha was about to leave

Jaune: "Wait!" Pyrrha turns around "I know I don't deserve it after all that happened, but... would you still be willing to help me... to help me become a better fighter?" Pyrrha goes up to Jaune and suddenly pushes him to the ground "Hey!"

Pyrrha: "Your stance is all wrong. You need to be wider and lower to the ground" A lightning strike gets near him. He looks up, seeing Ryuko all powered up

Ryuko: "Hey. Pyrrha asked for our help. You don't mind, do you, Jaune?"

Jaune: "Oh man..."

Pyrrha: "I don't think Jaune is ready to parry a Semblance hits Ryu. Let's try again with a stance" I light one cig and watch him and Pyrrha going

Jack: "Hey Jaune!" he looks at me "Good decision man. Glad you got your macho talk off'' I smile, taking another puff as Ryuko sits next to me, leaning her head on my shoulder. We look up the night sky, enjoying the moment

A/N Yup, here it is. Now the only thing left is Volume 1 end and we can start more fun stuff...

So, to sum everything up. We know Ryuko's cup size... not important, there will be no lemon so don't even hope for one. We know Jack's mom is somewhere on Remnant and Raven has a connection to her. Will she use this fact to make Jack join the tribe? Or will Jack find her on his own? We also know something about Jack's past with the Xiao-Long Rose family.
